“Flares!”

After several unlucky eggs were accurately killed in the dark, no matter how stupid people knew that Uncle Black must have a way to observe their movements, the Portuguese army did not think that the other party would have night vision devices, they guessed that the other party may have the help of moonlight, in order to find out the location of the other party, a soldier immediately shot a flare.

Immediately the whole grassland was shrouded in light, and a Portuguese non-commissioned officer raised his head to find his target, only to see a flash of fire on the mound a hundred meters away from him, and then he fell to the ground with his head crooked. Fortunately, the

Portuguese soldiers had already found their target, and machine guns and rifles immediately began to greet each other, and dozens of people fired thousands of rounds of ammunition at the mound before they were stopped by the officers who arrived.

Then the Portuguese began to shoot flares into the sky, and when the flares were raised, they would advance for a distance, and when they reached the mound, they only saw a fal automatic rifle with an optical scope dropped on the ground, but the gunman was nowhere to be seen, not even blood on the ground.

The enraged Portuguese soldiers immediately began to chase into the distance, but they ran for several kilometers without seeing any figures, and finally returned with a stomach full of resentment. The

guerrillas’ raids not only reimbursed them for four mortars, but also added seven killed and twenty-one wounded to the casualty list, and even six unfortunate artillerymen who were so badly blown up by grenades that they had to be taken to the hospital immediately.

After being attacked by the guerrillas, the paratrooper company commander also guessed that there should be guerrilla tunnels in the field, but he could not search such a large area, and his men were already stretched thin just to control the current area of the village. And the infantry

also lacked manpower, they had to hold the interception in three directions, but also to guard the artillery, and had to support the paratroopers, more tasks, had no choice, the infantry battalion commander and the paratrooper company commander after discussion, decided to abandon the underground area they controlled and withdraw all the people.

And before the evacuation, the paratroopers did not forget to destroy the tunnels so as not to be reused by the partisans.

Then everyone languished in the dark until the next morning.

At about ten o’clock in the morning, an additional infantry company arrived with a howitzer company, and with the addition of fresh troops, the Portuguese army immediately regained its strength and began to clean up the remaining CD area. Compared to the

two areas that had been flattened before, the remaining CD area was in worse condition, because it had been separated from the forest, so the houses here were more close, yard next to yard, houses crowded houses, passages were crowded, and some paths could only be passed by one person.

The guerrillas also defended this dense area more closely, in addition to all kinds of booby traps, and even the guerrillas set up some traps.

A newly reinforced infantry squad thought they were safe after destroying the gate of a two-story building by blasting means, but when a soldier opened the wooden cabinet of his fellow villagers, there was a gunshot in the cabinet, and the soldier was directly hit in the chest by a submachine gun at close range.

In addition to the cabinets, the guerrillas even pulled tripping ropes on the earthen staircase, and a soldier touched the rope when he went upstairs, and then the bomb placed in the wall even blew up one wall directly, and then crushed the soldiers in the house underneath.

In addition to these organs, the guerrillas also used the difference in height to repeatedly shoot black guns at the Portuguese army, although with reinforcements, the Portuguese attack was not much faster than the first day, but the guerrillas who fought black guns also faced greater danger, the Portuguese army directly began to call howitzers to fire at the village after encountering cold guns, 105mm howitzers are naturally not comparable to mortars, earthen houses only need one round of ammunition to be blown up.

In less than three hours of fierce fighting, half of the remaining houses in the village collapsed, and Zabi also lost four of his men, and by now he had fewer than twenty veterans around him.

Even so, Zabi led his men to move through the tunnels, constantly shifting their attention, jumping out of the Portuguese army, and appearing behind them to attack.

A Portuguese infantry platoon that went into battle had thirteen more wounded in the morning, and although the wounds on their bodies were not life-threatening, they had to be withdrawn from the battlefield, and the platoon even had to merge two squads with large losses to continue the battle. Although the battle was difficult, the

Portuguese army still gritted their teeth, because they had seen the dawn of victory, the intact area of the entire village was only the last fifth, and the guerrillas were compressed by them to this last fifth of the area, and even they found more than fifty tunnel crossings on the new day, and this time they had enough explosives to blow them up. So at about three o’clock in the afternoon, the Portuguese commander ordered

a ceasefire and then let the soldiers rest for half an hour, and he was to level the last area by six o’clock in the evening, for which he concentrated most of the personnel in the village on the line of attack, but what the commander did not know was that when he ordered to rest, Shepard also gave the order to retreat.

Although a considerable part of the tunnels in the village were destroyed, none outside the village, so the remaining guerrillas and mercenaries took advantage of the half an hour that the Portuguese rested, all withdrew to the tunnels outside the village, and turned there, and finally came to the forest where the paratroopers attacked.

The Portuguese army did not set up a guard post in the forest at all, and the only few sentries in this direction were in the village, so no one knew that the black uncles had run here.

Zabi and his men then discarded almost all of their equipment, keeping only radio and night-vision devices, and headed straight into the forest, heading four kilometers away toward the river, where they had stored their canoes for running.

The Portuguese army did not know it, and even the artillery bombed for half an hour before the attack, plus the search lasted for a long time, so when the Portuguese commander entered Zabi’s underground headquarters, Zabi and his men had already boarded canoes and were going down the river to prepare to withdraw to the border line.

And the Portuguese army was still searching the tunnels in the village like a big enemy, until nightfall, they searched almost every corner of the village, and then found that the guerrillas who fought with them during the day had escaped through the tunnels!

The infantry battalion commander, unable to accept this fact, slammed his angry punch against the wall, while the paratrooper company commander who entered the room with him returned to the surface with a mocking face.

“Win?”
