Keeping the Marquis's Secret

4 How did I get into this situation?

A large dog-like creature stared at me as I stood up. I looked around me. There were no other participants. Doubt filled me. Did they already lose to this beast?

I need to calm down. Despite thinking that my knees wouldn't stop shaking. I was truly terrified. The beast roared as its red eyes stared me down. My body shook from the menacing aura of the creature.

What the hell is up with the Royal Knight exam this year? The amount of bad luck I have must be uncanny. I breathed in and out as I felt myself slowly calm down. I unsheathed my twin swords as I faced the monster. Based on the way it carries itself the beast's weakness must be with its large form. I looked up the dog creature's back almost touched the ceiling. For fuck's sake where were they hiding something like this?

I walked slowly to encircle the beast. My swords shined as they sat at my sides. I brought my arms up. I coughed out blood as I was suddenly thrown on the wall to the side. My body trembled from the impact. I struggled to breathe.

Fuck! A couple of ribs must have broken. I turned and docked quickly as the beast's claw impales the wall in the area where my head was. I held my injured chest as I ran to the center of the room. Forget what I said earlier. This animal's weakness is not its weight. Despite the large weight it moves as fast as a cheetah.

As I touched the wall with my foot the room rotated. Suddenly I was standing on what used to be the ceiling. I cried out as I held my bleeding chest. Fuck, fuck. I am not going to quit now. Not only is there a beast, the room also rotates clockwise when the wall is touched. How troublesome! The beast seemed to be accustomed to this as it adjusted quickly.

I screamed as it lunges towards me. Quickly I kicked the ceiling so that the room would rotate once more. I laid on the floor so that it would be easier to rotate. I watched the beast's eyes cloud over. Oh? It has motion sickness. I chuckled despite the pain.

I have to get the beast dizzy enough so that I could injure it at least. I held my chest as a sharp pain prevented me from taking a deep breath. I inhaled sharply as I kept kicking at the wall next to me. I closed my eyes slightly to avoid getting dizzy. The room started to rotate over and over.

The beast roared and whimpered as the room kept rotating. It's red eyes turning black as it got dizzy. My leg burned as I kept kicking the wall. My mouth filled with the food that I ate yesterday. Shit! I'm about to vomit. My head started spinning as I rotated the room once more.

I started hyperventilating as the beast sat on the floor quiet. I coughed out blood once more before picking myself up. I then picked up my twin swords and walked up to the beast.

A gut feeling told me that it's heart was somewhere to the side of the body. I quickly ran and pierced the beast in the side. It's eyes flashed red as it roared once more. Blood sprouted from its wound covering my whole body. A second later the beast started to whimper.

Guilt filled me as tears ran down my cheeks.

"I'm so sorry beast but this where we have to part ways. I appreciate your sacrifice."

The beast looked at me with a tear falling down. I continued to cry as I struck it once more with my win swords. The beast roared once more before slumping over and closed its eyes.

My knees buckled as the door of the room opened. Altius ran over to me with worry on his face as the room blurred. I smiled before falling to the ground. The world then turned black.
