7. Dream of a butterfly – 09

Over the past month, living with a woman named Bianca has taught me a lot about who she is. To be precise, it wasn’t that I had uncovered the identity of the woman Bianca, but rather that I was able to figure out a lot about Bianca as a human being.

First of all, she was really bad at cooking. He was so bad at cooking that even if he simply baked bread, he would quickly turn it into a lump of charcoal, and even if he boiled soup, he would burn it black. For anyone to see, it was clear that Bianca was not equipped with the ability to cook.

And, whenever Bianca spoiled the dish, the excuses Bianca gave were always the same.

‘Actually, I can cook with magic, but it’s okay because I just don’t do it.’

Thanks to this, I had no choice but to take on the role of cooking food in this cabin. It was also an inevitable choice in order not to starve to death.

After I finished cooking, we sat around the table and ate together. The conversation between me and her during the meal was really insignificant. Face-to-face with each other, we just talked about the trivialities of what had happened today.

And, even though they were just sharing such trivial stories, Bianca’s face was always bright and bright. As if this was all he wanted.

Also, Bianca really liked holding hands with me. When I went for a walk around the cabin with Bianca, she would run up to me and hold my hand tightly. That figure made me wonder if it was similar to a large dog following its owner. Still, Bianca’s appearance was cute, so it could be said that it was within the acceptable range.

Bianca loved kissing me. The day I first opened my eyes, ever since I kissed her, we used to kiss every once in a while. She had one habit she didn’t even know about, and that was that whenever we kissed her, she would stick her tongue out in my direction. In a way, Bianca’s appearance was just cute, and in another way, she felt like a virgin who never knew a man, so she was considered very lovable.

Thanks to that, whenever I kissed Bianca, my lips would inevitably get entangled with hers. However, seeing Bianca like that, I never thought for a second that she was lascivious. Because, in her eyes toward me, there was always love for me.

To that extent, she liked me very much. No, saying that I like it is not enough. She loved me very much. She was so devoted that she would do anything for me.

In fact, there was no way I could hate her love. No, it would be a lie to say no. I was also an upright guy. It must be absurd to say that a woman as beautiful as Bianca behaves like candy on the tongue, staring only at me blindly, and not feeling affection for seeing her like that.

So my relationship with Bianca was slowly getting closer. In a way, it might not have been natural. It might be even more strange that a man and a woman in their prime live under one roof, and nothing happens between them, when one of them has an overflowing affection for the other.

However, I couldn’t give her permission to the deepest corner of my heart. Because, in fact, I knew. That I am not here because of my own will. It was because I knew very well that that woman named Bianca was suppressing my freedom under the pretext of ‘mental and physical stability’. I didn’t know what awaited us in the outside world, but she used to show a terrifying fear of leaving.

Even so, there was nothing I could do about the fact that my heart was gradually drawn toward that woman. Maybe, as Bianca said, it might be true that she and I were in love before losing our memories. It was an imaginary idea that shouldn’t come to mind, but I also thought that living with her while being stuck in this little cabin like this wouldn’t be a bad choice either.

…But, that’s not what happened. Every time I was tempted to forget everything about the outside world and live a leisurely life with Bianca, it would be accompanied by a throbbing headache in a corner of my head. Perhaps, it seemed that the memories I had lost must be playing the role of the last bastion to prevent such actions from me.

Over the past month, living in this cabin, I didn’t just eat rice or engage in affectionate acts with Bianca. In other words, I tried hard to find out the truth about the situation I was in by looking at the phenomenon that happened to me and Bianca’s reaction to the various questions I asked.

There was no need to forcefully recall the forgotten memories. Just by carefully observing the current situation surrounding me, I could easily guess how things were going.

“Cain-!”

It was then. At the same time as the cabin window opened, a woman leaned over and shouted my name in a loud voice.

“It’s time to eat! Come in quickly! Before the food gets cold!”

Thoughts of what kind of bizarre food he has created on the subject of not being able to bake bread properly run through his head. Even though she was a wizard who would be treated well wherever she went outside, I couldn’t possibly hate her at all, as if she were just an ordinary country girl stuck in a secluded cabin like this, worrying about food.

“…Come to think of it, it’s already been a month since I stayed here.”

After being locked up in a small cabin, a month had passed since he joined her in her house play.

It seemed that sooner or later, the time to settle everything would come. With that thought in mind, I sighed and moved to the cute cabin where I was living with Bianca. It’s not like I’ve made food that people can pick up and eat, so I thought to myself that it would take quite a while to make it again from scratch.

In the northeast of the continent, there is a huge forest that people call the Great Forest. It is a place like a scene in a fairy tale where you can easily find traces of spirits and fairies, who can be said to be friends of elves, and where huge trees that are not often found on the continent grow.

Also, in the middle of the great forest, there is a huge world tree that is said to have been protecting the world itself from the time of creation until now. Although no one has confirmed its true nature thanks to the strange mist that surrounds the entire Great Grove.

“Huh, I’ve heard about it through rumors, but it’s a really strange place.”

