I Was a Swordsman in Ancient Japan

Postscript of Volume 5 (Part 2)

(????)??Hi! tortured!

This is Shu Mengshi, an amateur novelist who has been recuperating his body recently.

Volume 5 "Kyoto Summer Array" is finally over.

The total word count is the same as I expected at the end of Volume 4—about 300,000 words.

The 45th chapters from 288th to 333th of this volume are all about stories that happened [one night]. The total number of words is about 230,000 words.

The longest night in Shin Ogata's life. (laugh)

The inspiration for this volume comes from the encyclopedia entry of "Tianming Fire" when I searched for information.

After learning that such a terrifying fire happened in Kyoto in 1788, a steady stream of inspiration and ideas began to pop up in my mind.

I integrated these ideas and created this volume.

When the serialization of this volume first started, many book friends wondered whether the Tianming Fire was man-made.

In the end, the mystery was finally revealed-the Tianming fire was not man-made.

But such a big damage is man-made.

Many historical figures appeared in this volume.

The name of Owari feudal clan [Tokugawa Zongmu], Kyoto Sochi [Toda Tadahiro], Temple Shrine [Ota Souai], Osaka Castle [Horida Masatsu], and the founder of Natural Rishinryu [Kondo Uchizosuke], the above Gang people are all historical figures.

Although I have made some magical changes to these historical figures (laughs).

Historically, Toda Tadahiro's term of office in Kyoto was from 1784 to 1789.

After Toda Tadahiro stepped down, Ota Sziai took over the post of the Kyoto Secretary. His term of office was from 1789 to 1792.

That is to say, if the plot is arranged according to historical facts, Ogata and the others are currently in the timeline (1790), and the predecessor of Kyoto should be Ota Souai.

But I finally decided to let Toda Tadahiro do the Kyoto Shoshoji for one more year (laughs).

The reason is simple-Toda Tadahiro's character is especially suitable for magic transformation.

What did Toda Tadahiro do after he retired from the Kyoto office — I couldn't find out at all.

This kind of person who doesn't know what to do afterwards is most suitable for demonic reform (laughs).

The serialization of Volume 5, to be honest-very difficult.

It's not that the fifth volume is so difficult to write, but when the fifth volume is serialized, the actual situation of the author here frequently appears.

First, at the end of January, the internship materials should be worked out.

After finishing the internship materials with great difficulty, I suddenly don't know if it is due to excessive staying up late or for some reason.

Finally, I adjusted my body a little better, and I came across extra activities again.

The three days of writing the Fanwai were really difficult. Under the circumstance of ensuring that the update of the main text will not be interrupted, I also wrote a 30,000-word Dafanwai.

After successfully rushing through the extravaganza, the author successfully started to adjust his physical state from zero (the leopard has a headache and crying).

But in general, Volume 5 ended very smoothly.

"While describing the story of Ogata and the others, it also showed the various attitudes of Kyoto at that time"-I was writing this book with this idea.

So you can see in this volume: the mother-in-law who was struggling with her family destroyed by the fire at dawn, but still has a strong life, the ordinary people of Kyoto looking forward to the "Yanjiu patrol", and those who live in the "Huiyuan" that "the public can't see." People", the only way to participate in the Gion Festival is to watch the fireworks, the residents of the burnt area whose homes have not been rebuilt, the people who feel that being bullied is justified Bureaucrats, officials who are forced to perform tasks they do not want to perform...

The overall psychological feeling of the serialized volume is painful and happy, but after seeing the volume finally take shape and successfully concluded, I still feel relieved.

In short-thank you very much for your support!

Starting tomorrow, the sixth volume of "Edo Castle Gozen Examination" will begin.

I hope everyone can subscribe on time~~

I can't think of anything else I want to say, so let's end the postscript for this time.

My deepest thanks to all those who support this book!
