Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening

Chapter 428 - Hell We Notice

If there was one thing I could say about Teluna, it was the fact that he worked fast, and it didn't take more than 15 minutes Teluna to canvass the entire cavern of perhaps it really wasn't a cavern, just the bottom of a volcano. Now call it paranoia, but I really hope this volcano was not active. Either way Teluna got back to us, and judging by the shit eating grin on his face he probably found something that he would consider pretty interesting, or at least in similar fashion. And considering we were following Gus's breadcrumbs, he would be happy, they were like twins in a sense, two sides of the same coin but still the same shade of the color spectrum.

"That Mute bastard is really smart!" Kodak raised an eyebrow at Teluna's chicken of words, but then again none of us could say much about the way those two addressed themselves, after all they were best friends, close enough that they came second for the best friends of the year award this year, me and Joshua beat them by a slight margin, but then again Joshua and I were only this close because we, along with David were the only Otakus amongst the dragon kings. We knew the weird shit that the world we used to be a part of considered irrelevant. And it was only made much worse when you consider the fact that David was a political science student, Joshua a soldier and me the son of a pastor… no combination of friendship gets any weirder than that, and all our kids were friends.

"His barrier is so strong it spreads into the walls of the volcano itself. There are a series of tunnels on both sides of it that seems to snake their ways outside. Many of the demons have found their way into it and are attacking the barrier just as they are attacking the one above our heads, however all of it is fool proof, and the most crazy part of it all is that they barriers are siphoning energy from all attacks to strengthen themselves exponentially! It's crazy! And the shields themselves seem to have some sort of bio recognition, demons can't get through, but we can, the fuċker really knew we were coming after him. "

I rolled my eyes at Teluna's enthusiasm, not that it was that big a deal what Gus did, after all I created a shield that covered an entire city that was home to millions. And mine was just as sophisticated if not more so, but regardless I had no time to be petty, we needed to move forwards and onwards or something like that. I got up to my feet and gave the demons above us a cursory glance, finally choosing to look at them well enough to notice that just about half of them were a part of the collective, the other half were normal and conscious and were actively trying to guide the others into finding methods to smash through the shield. Well say what you want about demons, but from the look of things they're really persistent buggers.

"So there are tunnels east and west of here, each no different than the last. Joshua, Teluna's not really able to go far in those tunnels due to the shield themselves. Can you find us a viable route, I'd rather we avoid dead ends and unnecessary conflict, instant the quickest way to surface, I have no idea if we're working on a time limit, but for the sake of Gus, let's just all act like we are. I'll reinforce his shield with one of my own, it should keep the portal safe and intact long enough for us to get out do what we need to and get back here. Kodak keep watch on both of us, and Asare make an inventory of our supplies."

A loud gust of wind spread out from Joshua's body, the wind wailed in it's wake but yet the gust was somewhat gentle, with just enough power to rustle our clothes. Teluna could see, but Joshua would canvass the entire area and probably draw out a blueprint for you in seconds. Of course his technique isn't foolproof; he was able to canvass how an area looks, or if there are people within, but making notices of things that had to do with energy is pretty hard for him. But the technique was still being polished either way, and I know it's only a matter of time before the dragon king of wind figures out a way to fully master and improve his Wind Radar skill. In retrospect I didn't have much of a problem creating another shield at the bottom of the volcano, heck it was even a recreation of the weaves that now stands guard over Ethernalia Leonis and Nasir the world tree. This area was secured now.

"The east path leads to an opening on the side of the Volcano's mountain, from there it's just about 200 meters to the ground, the right path leads to the summit of the Volcano, there seems to be a structure of sorts at the top of it. I didn't get a clear enough picture but I think it's some outpost or fortress. And I believe that should be our aim, if we're looking for Gus and we have no idea where he is, the best thing we can do is announce our arrival by smashing some shit up, besides we might get information about where he is from the fortress and where the rest of those fuċkɨnġ dark gods are, the hunt will begin from there." Joshua wasn't speaking like he was asking, he was saying it and all I could do was shrug my shoulders in agreement.

I was High King, and I was a god, so yeah I am the leader of the dragon kings. But none of us was placed above the other, we were equals in might, respect and reputation. Except of course now people seem to think I'm a butcher, which is something I find ironic because there are no one's more ruthless than David and Ye Jian. Even I am scared of them some times.. Either way Joshua was taking charge now, I would happily follow.
