29 – Attribute Magic – 1

Two weeks have passed since I entered Arcana.

And in the meantime, unfortunately or fortunately, nothing happened after the weekend outing.

It was really a peaceful day like every day.

Talk about Helen and her knights.

While occasionally chatting with the crown prince.

Rei wanted to talk to me as well as before, but she thought she alone needed time to sort out her mind.

Anyway, after studying for the day, go to a cafe and drink sweet iced chocolate. It’s a peaceful day.

But I already knew.

The fact that these peaceful days are the beginning of a typhoon that is about to come.

“My seniors told me that professors of attribute magic are strict.”

“Because it is such a difficult and dangerous class. It is to prevent accidents.”

In Arcana, majors are only divided, but in reality, most of the classes are in the form of taking together.

The reason was that there was no need to separate the students since the average number of students enrolled each year was around 80.

If there were differences depending on the major, it was the content of the test and the priority of applying for additional classes.

And the class I’m taking right now, Attribute Magic, was one of those additional classes.

All humans in this world have magical powers.

Basically, magic has no properties, and properties are created by refining and converting magic.

A total of five attributes.

Fire, water, earth, wind, light.

Most commoners can only transform into one of these attributes, and nobles average two. Starting from 3, it is completely an individual talent area.

But usually attribute magic was a field that didn’t need to be learned separately.

I can do most things just by refining my magic.

There is no need to invest time in difficult and dangerous attribute magic.

The reason attribute magic developed, however, was that it could show tremendous performance based on skilled people.

For example, the female lead in the original work. Sophia’s overwhelming talent for light magic.

In order to use the light attribute basic healing magic she uses as her magical power before transformation, she needs to invest dozens of times more magical power.

Considering those aspects, attribute magic was a necessary study in this world.

“Did I apply for nothing?”

Of course, that didn’t mean the class was necessary for me either.

In the first place, Ike was not in the attribute magic class in the original work.

I don’t know if it’s because I failed to register for the course or if I didn’t intend to take it in the first place.

I can only predict that it will probably be the latter.

The attributes that can be converted into Ike’s body are earth and wind.

But I wasn’t talented.

Because the speed of my attribute conversion was extremely slow.

Unlike expanding the magical path, this part is completely the realm of talent, so me and the original Ike won’t be very different.

Considering that, there was certainly no reason for Ike in the original work to study attribute magic.

Still, there was only one reason why I applied for attribute magic.

Because attribute magic is the only class in which Reina, Sophia, and the crown prince all gather among the additional classes.

The conflict between Reina and Sophia.

The relationship between Sophia and the crown prince.

The gap between Reina and the prince.

The scene where their relationship continues and twists is almost always in this class.

Knowing that fact, I couldn’t let go and watch it.

And today was the first day of Attribute Magic.

“Does any student know why attribute magic is a difficult and dangerous class?”

Professor Dande of attribute magic asked us in the classroom.

It was the prince who raised his hand to that question.

“This is because attribute magic implemented incorrectly creates a runaway phenomenon of magical power.”

“You are correct, Your Highness Leon.”

Professor Dande slowly began writing down the contents of the lesson on the blackboard.

“Ordinary magic is a power that transcends human limitations. Body strengthening magic shows that aspect most intuitively.”

From nob le mt l dot com

Professor Dande took his walnut out of his pocket and held it tightly with his right hand.

When he opened his hand a moment later, his walnut was completely shattered.

“And attribute magic is a power that goes beyond the limits of magic and realizes miracles by going through several additional processes.”

From nob le mt l dot com

Professor Dande quietly put the kernel of his walnut into his mouth and continued his speech.

“But artificially invoking miracles means temporarily ignoring the rules of the world. Runaway magic is what happens when you ignore the rules of the world and go through the wrong process. You all know the damage it caused.”

When the magic power runs out of control, the caster’s magic path is not torn apart, but completely broken.

The magic power isolated in the fragments of the broken magic furnace is trying to forcefully flow in order to realize the magic.

It gradually heats up the body, and literally explodes the moment it reaches a certain level.

A 100m radius could be lost without a trace with just the slightest runaway of mana.

That’s why, in a way, attribute magic that can force mana to run wild is not unusually dangerous.

“Anyway, attribute magic is the power to realize miracles. And we pay the price for him in mana. And in order to pay this price, spells are the way to break down the walls of the world.”

From nob le mt l dot com

Professor Dande wrote a sentence at the bottom of the blackboard.

‘Flame, attack the enemy.’

“This is the basic fire attribute magic. This is the basic spell formula for Fireball.”

From nob le mt l dot com

Professor Dande looked at us and stretched out his right hand toward the wall.

“Fire, attack the enemy.”

And as he quietly cast a spell, a fireball materialized and flew towards the wall.

I was worried that there might be an accident, but his magic completely disappeared before he hit the wall.

