I'll Tell You Every Day

Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Xiulan's tears continuously fell.

"Here. This is his letter for you."

Liu Jin handed her the envelope.

Xiulan hesitated but took it with shaking hands. She then began to read it silently.

'Xiulan I'm sorry for not being there for you when you were hurting the most. I'm sorry for foolishly thinking that everything was okay.

People have told me again and again that I should have left you that you didn't really love me and that you were only using me. But that's because they don't know you.

They don't know how beautifully you smile whenever I tell you 'I love you.' They haven't seen how your eyes sparkle when we talk about our future together.

Xiulan I want to try again. Please, let's do it all over again.

I know that your heart is still hurting. And I know that letting go of your past and of your hatred won't be easy. But I will work hard and love your hurt away. Please Choose me. In your new life, please choose me. I will wait for you, and I will love you even much more than I did before.

Let's live a life of only us. We'll have that house you always wanted by the sea. We'll have kids and we'll raise them together. I'll help you forget your pain. I'll do better this time.

So please, choose me.'

Xiulan broke down and sobbed loudly. She clutched the letter close to her chest, basking in the warmth of Ye Shun's words.

"That idiot He's He's such an idiot" She cried.

" He's outside right now. Do you want to see him?"

Xiulan's eyes widened.

"No!" She quickly replied.

"Please no not now I I'm not ready" She panicked.

"I I'm so ugly so ugly" She sobbed.

Today, she had been slapped by her own vulnerability. Forced to face the sins of her past, she had been forced to recognize to the monstrosity hiding beneath her skin.

for visiting.

Liu Jin looked down before approaching her and wiping her tears away with his handkerchief.

Her eyes widened in surprise.

"People can change even you. With time, your wounds would heal And by the time you're ready, you can face him again. By then you will realize that all this time, you have always been the most beautiful woman in his eyes." He smiled.

Xiulan broke down and sobbed onto his chest. Liu Jin gently patted her back in silence.

He still hated her. But he couldn't continue lying to himself anymore.

He had seen for himself how his father had changed. All they needed was the right push and a chance to change. Now, it was up to her whether or not she would take the chance the world has given her.

He still couldn't forgive her. At least, not now.

After she had calmed down, Liu Jin gently let go of her.

"I'll go now. I've relayed his message. My work is done."

Xiulan wiped a tear away and nodded.

She watched as Liu Jin turned his back and began walking towards the door.

"Hey"

He turned to face her.

"Who are you, really?"

He paused before answering.

"Daiyu's husband."

Xiulan's eyes widened.

" Does does she "

"No. She doesn't remember."

Xiulan paused, taking his words in.

"In this lifetime, you haven't hurt her either."

She clenched her fists and looked down.

" Thank you."

Liu Jin smiled and nodded. He took one last look at her before exiting her room and gently closing the door behind him. That was the last he'd see of her. At least, not until many more years to come.

---

"Shun. Sorry bout that. It seems that she's not ready to see you yet."

"Oh That's okay. I can wait." He smiled.

Liu Jin had told him about the letter he wrote. And he had seen for himself that Liu Jin was not lying. He had been curious about this girl who his past self had promised unconditional love for. He wanted to see her but it seems that the time was not yet right.

That's alright.

Life was just starting out this time.

Whatever the future holds, he'd take it one step at a time.

After a few days of silent contemplation, Xiulan gave Butler Tang a call and told him that she was going to choose the second option. Butler Tang relayed the news to Wang Jing and they began to work.

As planned, the police went to inform Qiaoling that 'Xia Xiulan' had died. They brought with them her ashes and the clothes she wore from the night she ran away.

Of course, Qiaoling didn't want to believe it. She had been clutching onto that child as her trump card. As long as she had Xiulan, she could eventually worm her way back into the Wang household. How could she have died so easily?! But with the child's death certificate right before her eyes, she had no choice but accept the truth that she was given.

