Seventy Dragons (2)

He was on the verge of losing patience, unable to tolerate any more teasing and provocations. Those dark thoughts in the depths of his heart had completely consumed him. All his attempts to distance himself from her for her own good crumbled in the face of her simple words, “not want her.”

By the time he came back to his senses, he found himself already holding her in his embrace.

She was just as soft and tender as he had imagined countless times. Just holding her lightly had him on the verge of combustion. He couldn’t utter a word, and even breathing became a difficult task.

Mu Wanwan’s ears were filled with his breathing, and her entire face turned crimson. She felt incredibly self-conscious sitting on that dragon’s lap. After a while, she couldn’t hold out anymore and gently pushed his chest, “M-Mister Long.”

“Mhm,” the dragon responded and released her. His earlobes were a bright red, though his expression remained cold. His voice, however, had softened.

Mu Wanwan couldn’t quite describe what she was feeling at the moment. She hurriedly got off his lap, feeling flustered. “Do your legs hurt?”

“You.” Mister Long fell briefly silent before adding, “Are light.”

Mu Wanwan couldn’t help but laugh. She felt like all her uncertainties about Mister Long’s behavior had dissipated with that embrace just now.

Seemingly having figured out his character, she didn’t ask for his opinion again. Blushing, she pushed him towards the bed, saying, “Your Grace, shall I help you to the bed?”

Mister Long pursed his lips, and Mu Wanwan heard his hoarse voice softly say, “Okay.”

This time, he was no longer difficult and resistant. Mu Wanwan helped him onto the bed, then settled onto another mattress with its own set of covers.

Thinking back to their recent embrace, her heart raced faster and faster. She buried her head in the covers, feeling that it was going to be impossible for her to fall asleep with Mister Long right beside her.

Meanwhile, the dragon lay in his familiar spot, feeling as though there were imprints of her all over his legs, chest, and arms. Along with the gradually recovering spiritual energy came an itching sensation, making it even more difficult for him to find rest.

So, the next morning, Mu Wanwan woke up with faint dark circles under her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she saw her dragon husband sitting on the bed with a cold and indifferent expression, his eyes calm. Her face reddened, and she felt that the dream-like embrace from last night was probably not real.

However, there was one thing she was certain of: Mister Long wouldn’t harm her.

With that thought in mind, the angst in her heart seemed to have faded away. In fact, she became even more assertive and unbridled, no longer addressing him as “Your Grace.” Instead, she said, “Good morning, Mister Long.”

Mister Long’s eyes brightened slightly, and he gave a cool and reserved nod, acknowledging her.

Mu Wanwan, “…”

She smiled and made a mental addition to today’s agenda: I must do my best to get Mister Long to speak more.

“Chirp.” The forgotten Mengmeng had just woken up, tilting its head to look at Mu Wanwan, who seemed to be in a good mood despite her tired appearance. Its big eyes were filled with puzzlement.

Then… it noticed the deathly glare coming from the ugly dragon behind Mu Wanwan.

“Chirp…” Cowed, Mengmeng scampered away on its tiny legs. It was too scary inside, the courtyard was much more fun!

While the dragon and human were gradually familiarising themselves with each other, the news of Hua Yun Apothecary’s Spirt Returning Pills, which had a remarkable curse-alleviating effect, reached the ears of many.

The first batch of people who managed to obtain these pills spared no effort in promoting them. As a result, Uncle Zong and Uncle Chen had recently received numerous pre-orders, some of which came from powerful members of other clans.

As the heart of the dragon clan’s territory, the capital city often had many members of other clans stationed there.

The Leisure Pavilion was the largest information transmission organization on the entire continent and was affiliated with a mysterious organization, just like the auction house.

They had branches among the dragon clan, demon clan, and witch tribe, and rumours even suggested they had a presence in the territory of the abyssal daemons.

They had long since obtained the information that there was an alchemist capable of producing curse-alleviating elixirs.

The head of the Leisure Pavilion in the capital city, Leng An, had already begun investigating Mu Wanwan’s identity when she first provided the elixirs.

“Interesting.” Leng An held a piece of information that was just presented by his subordinate, and a hint of a smile played at the corner of his lips. “While the effect isn’t as strong as Master’s plants, the quantity is considerable. Perhaps Master will take some interest in this little one.”

Being able to produce elixirs with effects similar to the spiritual plants cultivated by Master was already enough for them to value her existence.

The continent was becoming increasingly unstable; abyssal daemons were growing increasingly restless, and there were collaborations within the various witch tribes. The dragon clan’s sovereign was merely the first sacrificial pawn.

However, the fact that the sovereign had married such a capable wife might just be his good fortune.

Leng An wasn’t a friend of the sovereign, but he had heard bits and pieces of the dragon sovereign’s past.

Anyone who could make his master say “what a pity” couldn’t possibly be an ordinary person.

Leng An condensed the information into a small segment and held it in his hand. His rugged face slowly turned semi-translucent, and two glistening antennae sprouted from his forehead. His body gradually transformed into a pale blue, semi-transparent crystalline form.

He was a special lifeform, and the information transmission channels coveted by the demon and witch clans for thousands of years all belonged to them, the Special Lifeform Alliance.

His antennae touched the message paper in his hand, and the densely packed text was quickly copied onto his antennae, and then transmitted to the Special Lifeform Alliance thousands of miles away.
