I Shall Be Happy

(Karl's POV)

"So Athanatos-kun... You don't know who you are beside your name?" I asked this boy while staring at him seriously. He doesn't even seem to faze by the slightest and just keeps looking at me with his dark eyes.

[No.]

I see, so he's a boy with a few words. However, I feel that this boy is dangerous. No. He's dangerous. My Ackermann blood is telling me so. Even if I don't look like so, killing and hunting is my 2nd nature. I have killed countless animals and men, and yet the boy in front of me can make me feel... fear

This is gonna be a big headache. Fortunately, this boy seems grateful for us taking him in.

"Athanatos-kun, so you don't know who your parents are?" My wife finally spoke up seeing me not knowing how to converse at all.

[I don't know]

I'm trying very hard to ignore the fact that he doesn't speak at all. It feels like someone is talking right into my head, this feeling is so weird and somewhat unpleasant. I think I should ask Dr. Yeager to put him into the orphanage. It seems my wife is troubled too.

"Athanatos-kun, how about living in the orphanage?"

I finally brought up this fact after contemplating it for a while. Ouch. I think I'm being stared daggers by my daughter. Does she like this kid? To be honest, I don't want to raise another child, especially this dangerous kid. We're quite poor too so...

Urghh, what is this feeling? Something is crawling inside my body. Is this the boy's doing.

"What are you doing? Boy?" I raised my voice slightly in anger and the feeling quickly disappeared soon after.

[No. I will live alone.]

The boy replied surprised me almost making me forget about that weird feeling. If it's just a normal child, living alone would almost guarantee death. Well, living in the orphanage isn't that much different.

Then my wife, Mikan, offered a different solution. "How about living with us for a while? We can teach you some things about this country."

Sometimes I feel like my wife is like an angel. Her angel-like smile always melt my heart even if we're old now. If this boy causes a big problem for my family, I won't hesitate to throw him away, worse I might have to kill him.

After she said that, silence ensued. He stared at her for a while until Mikasa finally says something.

"We can also be friends!" She seems a bit shy but that's expected, she doesn't socialize with any boys beside me. I'm not giving her to him if this boy gets any idea though. No way! Then I stared at the boy like I wanted to strangle him while imagining my little girl marrying this guy. IMPOSSIBLE!

He probably felt my stare so he turned around and see me staring daggers at him. Then for a brief moment, I felt like I was about to die. I choked a bit, but then relax after the feeling disappeared. No seriously, what was that? It was like seeing a 20 ft titan running toward me like I was food. This boy is not normal.

"Welcome to the family! Athanatos-kun" (Mikan)

"YES! WELCOME!"(Mikasa)

Then it's my turn I guess.

"Welcome to the family, Athanotos-kun."

I said to him while offering the best smile i can managed right now, but my lip can't help but twitch a little.
