Kingdom Of The Moonlight Rose

Chapter 25 - First Matchup

"Just trust the process Isaac." smiled Headmaster Oak. "Whatever I ask you to do there is a reason for it I promise. Trust me. I'll provide you with a shield "

"errrrr... alright Headmaster. I'll trust you." replied Isaac, a little bit still unsure.

Headmaster Oak wanted to build an aggressiveness within Isaac, sitting on the front line was what he planned for Isaac. He first he needed to acquire a few more entry level spells for Isaac though.

"Eden, Adara, while Isaac trains here, you guys should continue your training plans for the next two days. Your matchups will most likely be someone of the same level. I have complete faith in you both for your ability to thrive here and grow. Remember do not get overconfident, your opponent also has dreams and aspirations as well, they will be trying as hard as you guys to achieve their goals as well."

The next two days went by very fast. With a stroke of good luck the academy was able to acquire an additional elementalist and Adara and Eden began to pick up an additional craft to their skills. Headmaster Oak was extremely happy with the way things have turned out here so far at Crux City, and he was excited for more.

Eden, Adara, Isaac, and Headmaster Oak were standing at the front desk of the Coliseum talking to a female attendant.

"Durreye... Durreye.... Eden...Bronze Rank" the attendant was searching for his matchup. "Ah, your matchup will be Soldan of Summer Academy. Please submit your token to us."

Eden handed over his Coliseum token over to the attendant. The attendant required it so that the Coliseum could record his record and provide rewards. For bronze rank competitors, they would acc.u.mulate a hundred points per win and one percent of spectator ticket sales. With these points each participant can trade them in for real currency or use them to access the Coliseum's special faculties which consisted of meditation rooms, training facilities, and items within the Coliseum's item shops, the points were essentially the controlled currency of the Coliseum.

'Well lets just worry about winning' Eden thought.

"Please proceed to the stage on the next floor. Adara your matchup will be later in the day. It will be against Soldan's twin brother Zoldan of Summer Academy. Please proceed to the floor, you maybe be able to watch the matches as well." instructed the attendant. "May the light of victory shine on you today!"

Eden made his way to the next floor with the rest of his group. They followed an attendant that guided Eden to the entrance to the arena, the rest of the group would have to take the stairs to go up to the spectator boxes.

"Good luck Eden!" shouted Isaac!

"You will be fine Eden! Remember what you were taught." reminded Headmaster Oak.

"You better win!" yelled out Adara with her fist held out towards Eden.

"You can count on me!" shouted back Eden who also held out his fist.

Eden made his way to the lower bowl of the stadium where the arena was. The stadium only had about fifty people inside. It was to be expected. These were two relatively no-name elementalists.

Already present within stadium was a judge. These judges were there to prevent fatal damage. Anyone within the bronze rank should not suffer fatal damage. Should that occur these judges would step in to prevent a lethal strike.

As soon as Eden made it into the stage, his opponent Soldan, also made it to the stage. They bowed to each other.

"Fighters, victory is achieved when opponent is unable to continue to battle or admits defeat.

Eden Durreye, Oak Academy versus Soldan of Summer Academy. Begin!" shouted the Judge."

Soldan immediately casted a spell that shot a gust of sharp wind that was released from his palms. Eden began to move. What Soldan casted was the a basic wind spell, wind blade, this spell was common amongst all the wind elementalist within the kingdom. As Eden began to move, Soldan sat in place simply using his wind blade spell. Eden was running and dodging all the wind blades aimed at him.

"Headmaster, it doesn't look like Eden is doing so good right now. All he is doing is dodging." mentioned Adara from up in the stands.

"Patience Adara, as long as Eden doesn't get hit, he is fine. He has also not exhausted any of his mana while his opponent has." said Headmaster Oak. "I believe Eden will make his move soon."

With the constant flurry of wind blades, Eden knew that he had to continue dodging until an opening was made. The advantage here was that Eden has yet to cast a spell, and with that his the element of surprise still existed. After dodging an endless amount of wind blade spell casts. Eden decided to jump in as he noticed that his opponent was slowing down. He waited for another wind blade to be fired off in order to dodge it. Eden stuck his foot in the ground and pressed off it diving towards Soldan. He wanted to close in on Soldan as fast as possible due to the distance Soldan could create for himself.

"I was waiting for that!" Soldan smiled.

Eden was baited by Soldan! Soldan was in the process of casting a flurry of wind blades at point blank range, where it was difficult for an opponent to dodge.

"What!" shouted Soldan as his hands were being pulled apart and his aim was interrupted. He was in shock. 'Damn a plant elementalist!' Vines were pulling his arms away from the direction he wanted to aim his wind blade spell. At the same time, Eden casted Leaf Barrage, leaves formed around him and shot at Soldan. Aimed at point blank range and tied up by the entangle spell, Soldan was helpless to stop Eden's attack.

"Ahh!!" screamed Soldan as several cuts appeared on his body. Eden pulled out his sword and aimed it at Soldan's neck.

"Contestant Soldan, is no longer able to participate." shouted the judge. "Winner! Eden! Oak Academy!"
