"Test #500 complete" The distorted voice of '3' came through my numbed ears

He had just finished injecting yet another syringe of purple liquid into me and it put me through another wave of excruciating pain

"Melding is at 99% completion. Marks are growing at an exponential pace. Subject 'Jack' is sitting at a 89% chance of getting through Project Psi, becoming the first to do so" '3' continued

I would have been probably had a heart attack from surprise if I wasn't in such pain

The tests had been going on for what seemed like years now, likely only 500 days due to the test number though

My whole body felt like it was going to melt at any time and if I could look down at my body, I'm pretty sure I would have looked like an actual skeleton

Actual meals were a luxury in this place...

"Injecting final E-Substance syringe at 0700 Hours, thus completing the melding experiments. Training and Washing will begin roughly 72 hours afterwards"

'3' set his ECHORecorder down on the metal table next to me and injected me with the murky purple substance

I didn't scream anymore. 500 days of the stuff will numb you faster than a trip to the dentist

"Subject seems to be numbed to the pain of E-Substance. Presumably linked to the tattoos being formed across the subject's arm. Will look into thi-"

*BOOOOOM!!!*

The ground and walls shook as a giant explosion rocked the compound, turning on the alarms and sending the room into a crimson light

'3' put his hand up to his ear, turning on his radio

"What the hell is happening?!"

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN ATLAS SOLDIERS ARE HERE?!?"

"YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO LEAVE THE SUBJECT HERE?! AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS?!? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY WE'VE PUT INTO THIS?!???!?"

I could hear the radio being crushed in his hands as he walked out of the room, not looking back. I saw the door lock behind him, leaving me with my thoughts and the faint sound of the alarm outside of the room

It seemed like hours, I was left in there, until a white static image appeared at the top of my vision

"I need you to stay calm. I'm going to help you get out of here, but you need to listen to my directions if you want to leave without injury" said a woman from the static

'Angel, eh? Wondered when she'd show up...'

"What do I need to do?" I asked hoarsely, wincing slightly at the scratchy voice

"Send your focus to the tattoos on your arms. They should be able to do the work from there"

I nodded and did what she asked

Suddenly, a wave of green colored dust appeared from the tattoos and started flying towards the restraints. If you looked closely, you could see the restraints being eroded away quickly

It wasn't 5 minutes later that I had my arms and legs free, letting me sit up and stretch a little

"Jeez. Least they could have done is let me walk around the cell some..." I said, feeling the soreness in my joints

Standing up, I limped towards the door, and looked out the barred window before ducking as I saw a group of soldiers run past the cell

"Atlas forces are still coming in strong, so going through the compound halls like that would be suicide. I need you to send your power through the wall across from the door at a 45 degree angle upwards. That should lead you to a clearing about 3 miles from the compound. Hurry" Angel said to me and I obeyed

It took almost three hours to eat away at the rocks and I had to cave in a few passageways behind me just in case Atlas found me, but I finally made it outside to what looked like a barnyard

I looked around. To my left, a valley that lead to what looked like a ramp, to my right...

"You! One more step and It'll be your last!" An old man said with a raised double barrel shotgun, sitting in a large rocking chair

I sighed, a small twitch reaching my lips

'T.K Baha... Let's do this'
