Jack Schnee [RWBY]

Chapter 42 - An Intense Situation

[Jack POV]

I heard Eve's scream Kim's name and I instantly dashed toward where I heard the scream. I can't let Kim die. There's so much that I want to do with her and experience with her. No matter what, I won't allow her to die. I don't care what I have to do. Some bandits tried to block my way but I changed the dial on Light to the green dust and slashed a barrage of winds in their direction. They were blown away while I rushed over to a small group of bandits surrounding Eve and Kim. I slash some more wind blasts and quickly dispatched the bandits surrounding them. I summon some more Grimm to take care of the remaining bandits since I had to take care of Kim.

Jack: Hang on, I'll heal you. Eve, buy me some time.

I hurriedly start pouring my aura into hers so that she can heal from her wound. I'm absorbing aura from the surrounding area like crazy since it was such a serious wound. The wound was closing gradually but Kim didn't move.

Jake: Please don't die, please. I don't want to lose you.

I poured more and more of my aura into her in the hopes that she would wake up. I tried feeling for a pulse, a heartbeat, or anything that would tell me that she's alive but I didn't feel anything. A wave of despair washed over me as I turned to look over to a red haired woman who was just toying with Eve. If the aura I'm pouring in doesn't work then how about some of the Fall Maiden power. I poured all the power I currently had into Kim and then I could feel a heartbeat once again. Relieved that she was going to be okay, I carry her to safety and quickly return to the battlefield. Knowing that I just lost Kim, I was overflowing with rage toward this woman. I glanced around and saw that all the bandits have been defeated and the woman was the only one left. She looked at menacing grin as she twirled her finger. It was then that Eve stabbed me with a knife made up of blood. So this is why Kim was injured so badly. She was able to control Eve and stab Kim from behind. Controlling people against their will is very annoying and hard to defend against. I wonder how many people have been manipulated by this woman already. I quickly heal the wound Eve gave me and dash towards her.

The red haired woman stopped me dead in my tracks as I could feel my body lock up. I send a message to Bagels to charge over at her since she can't manipulate the blood of a creature that doesn't have any. I use my devouring power to devour the hold she has over me and continue dashing toward her. She looks shocked that I was able to break free from her control and quickly started gathering blood from all the bandits in the vicinity to defend against Bagels relentless attacks. Eve shot another arrow that was aimed directly at me. I grabbed it out of the air and snapped it in two. Eve's arrows will have no effect on me anymore. Bagels leaps into the air and tries to body slam the woman but she gathers all of the blood to stab straight through Bagels. Bagels disappears into thin air, buying me enough time to reach the woman.

She desperately tries to control my body once again but I shake her off her control easily. I pierce through her arm with Light and slam her body into the ground. Light, still in her arm, is plunged into the ground rendering her immobile. She screams in pain and it only grows as I step on her other arm to pin her even further. She struggling to move and thrashing about on the ground but I've stop caring how she felt the moment I heard Kim's scream. I place a hand on her c.h.e.s.t as I reached down into the depth of her body to grab something. I've never done it before but I know deep down that I could do this and it was within my means to do so. After a bit, I grabbed what I was looking for and pulled it into my body. I smile knowing what I just did as the woman lost consciousness. I don't know whether it was from the pain, blood loss, or what I did to her but she was now powerless on the ground.

I tied her and the rest of the bandits up and alerted the authorities to come over to arrest them. It wasn't long afterwards when Olga showed up covered in wounds and blood. He told us that his opponent was really hard to beat and that he was barely able to win. Well, it was obvious now that the person Olga sensed before was obviously bait but what's suspicious is that Olga didn't smell anyone else around but him. Olga said that he needs to train more and laughed it off but I could tell that something was really bothering him. I wasn't really worried too much about Olga since I was still worried about Kim and if she would wake up or not. The merchants expressed their gratitude for our assistance and complimented me on my strength. Professor Freeze on the other hand said absolutely nothing at all and if I didn't look at her from time to time, I would forget she's even there.

The rest of the journey was easy and straightforward. It didn't take too long to reach our destination and there weren't any more attacks on the bandits. Eventually, Kim managed to wake up and explain how she felt better than ever not knowing that I poured the magical essence of a Fall Maiden into her. I should tell her but telling her means that she'll find out that I am Calamity. What would I even do if she turned on me? I could lie and stretch the truth but she may find out what really happened some other way. For now, I just keep my cards close to the c.h.e.s.t and see where they lead. I turned to see the group of merchants off as they disappeared into the bustling town around them. Instead of spending another night in the wilderness, I proposed we sleep in town for the night and everyone agreed.

[Olga POV]

I walk up to a window and open up to see a dark sky that is being faintly illuminated by the moonlight. I stare at the moon thinking that it feels like I am alone in the world sometimes. Never truly belonging anywhere. Everywhere I go I have to cheat, lie, or steal to get by. My home, Beacon, and my team are no exception to that rule. Even the persona that I made up for myself was made to act like someone that was annoying so that people would avoid me. I mean it would be easier to gather information if no cared much about who you are or what your doing. I'm already used to be looked at in disgust by other people because of my family. I just can't help but feeling that maybe they'll accept me for who I truly am. However, I reach into my pocket to find a purple gem that seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. Maybe I'm just complete sc.u.m just like my old man.
