Chapter 2

Anais’ eyes, whose hands were brushed aside, became blank.

Oliver, who was watching the scene, decided to step in before things get any worse.

“Come on, everybody leave, please. His Highness still needs to rest.”

“……..”

Anais looked down at her hands without saying anything.

I always touched the soil with my hands that were grabbing him earlier.

In comparison to his clean and elegant hand that she had held on to just now, it was embarrassing.

Logan ran to get Helmina in a hurry because he was afraid she’d change her mind.

On the way, he realized that he forgot to ask Oliver to take care of Anais.

He said that he will come with me to ensure my safety, but in fact, it was done so that they can keep a close eye on me just in case I decide to run away and never come back.

Only an awkward atmosphere was left, and Oliver, who couldn’t stand the awkward silence, spoke first.

Logan, who suddenly disappeared earlier, broke the brief silence between the two.

“Miss Anais! I’ve arrived. This is Sir Helmina.”

“Even when the Northern Confederate defense was breached, I didn’t need to work this hard.”

Bill Helmina, who was almost carrying Logan on his shoulder, complained.

Similar to Logan, Helmina was a former soldier and was not an easy person to meet.

I didn’t understand why I needed to be escorted by a former soldier, but I couldn’t refuse Logan when I heard that it was one of Todd’s orders before the accident happened.

Logan was relieved to see that Helmina was the one who would escort Anais.

Helmina has a simple personality and was not too classy, which can help Anais not to think too deeply about Todd losing his memories.

And, in the meantime, he’s going to torment Oliver until the Duke completely recovers.

He thought of the people who were at the funeral hall of Duchess Darya.

Those people went around and enjoyed listening to talks about how the Duke was bedridden, and how the Henick household will fall apart without a successor.

However, since the Duke had regained his senses, Logan had started to quickly push the subject of marriage just to prove to everybody that the Duke of this household is alive and well.

Logan vowed to do so.

In order for that to happen, Anais has to overcome the current difficult situation.

Logan grabbed Oliver and headed for Todd’s bedroom.

“Hey, quack. You’re the one who started this mess with your questions, so you’re responsible for fixing it.”

“I just wanted to check if anything else happened to him!”

Oliver shouted as if he was falsely accused, but no one listened to the Duke’s incompetent doctor.
