In Harry Potter as Neville Longbottom

Chapter 76: Second rune with Professor Ravenclaw

The sun left the sky and the beautiful moon rose to fill the dark night. The stars were abnormally bright today and in the dark forest, the group of centaurs were dancing with joy on the auspicious occasion.

The stars clearly showed that there was a new saviour that was born today, and it was exactly like the day when Harry Potter was born. No, it was even more auspicious and wonderful.

Professor Trelawney who was drinking her tea in her private room went into a trance and murmured a prophecy –

'The darkest nights are coming to end,

and the fear is taking its final breath.

He who shall rise on the occasion.

will punish the one who escaped the death.

His army will come from the sky and the sea,

the ones unheard will soon find their voice.

The ones rampant on the shaky soil

Will lost their ground and meet the demise.'

"BLAAAH!" Madam Trelawney woke up from her trance and put down the strange tea. It must be because the leave has gone bad otherwise how could she fall into a daydream.

Inside the Hogwarts, only a few noticed this natural change. Apart from Professor Trelawney, Professor Sprout and Headmaster Dumbledore felt something but it was too illusory to pinpoint the specific.

Professor Sprout noticed the flowers blooming in the moon plants and knew that it was a good omen, and she hummed a good tune before going back to her work.

Headmaster Dumbledore simply spread his magical detection to the whole castle but failed to find any specific change. He thought it must be some event that happened somewhere that gave him this strange feeling.

At this old age, Dumbledore is very very cautious about these feelings. Many might ignore them, but he knew from his past experience, that this is a trace of magic. Natural magic. He simply teleported with his Phoenix Fawkes to reach near the ministry of magic.

He knew there must be others like him who noticed these weird phenomena and he was not disappointed. One after another, almost seven old wizards appeared, and they silently made their way to the Wizengamot office.

Ignorant of the great magical change that is happening outside, Neville finally felt tired after working for long hours. He instinctively took off the diadem and the minute he did, a wave of tiredness and dizziness took over him.

He had to balance himself carefully before he could walk again.

"How long was I in that state Professor?" Neville asked Professor Ravenclaw who was still watching over him.

"The whole day Nev. The whole day. It's almost midnight now." Professor replied with a bright smile and then after a short discussion, Neville snaked over to the Hogwarts kitchen to get some food.

He missed some classes, but he gained vastly more than he ever could from a few classes. Packing enough food for the night, he hurriedly went back to ROR.

Neville spent the whole night sketching and etching down the second rune he had in his mind on his Grimoire and then carefully studied whatever he wrote under the influence of the diadem.

In this way, Neville finally etched down a very complex rune that should have taken him months in a single night.

The rune of the shield.

It was basically composed of all known shield charms, superimposed one after another on top creating the most powerful mental and physical barrier that can prevent all kinds of attacks from all possible directions.

This shield was near indestructible in nature until Neville had to face a powerful adult wizard.

Using the first supplementary rune, the power of this rune will be enhanced and using the magical power from nature will reduce the consumption of Neville's own magical reserve.

Neville knew he might have to face more dangerous opponents in future and only after he can protect himself, he can target his enemies.

One lady who is known to sell candies in Hogwarts express, the Trolley Witch suddenly woke up from her sleep. She carefully looked around her but found her cabin was safe and sound. Nothing was out of place, and no one came. But something happened.

Something she failed to notice, and it must be related to Hogwarts students.

She jumped down from her bed that was tied to the roof and landed on the floor that was almost 15ft. beneath her but surprisingly her hunched body landed perfectly on her two thin legs.

She calmly walked to a mirror that was covered with a dirty cloth and threw down the covers.

Using an old magical spell, she activated the runes on the mirror and soon another old face was visible on the other side.

"Hello. It's been a long time. Hasn't it Madam Sylphia?" The face of the oldest alive Wizard Barry Wrinkle was visible on the mirror and the Trolley witch, Madam Sylphia just laughed a little.

"I have not heard my name in more than 100 years Professor Barry. You must have noticed it, right?" The trolley witch asked Barry Wrinkle and as she predicted Professor Barry Wrinkle let out a pleasant laugh.

"Yes, I did, indeed. It was a pleasant surprise. I was just drinking my hot cocoa and boom! The threads of fates were broken at once, but the moonstones were brighter. Whatever has happened inside Hogwarts is a good sign. A positive sign. I think you must have noticed unusual kids this year." The old Barry wrinkle gave her the answer she was looking for and the trolley witch put her heart down her throat.

"Doesn't matter. Since it's for good, let it be. We can only guide the waters and not disturb the flow. I am going back to sleep. Making new Pumpkin Pasties is not easy at this stage. Good bye professor." Before Professor Barry could even reply, the trolley witch covered the mirror back and then calmly walked beneath her bed.

Then she calmly walked on air and got back inside her bed. Her cottage fell silent again.

"BOOOOM!"

A large rune that was inscribed on the ground with blood suddenly exploded at an undisclosed location and multiple humanoid figures surrounded it was thrown back with a large force.

Few of them hit their head on rocky ground and lost their lives instantly while a few lucky ones managed to protect themselves at the last minute and only got scratches or broken bones.

"Who was it? Who betrayed us?" A loud roar could be heard inside the closed space, but no one answered.

A broken old mask that Neville collected in his trip from Knockturn Alley and kept in his room under protection, had some runes that glowed for a second before they turned back normal.

This would have been insignificant but the group of people in the closed space had similar masks on their faces.

Neville had no idea that he unknowingly jumped into a greater conspiracy and also attacked a more sinister group of wizards than the death eaters.