After the first step was completed, Butler Tang started preparing a new identity for Xiulan. He found foster parents for her in America and a new name for her to use. They were distant relatives of the Wangs who were unfortunately barren. The moment they found out about Xiulan's circumstances, they immediately agreed to welcome her into their family.

When Liu Jin told Butler Tang that Xiulan was not Wang Fengge's daughter, they conducted a grandparent DNA test between Wang Jing and the child. The result was that she was, in fact, not related to the old man. A sense of relief washed over Wang Jing and he felt like he was finally free. Still, he did not go back on his word. He wanted Xiulan to find peace. He too wanted her to be free.

While all this was going on, life inside the Wang Mansion continued. Daiyu continued to spend the rest of her summer vacation with Liu Jin and Zhihao. They went back to the beach as planned and Daiyu had fun swimming. Of course, she had tanned again but she didn't mind. Zhihao had taught her new lines to use against Zhenzhen and she felt ready and armed to face her anytime.

Xiulan as well continued recuperating at the hospital. While her emotional wounds would take time to disappear, she didn't mind. The world had given her time to think, to heal, and to grow.

After a few more weeks of peace, it was finally the day of Xiulan's departure. Butler Tang had escorted her to the airport and she clutched her new passport tightly. She wanted her grandfather to send her off but she could understand why he wasn't here

She looked down and let out a sigh.

"Yi Jie."

Xiulan's eyes widened upon hearing the familiar voice. She looked up and saw Wang Jing. Beside him was a chubby little girl holding his hand.

"Ah! It's the pretty jiejie!" Daiyu called.

"Mmm?" Wang Jing looked down and asked her.

"Daiyu saw! Daiyu saw this pretty jiejie at the hospital." She told him.

"Oh? Well then that makes it easier."

Wang Jing then led her towards Xiulan and bent down in front of her.

"Daiyu, this is Yi Jie, she's two years older than you."

Daiyu stared at Xiulan's face before nodding.

"Hello! Pretty jiejie!" She called.

Xiulan look down, gripping her dress.

"H-Hello." She replied.

Daiyu smiled and fished out a little trinket from her pocket. Her grandfather had told her earlier that they were sending off a friend. She would be going far away and wouldn't be able to return for some time.

Daiyu had prepared a gift to give her. She sewed together a small bunny stuffed toy and had Butler Tang attach a keychain ring onto it. This was actually part of a set. She had given the puppy one to Liu Jin and the bear one to Zhihao. The bunny one was actually supposed to be hers.

"Here! Daiyu made it!" She beamed as she handed it to Xiulan.

Xiulan took it with shaking hands and nodded.

"Buhbye pretty jiejie!" She smiled.

Wang Jing turned to face Xiulan and gently patted her head.

"Yi Jie do you understand why I gave you this name?"

Xiulan nodded. Her new name was her grandfather's way of wishing her happiness in her new life.

"Thank you" She sniffed, trying to hold back her tears.

"Mmm. I'll come visit you once you've settled down."

Xiulan's eyes widened and Wang Jing smiled.

"Daiyu too! Daiyu will come visit you!" She held onto her hand tightly and smiled.

Xiulan couldn't stop her tears. She cried buried her head onto Wang Jing's chest. Wang Jing gently rubbed her back and Daiyu patted her head.

"Be strong. Be brave. You're free now."

'I'm free now' Upon that realization Xiulan continued crying onto Wang Jing's chest.

'I'm free I'm free'

---

Soon, it was time for Xiulan to board the plane. She looked back, staring at her grandfather's face before looking towards Daiyu. Daiyu waved at her energetically. Xiulan smiled and waved back.

"You too. You're free now Daiyu."

She took a deep breath and turned her back. She entered the boarding gates, clutching Daiyu's bunny keychain tightly.

From now on, she was leaving everything behind.

Starting today, she was no longer 'Xia Xiulan.'
