I Was Reborn To Be The Evil Queen

My breathing became faster. First time in my life, I am going to participate in a royal gathering. Even the sound of it makes my heart flutter. Like a child, my curiosity and excitement made me act restless. I was feeling so nervous.

" Don't be nervous. I'm here with you." Woah there! Are you a mind reader or what? His meek smile only made me feel embarrassed as it was so obvious that my expressions are easy to read.

" .... Thanks." That's all I could manage to say after being dazzled by his stunning looks. Clutching onto his bulky arm, we walked into the ball room. The heels were making my foot ache although I remained my posture. My whole body was shaking so much that I'll go crazy.

Thankfully, Timothy lend me his support which helped me to calm down my inner self. The moment we entered, all the eyes were at us as if we were the main attraction of this whole banquet.

" Greetings Your highness and His Majesty." A guy in his mid forties came forward to welcome us. I guess he's the host of this banquet, Vice count himself. He had a very handsome face despite of his age, golden blond hair and green eyes.

After greeting the person I separated myself from Timothy. More and more guests were coming at us to introduce their selves which is a bother to me. That's why I walked away to a lonely corner of the banquet hall.

My eyes began to explore the large banquet hall. There were so many aristocrats couples. Children were not invited to this party so I wasn't expecting to see one. My eyes were searching for a certain person who was my only friend, Kathryn.

Isn't she here already?

Please don't tell me that she won't be coming to the party. I'm gonna have a hard time surviving here all by myself.

Dear lord! Take my life already!

The smile of mine dropped off thinking about such disturbing possibilities. My mood turned sour and annoyed. At that time I heard a familiar voice.

" Lucinda." I turned my head and there she was.

" God! I thought you ditched me. Seriously! Girl, I thought you won't be coming here." There was no need for me to chain my words to my mouth. I believe that Kathryn is a trustworthy friend. She won't feel uncomfortable hopefully.

" Fufu! How I can break my promise? Of course I'm going to attend this banquet with you, my dear friend." She replied with a smug face, chuckling softly. My eyes were fixated on her appearance.

She looks so gorgeous even though she wasn't wearing way too many jewellery like me. Her pretty smooth skin sparked with the red tint of her cheeks. Her chocolatey brown hair was tied beautifully with braid and ornaments. Such a beautiful lady is my friend.

I'm so blessed!

" Hmm, good. I like your loyalty. You're a woman of your words, Kathryn." Patting on her shoulder I replied.

" Oh you flatter me! By the way where's His majesty?"

" My husband? Yeah who knows. I'm not really bothered by that." Rolling my eyes upwards, I showed her utter annoyance.

" You're so cold, Lucy."

" Not colder than winter's night."

" Hahaha. How cheeky!"

" Actually every single guest was gathering up to greet us. I somehow managed to escape from their eagle eyes."

" And let your husband suffer alone?"

" Sure. I don't mind." With a snicker I replied. "Besides they're only interested to meet me for their own benefits. Since I'm the queen, I can ignore them if I wish, right?"

" Most certainly." I knew that I can't ignore them for long. But now that I have Kathryn with me, I'm confident enough to face them. Let's just hope things goes well.

" Enough about my husband. Where's yours?"

" He's also with some other people. I came by myself to find you."

" Sisters before misters!"

" I'm happy to see you enjoying the evening." Putting on her gentle smile, Kathryn said. Her gaze was filled with warmness.

" Yeah me too. I didn't expect to have fun here." Maybe because I have Kathryn. Or maybe because I was being suffocated within the walls of the royal palace and finally I escaped from there. "Let's go eat something. I'm starving."

" I'll be joining you then." As Kathryn spoke, we went to the dinner table.

We came to the table where foods were placed. All sorts of items were there to choose from. Be it the meat dish or vegan dish or dessert. I already filled up my plate with tiny cupcakes. They were calling out for me so, how can I ignore them?

Right?

" Oh Lucy! Look at your plate! Are you planning to eat those cupcakes only?" Raising up her eyebrows, Kathryn said or more like scolded me.

" Maybe?" I replied while having my mouth filled with cupcake. Honestly, I was not guilty at all.

