Chapter 19

The True Purpose of the King

After seeing the S-class knights from other countries become really silent, I turned around to look at Rohee-san and the others.

"Did you see that everyone?"

""I saw it!""

Rohee and Katia both screamed in joy, then they suddenly pinched both of my cheeks.

"It hurts. Why did you two did that?"

"You could have phrased it more differently!"

"That's right, as I'm still really pissed off at them."

"I'm so sorry, please forgive me!"

As I was desperately apologizing to them, the king who is sitting on his throne, cleared his throat as he coughed a little.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your moment but you guys should go hunting right now."

We all said "What?" to the king's sudden request for us to go hunting.

When I looked at the king, Katia and Rohee let go of my cheeks.

I wonder why is the king ordering us to hunt?

"Before they went back to their own country. I want you guys to show them what you're capable of."

"By "they" do you mean the S-class Knights from other countries that were here before?"

When Katia asked that, the king nodded to her.

"Yeah, as it is right now this is really bad."

This situation is really bad?

Why would it will be bad?

Is it because their average time to hunt an A-class dragon is 8 minutes?

"Yeah it will be really bad if this continues."

Flambert-sensei who had been silent for a while now, agreed to what the king had said.

"In the Kingdom of Elgandi an A-class knight average subjugation time against an A-class dragon is 8 minutes."

Flambert-sensei's words were exactly what I had expected, but at the same time I realized the seriousness of the situation.

The S-class knights of other countries is the same level as the A-class knights in the Kingdom of Elgandi.

If that's the case, then how low is the level of A-class knights in other countries? What about their B-class knights?

Can they really withstand an attack from an S-class dragon?

"That's right, that's why we need to change their mindset, so they won't be satisfied with an average of an 8 minutes in subjugating an A-class dragon."

I see, so that's why we need to hunt together with them so that we can show them our true abilities.

Would their mindset really change after they saw how we hunt? I hope that they did.

"Yes, my King! We're going to sortie right now!"

"I'm counting on you. I have already instructed the A-class knights to find the locations of the dragons. I want you to go to separate places so that you can destroy those dragons individually. Just ask the receptionist for the exact location of the dragons."

It looks like the king is really prepared for this.

Maybe this is what he was after from the very beginning.

As it was none other than the king who informed me about the average subjugation time of other countries.

Also, since 10 years ago, when the S-class dragon attacked our kingdom, the king had put a lot of effort into strengthening the knights of our kingdom so it is possible that he was already aware about the situation in other countries.

That's why he called the S-class knights of other countries in our kingdom so that we can meet them face to face and for them to be aware that their strength is really lacking.

This is all speculations on my part, but I feel that I'm right.

As our king is a person with a wide perspective on a lot of things.

"Understood! Ok, everyone let's go!"

"""Roger that!"""

We left the Audience Room in response to a command to our unit.

...

The captain of the S-class knights of the Arklum kingdom was leading his men to the gate of the Kingdom of Elgandi.

All of his subordinates seemed to be shocked by the previous incident, and no one dared to speak.

It's natural that they are like that because they have just been told that the S-class knights of the Kingdom of Elgandi can hunt an A-class dragon in a minute and their captain can do it in only 20 seconds.

Questions like "Are they really that powerful?" are now lingering in their minds.

If possible, I also want to confirm it with my own eyes.

With that in mind, we are now heading east towards our home country. And while we were marching I saw a dragon engaged in battle with knights from the Kingdom of Elgandi.

From the looks of it, they are apparently A-class knights, but their movements are pretty good.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think their movements are the same as ours when we are hunting.

"Captain, that's..."

"Yeah I saw it. They are probably the knights of the Kingdom of Elgandi."

"Their movements are really good. If their S-class knights are at that level, then surely their A-class knights level will be pretty high also."

"Ah, this is really frustrating but what they've said might be true."

I am really frustrated, no, more like I'm really embarrassed.

To think that their S-class knights that were composed of only women and a child would be so strong.

"Ah! Captain look at that!"

His subordinate pointed a finger in the distance.

When he looked at where his subordinate was pointing at, he saw a female knight advancing at tremendous speed.

It's a beige blonde female knight that uses a bow.

"That's..."

I'm sure she's one of the S-class knights of the Kingdom of Elgandi that I saw earlier in the audience room.

Why is she here?

The Archer, runs straight ahead and it looks like she will help the A-class knights who are engaged with the dragon.

What tremendous speed.

That speed, is she really a woman?

When the Archer reached the dragon, the A-class knights who had been deployed began to withdraw immediately.

Why are they retreating?

Aren't they going to fight it together?

Don't tell me that woman intends to fight that dragon alone!

As what the captain of the S-class knights of Arklum had expected, the Archer deployed her bow and launched an attack on the dragon.
