Chapter 1.2

She was not such a beloved daughter in the beginning. In fact she led a rather abandoned existence till she was 10 years old. Until then, she lived the life of a non-existent person in the duchy.

On the outskirts of the Imperial capital, a girl named Audria lived in the most steep and remote place. She was the daughter of the Duke of Trudy, who was said to be the best family in the empire.

In her previous life, she was an ordinary citizen who was called Audria as well

From the moment she lost her parents at a young age, Audria became the head of her poor family in the society. From the time of her birth, she was neither an aristocrat nor did she live in abundance, but the moment she lost her parents her satisfactory, rustic daily life collapsed overnight. In addition she had a younger brother and a younger sister.

Her younger brother Noel was very clever and wanted to study. And her younger sister Amy, who had to do everything that others did even though she was very sickly.

The people who they knew pointed out that Amy and Noel were too greedy and made things very difficult for Audria. But for Audria, her siblings were her only family and happiness that could be relied on, in the world. There was no job that Audria wouldn’t do to feed her siblings and to satisfy their needs.

Starting from work as a maid, as a waitress and even cleaning the bathroom. It didn’t matter what kind of job it was as long as she could get enough money to buy food every day.

However despite working like a slave, she was always short of money. Noel and Amy asked for a great many things, saying that it was necessary to invest more for the future, rather than in the now. She had tried appeasing her siblings saying that she wasn’t in a position to do that now, but as usual she was made to keep quiet, was ignored and eventually they got what they wanted like always.

As time went by, due to excessive spending it became impossible to buy enough food every day. This in turn led to her trying to earn as much as she could; while buying food at the cheapest price that she could find.

Even then, in order for her siblings to have enough to eat, there had been times where Audria had not been able to eat properly for a week. Nevertheless, she did her best to support them in their education and bought her younger siblings clothes whenever they needed it.  Meanwhile Audria didn’t mind wearing her worn clothes till they could only be used as dishrags.

As long as Amy and Noel were happy that was her joy.

Finally, it was proved that her efforts and faith were not in vain. Thanks to her prayers and dedication, her siblings had much better lives than herself. Her younger brother Noel was brilliant enough to make his ambition of working at the Imperial Palace a reality, by studying well with Audria’s support. Though it was a lower position compared to the other nobles, it would’ve been impossible for him to make it that far without her sacrifice.

Her sister Amy on the other hand made an outstanding marriage to a businessman, Viscount Owen. He was a self-made man with no family estate as he was newly ennobled, but he was still a noble as Amy had wanted. In addition to being a Viscount, he was young, handsome and capable. Although he was a little low in status; many young ladies wanted to marry him rather than an old or ugly earl or marquis. But he fell in love with Amy and proposed to her. Her Wedding was the event of the season and all the seats in the venue were full.

When Audria recalled this happy event, she had a smile on her face.

“It’s finally over.” she said out loud to the skies, on her way home after Amy’s wedding. It had been 10 years since her parents had died and she had raised both her younger sibling well. It was only now that she felt that she had at last woken up. Though her siblings were lovely, now that they had their own lives, she can at last live for herself.

Her one regret was that she had never lived for herself so far. But now all her responsibilities were done. Noel will work hard in the Imperial Palace and climb up the ladder to achieve his goal, while Amy can happily live her days out with Viscount Owen.

Now that both of them were not dependent on her anymore, Audria immediately put her thoughts into action. She started a small business with the small amount of money that she had left.

Actually, it had been something she had thought about for a long time, so she had no hesitation in starting. She had done various jobs to raise her siblings, but she did not earn enough by doing menial work. Among all the jobs that she had done, the job that she did the longest was as a ladies maid.

At first, she was just a maid that did a menial job in the mansion, but later a gentlewoman who noticed her talent, asked her to attend to her.
