Chapter 1 – Stupid

Three years post-graduation class reunion.

While eating sashimi, Qi Qianze ate a large mouthful of wasabi, and so was choked until tears covered his face.

Someone laughed and put their arms around his shoulders: “Hey bro, we haven’t seen each other in a few years, but it’s not worth crying like this right?”

Qi Qianze waved his hand, trying to say that it was wasabi, but couldn’t make a sound.

He continued coughing, with enough force that it seemed he was going to cough up an organ. His neck turned red, with visible veins.

“Ze-ge can’t handle the spice?”

“My god, he’s coughed till he looks like this.”

“Is he okay?”

“……”

The people nearby were so noisy. They even began asking the classmates if anyone studied medicine, so they could come and take a look.

Qi Qianze wanted to laugh. Today was the engineering department reunion, and they’d only graduated for three years – even if there was someone who’d gone to medical school, it would still take them a few years to graduate, where could a doctor come from.

Doctor……

Speaking of doctors, Qi Qianze knew one. A handsome, tall, slender one, with a personality so cold it was slightly warped.

He only knew this one person who went into the medical field. Qi Qianze thought, if most doctors were like that person, it was good that there wasn’t a doctor at the reunion. If they saw someone being choked by wasabi like this, don’t even think about how hard they’d secretly laugh, perhaps they’d even write it up and post it on the internet.

Right, that person was just like this.

He would remain impassive on the surface, but would secretly smirk, and then say……

“Wasabi? Where are they?” It seemed that a person was asking.

What a coincidence, there really was a doctor.

Qi Qianze’s head was all numb. He pressed his temples as hard as he could, but his thoughts were still a mess.

What would that person say? He thought a bit, oh, thought of it, that person would say–––

“Qi, Qi Qianze?” Someone said, “Why are you here?”

The voice seems pretty familiar, like it’s a classmate or someone. He can’t recall clearly.

“Hey hey hey, do you recognize me?”

“Take a look at him first, it seems like he didn’t pay attention and ate a lot of wasabi.”

“He’s coughed to this point, even cried…”

“Could it be, that he’s allergic to sashimi?”

The people nearby all chattered in a muddle.

“It’s not an allergy–––”

A voice sounded, very cold and very indifferent. As if it truly carried with it a cold temperature, it froze the whole area, turning the noise distant and small. Quiet.

His voice was the light that pierced the fog and made the surroundings all fade away.

From when he spoke, the only thing in Qi Qianze’s mind was that voice.

“Sashimi is his favorite.”

Qi Qianze lifted his head. His eyes were misty and he couldn’t see anything clearly, only feeling a hand touching his cheek.

It seemed to be wiping his tears, but the movement was rude– it was a mannerless, ice-cold hand.

“Hey, Fu An, what are you doing…”

It was true, Qi Qianze recognized the voice, this was Fu An.

It was Fu An’s voice, it was Fu An’s coldness.

It was that person that he had fruitlessly searched for for many years.

Qi Qianze suddenly grabbed hold of that hand.

He would say––––

“Qi Qianze, how are you still this stupid.”
