Killer Crown

42 Chapter 42: The Dreams

I can hear a hint of jealousy in voice as I pick up trash leftover from the party.

"Why? Does it bother you?"

I tie up the garbage bag and walk outside, Ricky follows behind me like a puppy.

"I mean, I just think I should know about your past a little more...for your sake!"

"Oh really? Please explain to me how telling you about him would benefit me."

He pokes my sides,

"Please, just tell me."

"Stop!"

'How the hell does he know i'm ticklish on my sides?!'

"Tell me!"

"Ricky please!"

"Will you tell me?"

"Yes, yes, okay! Now stop!"

He stops ticking me and puts his hand on my back. Instinctively, I arch my it and look him in his face.

'We're engaged to be married, and you still make me feel so nervous...I love it.'

"So, you ready to talk?"

His voice is deep and raspy, god it's so sexy.

"Y-yes."

"Good girl."

"It's a long story...are you sure you wanna hear it while standing like this?"

His lips curl up into a wicked smirk,

"Why? Does it make you..."

He pull me closer, forcing himself in between my legs,

"Want more?"

I can feel my knees go weak as he undresses me with his gaze,

"I guess you're right."

He lets me go and we head back inside.

"I'll clean up later,"

He sits down on the couch and pats his lap,

"Come tell daddy all about it."

I roll my eyes.

'Did this bitch really just call himself daddy?'

I make my way over and prepare myself to tell this story. One I had hoped to never speak of again.

"That man is not who he says he is. That man...made me what I am today. He made me into a weapon..."

He stares at me with a blank expression. His skin has gone pale and his eyes are filled with horror,

"W-what do you mean Kaz? Who was that?"

I let out an exasperated sigh,

"Just listen. Back at the house...she hired him, to train all of us but he had an interest in me. It was after I had got promoted to 'Zero' and made this long ass speech in front of that bitch and all her guest that I was sick and tired of fighting her...that I would no longer refuse her..."

I can't finish my sentence.

"That you'd let her mold you into...you?"

"In a way. We met after I stormed out. He was harsh but it worth it to me. I've always been good with my hands but with the right training I became a monster."

"Kaz, you're not a-"

"But that's not the worst part Ricky..."

He looks puzzled,

"The worst part is that I liked it. I liked knowing that i'd become a beast, a prisoner to her sick ways. I liked the feeling of triumph and the feel of my blade taking a persons life, hell, I might've even loved it!"

"But can't you see it Ricky? Can't you see what's been so obvious this whole time?!"

I start to panic. My minds racing with all the different kinds of horror i've seen in my dreams. The ones I don't talk about.

"Hey, calm down. Tell me exactly what you're thinking."

Ricky holds my hands in a

desperate attempt to sooth me but no luck.

"I need to get out of here,"

I try to get up and walk to the stairs but he yanks my arm,

"Kazmaria, i'm not asking. Tell me what the fuck's making you worry like this."

His tone is accretive and so demanding.

'Huh, i'd be tuned on if I wasn't so jumpy.'

"I uh..."

I can feel my body trembling as I try to find the right words,

"I have dreams...they're like visons. They come to most nights. They let me see things...things no one would wish for."

"What 'things'?"

"Premonitions of death. I've tried to tell others but they said I was crazy and that I needed medication. Or worse, that I was a liar."

"So...you see people die in these dreams?"

I shake my head,

"No. Think about it, why have you never questioned me about who I kill? You tell me a name and that's all I need."

He thinks for a moment,

"Well yeah, you know all about them, then you kill them."

"Wrong."

My knees get weak and my head feels funny.

"I've never once done any kind of research on my targets...I know who they are, what they look like, how they sound, all because of my dreams. The people don't just die in these damn dreams...i'm the one killing them."

The room starts to fade and Ricky's voice disappears.

'You've made a grave mistake you dumb child!'

A booming voice echos though my head.

'What? Where am I? Where's Ricky?!'

'You've doomed yourself and the ones you hold dearest will pay dearly!'

Everything's black and cold. I can't see or hear anything.

'Am I dying? Is this it? Can I finally rest?'

I can feel a pair of strong arms carrying me...Ricky.

I try my hardest to open my eyes and say something,

"R...Ricardo."

He looks down at me with panic sprawled across his face,

"Kaz! Just lay down. I'll call Selena right now."

"No, don't."

I sit up and rub my aching head,

"I'm fine. I just need some rest."

"Fine. But first thing tomorrow morning we're seeing a doctor."

'He's not asking. He's telling me, either way I have no energy to fight him on it.'

He sits on the far side of the couch and just stares at me. His gaze makes me feel small and vulnerable.

"Ya know Kaz, I believe it..."

"..."

'The fuck is his talking about?'

"The visions and everything. I think it's real."

"Why would I lie about something as wicked as that?"

"I'm not saying it's not true,"

He takes a long exaggerated pause,

"I'm saying it's a curse."
