Chapter 63 – Traitor

“It looks like there’s a rat among our colleagues who’s intriguing with those Black Round Table bastards.”

I couldn’t believe it. Even after looking through the original work or the first DLC, I couldn’t find anything like that.

“There’s a… traitor among us? Can you be sure of that now, sister?”

“There is a 90% chance that there will be a traitor, and a 10% chance that there won’t be, no less than that.”

Traitors, scumbags that the world should never forgive. Betrayal is treated as a serious crime in any country or religion in the world. In Dante’s Divine Comedy, aren’t the three bastards Satan chews also traitors? One of them, Judas Iscariot, is a bastard traitor who betrayed Jesus and even kissed him.

If there is such a traitor bastard among us, isn’t it the duty of the youngest and companion to kill him directly?

“So the proof…?”

You should be very careful about blindly calling people traitors. Otherwise, chasing traitors through ignorance is no different from the ignorant Me Too meta in the 21st century Korea.

“… First of all, I was aware that we were going on a journey. Except for the people involved, very few people know about it.”

“What is the possibility that there is a traitor in that ‘minority’?”

“I thought so too at first. But…”

Melissa put down her fork and knife and began tapping the table with her index finger.

“The few don’t even know our destination or route.”

“What are you talking about?”

“They’ve been attacking me everywhere I go.”

The damn cubs have attacked? If the top executives attacked there, even if it was a party of heroes including Zeke, there would be no safety.

“Sister, brother, are you not hurt because of those bastards?”

It is a group with a guy who handles a magic sword that destroys magic circuits. They are cowardly bastards who don’t know what kind of dirty demonic sword or poison they might use. Even if he was overwhelmed by his skills, it would be a big deal if he fell for such a cowardly act.

“No, you weren’t so poor that you yawned?”

What? Is Werner still stinging after getting beaten up by rotten worms when he was little? This weak, water-bodied bastard.

“The leader or the Heavenly Demon handled it alone? We didn’t even have time to step out.”

Melchior, who had been silently listening to the story, also began to help.

“I’ve captured one alive and even tortured it, but there’s not much information about it. It must be nothing more than a small minnow.”

“You sent those minions to deal with the older brothers and sisters?

Isn’t it like sending a few elementary school students to stop the Tyrannosaurus? It reminded me of the wise man, Mr. Jirobo, saying that if the leader is foolish, the subordinates have a lot of trouble. Sir, your philosophy seems to work here as well.

“That’s a question for us as well. At most, it’s difficult to even tie our ankles. At most, there are more bugs than just mosquitoes that bother us.”

“Hmm… It’s definitely strange. I don’t know what those bastards are aiming for.”

“Anyway, there’s no way to explain that you know our route, other than that there’s an infiltrator among us.”

Melissa’s analysis was certainly plausible. Unless one of the parties is in the middle of the day, there is no way to plant a person in each route and launch a surprise attack. Although it’s a little embarrassing that the level of those ambush guys is low.

“Do you have any idea who the traitor bastard is?”

“Not at all. It was only recently that there was speculation that there was a traitor in the first place…”

At least the Werner colleagues I knew weren’t the ones to betray. But even that is just their ‘character’ that I analyzed. The personalities and backgrounds of real people are so complex that it is difficult to compare them with the game’s ‘character’. If those colleagues also have circumstances beyond their control, or if they have a different side other than the personality they showed… Even I can’t identify the culprit.

“First of all, it won’t be your brother or sister…”

“”No, that’s not a problem.””

“What?”

Could it be that these people were traitors? Then where is the cheap twist?

“Maknae. There’s no proof that I’m not a traitor… and there’s no proof that my honey isn’t a traitor.”

“Yes, I have no proof that my wife is not a traitor.”

“But my older brother and sister will betray me…”

Before I could finish my words, Melissa and Melchior’s blades were touching my neck. Even if they give me a little bit of strength, I will become a corpse with my head cut off.

“The youngest, you are still naive.”

‘You must have been tricked, the youngest.’ I thought of the traumatic line, but I decided to skip it.

“In order to live, don’t be suspicious of this brother or others. The only person who stabs you in the back is always the one you believed you could entrust your back to.”

“So don’t trust us too much. Then we die.”

Oh did that mean No matter how peaceful the world may seem, it is a jungle-like place full of trickery. Just because you’re a close older brother or a close older sister means that if you trust him, it’s easy to go to the goal. In fact, debt fraud is a common occurrence between family and friends.

“Okay. So get off… before I use magic to blow it up.”

“What kind of habit are you talking to your sister!”

“You’re trying to blow up a possible traitor suspect, but what’s the matter?”

“Come on, let’s have a magical conversation about who’s the traitor while beating each other with magic.”

Melchior eventually lifted Melissa, who was very angry and attacked, and it was even funny to see Melissa struggling alone in the air.

“Let go! Let the maknae do some character education today!!!”

“Why don’t you get used to Werner’s doing that for a day or two?”

Melchior, who was suppressing the rampaging Melissa, turned to me and said.

“So I’m asking you, Werner…”

“What is it, bro?”

“That unlucky knight commander bastard… No, Ricardo, please investigate that bastard.”

I don’t think there’s any point in correcting the words… No, rather, the latter seemed more severe because it was a double desire. Come to think of it, the relationship between the two has been at its worst ever since <Dragnity Fantasy 1>.

Ricardo Carben, a knight who served as the party’s second tank in the game. Coming from a family of knights loyal to the Empire, he was not on good terms with Melchior in many ways, both in past and personality. When Melchior’s father was accused of being a traitor, it must have been the Karven family who rushed ahead and killed Melchior’s father and mother even though they were investigating.

Of course, the problem later turned out to be a misunderstanding and was resolved between the parties involved… But Melchior still hated the Carven family. Naturally, he had a bad relationship with Ricardo, the heir of the family. I thought it had loosened up a bit, but we still had a bad relationship.

“Why is that older brother? Wasn’t that older brother in the capital?”

“Yeah, even when the leader was summoned, he only showed his face and left, you fucking gay bastard!”

Ricardo clearly remembers having a wife and a daughter… but since I remember being a person as I like, it seems that my memory is very slightly distorted.

“But that older brother doesn’t know where he’s going.”

“Werner, we have to do a regular route and let you know our next destination.”

I certainly heard that. After all, each party member was as powerful as a nuclear weapon, so such a report was essential. If you say that you are going on a journey with stupid words and suddenly rebel, there is no answer.

“The bastard who receives that call is Ricardo, that naughty bastard. That’s right. Even if we’re always gathered together, it’s possible for us to communicate with each other if we’re separated.”

It seems like the level of profanity is getting worse, but it must be because of my mood.

“So, you and your sister are convinced that Ricardo is a traitor, right?”

“I’m still at the level of doubt… but my husband seems to have reached the level of certainty.”

“I’m sure he’s that bastard!!! Grab the evidence! I’m going to crush that bastard’s crotch and suck his brains out!!!”

A rather cruel story came and went because of the excited Melchior… I was suspicious of Ricardo, too.

If there was something suspicious between the party members moving together, they would have noticed it right away. They are co-workers who have lived together and gone through childbirth, can’t they notice it?

If so, the only remaining suspect is Ricardo, but just looking at mysteries, wouldn’t it be suspicious to be a kid who walks alone like that?

“Okay, I’ll look into Ricardo’s side. Brother and sister watch over the other brothers and sisters.”

“okay.”

We cannot rule out the possibility that someone other than Ricardo is a traitor, or that there are traitors besides Ricardo.
