Chapter 271 - Entering The Right Track

In the end, only two hundred thousand of the remaining people were willing to rear mutated creatures and Insects. There were only eleven juvenile mutated beasts and Insects in total, but their inherent reproduction speed would quickly grow their numbers. Especially female Insects, they could even produce a few thousand babies within one pregnancy. By then, two hundred thousand people might not be enough.

As for the remaining two hundred and ninety thousand people who were unwilling to accept any arrangements, Yang Tian decided not to give them any more food as well. When these people saw the farming group have harvested large quantities of Splitter Cauliflower, they were filled with jealousy and envy.

For first time offenders, they were released after a warning was issued to them, but there would always be people who were not afraid and tried the second time. These people were immediately beheaded, their blood was used as lessons to engrave into the heart of others.

After ten days, Sky Halberd City stop issuing food to the masses, only people from the Combat Hall and the mechanics were still supplied with food. As for the farming group, they have harvested and started consuming Splitter Cauliflowers, although the plant tasted awful, it was better than going on an empty stomach. Moreover, the awful taste could be hidden with enough spices and condiments. As for the creature breeders, they have also properly taken care of those insect eggs and newborn mutated beasts and were rewarded with food as well.

For the rest, Yang Tian told them to forage Sky Halberd Domain for materials and they could use the materials found to exchange for food. This was also a method of using this labor power, and to also give them a chance to survive.

As for the remaining two hundred and fifty thousand, they also became Rank 1 metahumans over the next twenty days.

On top of these people, five hundred of the ten thousand people researching gun equipment awakened an ability. Of the five hundred, two hundred of them had abilities that have a synergistic effect with magic energy equipment; these people were promoted to the Magic Equipment Hall to continue research in that area. On top of ranking up, these people needed to learn how to craft magic energy equipment which fully utilizes their potential.

A small portion amongst the farmers and breeders awakened abilities likewise, but only a small portion of them decided to stop their current work and join the combat group. Entering battles meant that they might lose something, although rearing creatures can also be dangerous, the casualties were much lower, that was why many decided to continue performing manual labor.

The farmers were no longer planting Splitter Cauliflowers which had all been burnt awhile back, the plants used in the farms had been changed to the normal seeds.

As it was still the early phase of the Post-Apocalyptic Era, the most important thing was still food. However, only producing food was not enough for development, there was a need to research and develop various types of magic energy equipment as well.

Having a large number of people becoming metahumans within Sky Halberd Domain have increased the domain’s overall power, Yang Tian also got Xu Dafu to assign each of the Nine Cities twenty thousand Rank 1 metahuman to bolster their forces.

Although Rank 1 metahumans were not powerful, they have the numbers to make up for that. Moreover, the cities had also started developing their agriculture and creature rearing, allowing them to avoid facing a situation where they might lack food.

The bodies of the Insects and mutated creatures they hunted could all be brought back to Sky Halberd City to exchange for food, useful materials that they forage along the way could also be used to exchange for food as well; of course, these useful materials could only be found outside Sky Halberd Domain. People who forage materials found within the Sky Halberd Domain could only exchange for half or less than normal. Moreover, due to the large army of Dark Slimes patrolling within Sky Halberd Domain, there was no need to worry about materials being robbed or lost.

Sky Halberd City also possessed a designated combat team; the people within the team all possessed powerful magic energy equipment with great destructiveness, allowing them to obtain an absolute advantage when fighting against others of the same rank.

The Magic Energy Hall and Combat Hall have also recruited many candidates with great potential, although they were currently not powerful, their talents and abilities were all relatively good. Given time, these people would undoubtedly become very powerful.