“The order ceremony, of course, has many meanings. And depending on how accurately you understand what it means, you can change a lot.”

Professor Dande then drew an X on the fireball spell.

“And now, if you fully understand this formula, you will be able to use elemental magic without casting spells.”

He stretched out his right hand again toward the wall.

Then he didn’t say anything this time, but the fireball was implemented.

As before, the fireball is gone before hitting the wall.

“This is the end of today’s theory class. From now on, we will distribute prints with basic magic spells suitable for individual attributes. And I’ll see you again in an hour at the Attribute Magic Training Center.”

Professor Dande handed out the prints, bowed his head slightly, and left the classroom.

“What the hell are you talking about?”

Dande, I couldn’t leave the classroom even after receiving the printouts the professor handed out.

The basic magic of the earth was ‘gnomes’ that summoned a wall of earth.

The basic magic of wind was ‘Wind Worker’, which creates a platform for wind.

And each order. ‘Earth, rise high’ and ‘Wind, make a road.’

“… I don’t know.”

Until here, of course, but there was nothing to memorize.

But the problem was figuring out the meaning of this spell.

Spells spoken in this world are simply the translation of the rules of the world into human language.

It is attribute magic that defines the rules of the world with words, and realizes miracles by offering mana in exchange.

In other words, it was necessary to understand these rules in order to properly use attribute magic.

You can use attribute magic simply by memorizing spells.

If that happened, the performance of the magic would greatly decrease, and there would be a chance that the mana would run out of control, so it was a method that could not be used.

After all, this meant that in order to properly take this class, you had to understand the spell perfectly.

“Why is it connected with a spell like this?”

In fact, the explanation of the order written on the print was kind.

I just couldn’t understand.

“Damn it.”

All the students except me have already left the classroom.

I wonder if I was the only one who couldn’t keep up with this class, and I broke into a cold sweat at the same thought.

Of course, the biggest reason I’m taking this class is because it’s a class where Reina, Sophia, and the crown prince all gather.

But that doesn’t mean I’m going to skip this class.

If you think about the many incidents that will happen in the future, the more things you can do, the better.

“Why the hell is this….”

“Princess Ike.”

While I was racking my brains over the interpretation of the spell, someone spoke to me from behind.

“You seem to be in a lot of trouble. Can I help you a little?”

When I turned my back, Reina was standing there with a faint smile.

The conversation I had with Reina in about two weeks was more normal than I thought.

Reina seemed calmer than she thought, and she felt more settled than when we first met in Arcana.

“Princess Ike seems to be thinking too hard about the spell right now.”

After she listened to my concerns, she began to organize things simply.

“The professor said earlier. If you fully understand the spell, you can cast magic without chanting. In other words, the order has its own correct answer.”

“You mean memorize it?”

“Similar but slightly different. It’s all personal to have your own correct answer in the order. For example, there is a difference between the interpretation written here and the image I have of gnomes.”

After listening to Reina’s explanation, I thought that her head was slowly loosening up.

“In other words. The interpretation of the spell written on this print is correct, but it is not.”

It was similar that it still felt difficult, but it was no longer an unknown difficulty.

“Professor Dande’s words ultimately mean that you should create an individual equation that allows you to derive your own correct answer. After all, what attribute magic has to do is invent new magic.”

After Reina explained everything, I closed her eyes and slowly held out her right hand.

Then he put the order into his mouth.

“O wind.”

The converted wind attribute mana began to flow from his body.

I completely erased the meaning of the spell I had just read.

What do I need now to realize this miracle?

I only asked myself that.

A platform of wind that allows you to freely go anywhere you need.

“Make a way.”

And at the same time as finishing the chanting of the spell.

“Congratulations, Prince Ike.”

The miracle was realized.

“I got a letter saying that Anna has returned to Heros.”

“I’m glad.”

After I succeeded in implementing the wind walkers and gnomes, we had a conversation in the classroom.

Reina, who was the first to leave the classroom earlier, wondered why she came back, and she probably wanted to tell this story.

“Aren’t you surprised?”

“Actually, I also got a letter.”

I didn’t feel the need to hide it, so I told the truth.

While she was resting in her dormitory yesterday, she received a letter from Anna.

The content was plain that she had now returned to the duke’s house, and that she had written a letter to Reina.

“Since I can’t return to Heros yet, it will be a while before I see your face.”

So, and Reyna had her say.

“Thanks, Ike.”

At her thanks, I was speechless.

I didn’t say what the thanks were for, but I could roughly guess the intention.

I had no doubt that Anna would have written my story in the letter she sent to Rayna.

From nob le mt l dot com

Perhaps it was the answer she deduced on her own.

“Don’t say anything.”

In the end, all I could say was this.

A small smile appeared on Reina’s lips when she heard the answer.