" Seriously? Well you can pick something savoury."

" Hmm. I'll try the roasted lamb." As my eyes fell on the roasted lamb, I picked it although I wasn't really planning on having a meat dish, " Why don't you suggest me some?" I asked Kathryn since she likes roasted meats and other meat dishes.

" So, how's the situation at the palace?" Kathryn asked as we were eating our foods. I have already told her about the whole plan. So, she was asking me about the results.

" Lily is safe at my home. Eleanor is rotting in the cold palace. That girl is a hard nut to crack. She's smart enough to keep the ghost incident to herself. But we really enjoyed seeing her all scared. Her face was hilarious! If only you had seen it with your eyes. She was literally shaking."

" Hearing about it makes me want to see it with my own eyes. Sadly that can't be done." If only I could record it on a phone or camera. Old time sucks! They don't have those technologies yet. I miss my life in future. It was definitely not better than here but some things were good.

" Anyway I'm thinking about a new plan."

" A new plan?"

" Yes. It's time for Martha to learn some lessons. She's gonna be my next target. Fufu!"

" Good luck with that. Oh! How's prince Alex?"

" He's doing fine. How's your daughter Rosalinda?"

" She's doing great. Let's have a tea party again." You took the words out of my mouth. Even I was thinking about visiting your place.

" Yeah. Even Alex was telling me to visit your house. He wants to meet his friend desperately." Laughing as I remembered how Alex was requesting me.

" Young love."

" Don't say it like that. It makes us, moms look old. I don't have any wrinkles yet."

" Your beauty won't fade away so soon." No Kathryn, you're wrong. This beauty isn't mine. I'm so guilty for deceiving you. Will you still think of me as a friend when you will realise that I'm not Lucinda?

Maybe you will. But that's just a delusion of mine. Because I know you won't. Not you, not Anna, not Alex not even Timothy.

" Same goes for you." My heart became heavy with just a simple sentence. Let's just continue this pretending game. When the time comes I'll get my answers, for sure.

" Oh! You're here." A worried voice spoke out to me, making me look up. It was Timothy. Great! There goes my peace.

" Greetings, Your majesty." Kathryn got up from the chair and bowed down her head.

" Your highness, what bring you here?" I asked him while frowning rudely. Of course I would be irritated after being interrupted by this shit bag.

" I was just looking for you. Uhh.... would you like to have a dance with me?" He wasn't ordering me. It was a request. Kathryn gave me smirk when my eyes went to her. Yeah, yeah, I know what you mean.

She wants me to go there and dance with this sc.u.mbag.

" Sure." Since he asked so nicely I decided to join him. My dancing skills aren't that good but let's prey that I won't step on him.

" I felt lonely without you."

" Excuse me?" I couldn't heard what he said as the music was loud. It wasn't clear but the words I heard may not be true.

" I said that I felt lonely without you." Holy smokes! He really did said that. Is he a child?

" I am sorry if I made you feel that way. I was just catching up with my friend." Rather than dragging it further, I apologised to him making a puppy eyes. Even though I had done nothing wrong he was complaining me for chatting with my friend.

" Ah!.... it's fine. It must be boring for you.... to spend time with me." Wait what? Are you nagging me? You punk! What is this situation? I'm being treated as the bad guy here. I thought you were having fun with all the people l.i.c.k.i.n.g your boots.

" That's not it." I let out a giggle to lighten up the tension between us. " I do enjoy spending time with you."

" Really? Then I'm glad. It's been so long since we attended a banquet together." His jewel like eyes were focus on me, making my stomach curl up. His mouth shaped into a delightful smile and then I did a mistake. I stepped on his foot.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

" From today onwards, I will join you in every banquet and other occasions." I quickly grabbed his arm tightly and gave him a smile. Oh god! I'm sure I looked weird.

" That makes my heart lighter. Although my foot is hurting." Shit! He just had to say that out loud. I'm so embarrassed. My face tuned red like a tomato. I can't even control my blush or my expressions.

The rest of the dance went silent. I kept my head down while trying to avoid his stare. Right now, I just wanna go home as soon as possible. It's really humiliating.
