Kingdom Of The Moonlight Rose

Chapter 5 - Old Man Oak

Out near the Southern Border of the Ravenhart Kingdom. A military fort had been stood up recently. Soldiers could be seen sparring, archers practicing target practice, and the nearby commanders discussing how best to gain an advantage in their next war. Several hundred tents were lined up near the back of the fort.

A red haired man wearing a white and red colored armor could be seen making his way into to the closest tent at the center of the fort.

"How is your squadron doing general?" asked Vice CommanderHawk.

"They are ready when needed. I will not let my squadron slack" insisted Roan.

"Good, there are monsters that needed to be subjugated near Lance Village which is 25 miles east of here. Despite us being in a war, we need to protect our citizens first. Have your men begin to move out now. Call out to Barrett for assistance, he needs to gain more experience using his earth elemental abilities."

"Understood Vice-Commander!"

Roan left the tent. While on his way to gather his squadron and Barrett. A messenger came by and passed on a letter to him.

Opening up the letter, Roan realized it was a letter from his wife.

"Haha, who would've thought my son would be so talented. Dual elements, earth and light, not only that but unique traits. With that skillset, he could be a king of support on the battlefield in the future, healing and protecting. I hope he has kept up with his basic sword practices. That kid always yelling out about how great he is going to be one day" chuckled Roan. "Hopefully that kid picks a good school like Thauvin just like I did when I was younger."

----

"He just broke through the application stage and formed his mana heart and it looks like he is a step away from gaining Elemental Sight". thought the old man.

Eden began to wake up.

"Young boy, Wake up! Wake up!" shouted the old man.

Eden got up and looked at the old man that just stepped into his room.

"Huh...? Who are you old man...? Why are you staring at me so hard... Please don't touch me... Stay away... I'm an innocent child... I don't want to be seen by myself with an old man... I've heard many stories of old men chasing after innocent young boys like me." Eden grimaced.

"No you fool! I'm here representing the greatest opportunity you'll ever have in your life!" shouted the old man, "But first take a look at the changes you have experienced after going reaching the Acquisition Stage."

Eden could sense that his soul was larger and that it could store more mana than it could before. At the core of his soul mana danced around a brilliant light.

"Looks like you have obtained a mana heart. Once you complete the meditation process repeatedly, and your body gradually gets use to it, you will be able to obtain the last stage, Elemental Sight. After that you have completed the Entry Level. That is when the real fun starts."

Eden couldn't wait to get out of the entry level stages. He anticipated the day he casted his first spell.

"Lecherous old man, can you introduce yourself? All this talking and I still don't know who you are! And you talk about how you must be the best thing that happened to me. Maybe... my innocent self is the best thing that happened to you?" Eden said innocently.

"Oh.. this child... how rude... I walk in here giving him advice and he treats me as some creepy old man" cried the old man. "My name is Lazarus Oak, and I have come here to recruit you to the Oak Academy."

"This old man is actually a headmaster?" Eden thought to himself.

"Old man Oak, since you want to recruit me, what do you have that the other academies don't?" asked Eden.

"It's Professor Oak and I'm glad you asked Eden" Professor Oak shot back, he proceeded to take out a small notebook that looked like it had seen better days. "I saw a recording of your crystal ball examination and I know that you were able to obtain the moonlight trait. I have here the diary of the only known light elemental with the moonlight trait... until now. It contains some basic spells and how the moonlight spells work. This person sadly did not advance past the intermediate stage due to an early death and living in times of war. This person's early death may be the reason for no real recording of someone having a moonlight trait. Such is the sad story of genius's lives that were cut short."

Eden was shocked, he thought he may have been the only person to have the moonlight trait and he'd have a tough road. This would be a good start for his spell-crafting when he reached the next stage after finishing the Entry Level.

"I accept lecherous old... I mean Headmaster Oak. Please accept me into your academy."

"You are a wise one my child, to accept this offer. Your story begins here. From this moment forth you are Oak Academy's first student"

"huh... FIRST... WHAT!"