And, as she made her way through the strange fog surrounding the Great Forest, Iris unknowingly exclaimed in admiration. It was because the fog that surrounded her now had the effect of partially obstructing her senses after reaching the level of a Master. Indeed, there was a reason why no human could set foot in this forest without the permission of the elves for the past thousand years.

“…Doesn’t it seem like you’re walking out too smoothly for something like that?”

However, seeing Iris walking forward without a moment’s hesitation for saying such words, Aria spat out the words as if she was absurd.

“Even though this fog is interfering with my five senses, it can’t even interfere with the senses I’ve cultivated as a martial artist. You are the one who follows me well. If you get lost in a forest like this, you won’t be able to find it easily.”

Arya tried to get a little annoyed at Iris’ words, treating her as a child, but she had no choice but to nod her head slightly. Iris’s help was essential, at least until Cain’s whereabouts were found, so there was nothing good about arguing with her.

It was at that time that Iris and Arya silently made their way through the fog-filled forest. A strange sensation that she felt somewhere made Iris stop her steps.

“…Hmm. Are you here to greet guests? It’s a lot later than I expected. To be so lazy in escorting a lady is a step not befitting the reputation of a forest tribe.”

cuneiform-

No sooner had she finished speaking, five or six arrows pierced the fog and shot at Iris. Despite seeing the sight of arrows flying towards her, Iris just stared blankly at them with a sullen expression.

In the first place, an arrow like this could not do any harm to her body, and it was because she believed in the skills of the cute wizard accompanying her.

Pajijik-!

Five electric currents bounced from Arya’s hand, and all of the arrows that were attacking Iris were deflected. And, the man who shot the arrow, the male elf, opened his eyes wide involuntarily at the scene.

‘To cast enough magic to deflect an arrow in that instant!’

It was a sight that was hard to believe even when I saw it with my own eyes. It only took less than 2 seconds for him to shoot an arrow and reach the target, but in that short time, did he use magic powerful enough to deflect his arrow? Besides, the arrows he shot were imbued with the power of spirits, so I couldn’t have shaken them off with normal power! Could it be that the white-haired woman had reached the level of an archmage?

“…why didn’t you avoid it?”

“Well, it wasn’t an attack aimed at a vital point, and it was because I believed in you decisively. Anyway, the casting speed is really fast. In terms of magic skill alone, it’s not that inferior even compared to Bianca del Castana.”

“You speak as if you know her well.”

“Yes, it is because I have known Bianca del Castana for quite some time. Officially, it’s just that there hasn’t been any contact.”

Arya and Iris exchanged words with each other in a tone that didn’t feel any tension, then turned their heads to the elf who fired an arrow at them as if they had suddenly remembered.

“You understand now? I have no intention of antagonizing the elves. I just want you to understand that I’ve only come here for business.”

“…We do not allow anyone to enter the interior unless we have given permission in advance.”

Iris just shrugged her shoulders at the elf’s harsh words.

“I am well aware of that, but I am very busy right now. It is a situation where every minute and every second is regrettable, but time is not overflowing enough to leisurely accept your permission. Of course, I apologize for treating them with such rudeness.”

Saying that, the elf made a puzzled expression toward Iris, who bowed her head toward her. Judging by her tone of voice and her actions, it was clear that the human woman in front of her had no ordinary status. So, rather than blindly hostile to those women, I decided to have a conversation with them first.

“…Human woman. What is your business?”

Iris gave a slight smile at the elf’s words, then opened her mouth.

“I only have one business. Kyrie el Denaris, the guardian of the World Tree, I just have a story I want to share with her. I have no interest in entering the realm of the elves. I just have a story I want to share with her openly.”

At Iris’ words, the elf narrowed his eyes. Aside from the fact that he, the guardian in charge of the borders of the Great Forest at best, had no authority to pass them through, he could easily notice that the power of those human women far exceeded his expectations. Because.

However, that was the moment when the agony of the elves gradually deepened because it was impossible to open the way for them by yielding to their armed force.

[…You do that. lane. Please guide them to where I am.]

It was then. Clearly, there were no people near them, but a certain refreshing voice reached their ears on the wind.

“…uh? how?”

Hearing that voice, Arya looked around without realizing it. Since entering this forest, I have never let my guard down for a moment. Where did this voice come from?

“He must have conveyed his voice through the forest spirit. Because she was, and still is, a woman who enjoys pretending to be mysterious.”

“…Please do not insult the Guardian.”

When the elf spoke to Iris in a somewhat tired voice, she only replied in a deft voice.

“Oh, sorry about that. Still, I hope you understand. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on my way to see an old friend, so I’m just spitting out farmland streets because I’m nervous.”

Aria tilted her head next to Iris who was giggling and spitting out such words.

“…Princess, didn’t you say that today is the first time you’re coming to Daesilim? But how can I become friends with the guardian of the World Tree?”

At Arya’s question, Iris glanced back at her and only smiled.

“Sometimes, isn’t it possible that friendships that transcend time and space can be established?”

“…Yes, just like you and Cain entered into a master-servant relationship.”
