After Lucia dropped off her novel at the library, we started heading toward the student council room to try and get a head start on our duties.

Unfortunately, since neither of us knew where the student council room was and Ameil neglected to include directions to the student council room in the packet, it took us about an hour to get there.

Which meant that instead of getting to the student council room ahead of schedule, we barely made it there on time.

“I told you that we should’ve taken a right back there!”

Lucia said, with a vexed expression on her face.

“Relax, it’s not like we’re late or anything. Didn’t the packet say that we have to be here by 9:00? It’s currently 8:59 right now.”

I remarked casually.

In response Lucia just sighed before knocking on the door to the student council room.

A few seconds later, the door swung open and we were greeted by a girl who had messy turquoise colored hair, bright orange eyes and a star shaped amulet around their neck.

She looked exactly like one of the girls on the cover of the dating sim…

The room behind her was windowless, and filled to the brim with cushy chairs, curved wooden desks, and large stacks of paper.

…I guess I was a bit naive in thinking that I wasn’t gonna come in contact with anyone else from the main cast of the game.

Welp, at least they didn’t seem as if they were going to try and challenge me to a duel anytime soon.

“No way… Lucia is that you? I haven’t seen you in forever!”

The orange-eyed girl said excitedly before wrapping her arms around Lucia, much to Lucia’s displeasure.

“And who’s that you got with you?”

She said, before turning her gaze over to me.

“I’m Otto, a friend of hers.”

“Pleased to meet you Otto. I’m Anne, the treasurer for the student council. It's nice to see that Lucia was able to find someone else who was willing to put up with her attitude.”

Anne said gleefully, before squeezing Lucia tighter.

“Anne… if you don’t get the hell off of me in the next 5 seconds, I’m going to incinerate you.”

“Hah. You haven’t changed a bit have you?”

Anne quipped before loosening her grip.

“So, what brings you guys here? I’m sure that y'all didn’t just drop by to say hello.”

“We’re here to fill in for Ameil and whoever’s the vice president.”

I said flatly, while pointing to the cards we were currently wearing.

“Ah right, they’re going on a field trip today aren’t they…”

There was jealousy evident in Anne’s voice.

“Anne, do you seriously still have a crush on my brother? It’s been 8 years.”

Lucia remarked incredulously.

“What! No, of course not!”

“I can tell just from your voice that you’re lying to me, dumbass.”

“Anyhow, we shouldn’t be focusing on that right now! We’ve got more important things to attend to!”

Anne said erratically, trying to change the subject.

“So, do you guys know what you’ve been assigned to do today?”

“Yeah, obviously.”

“Not really no.”

After Lucia heard my response, a bewildered expression overtook her face.

“What do you mean you don’t know, Otto? The packet outlined exactly what we’re gonna be doing today.”

“Maybe I’d have a better idea of what was outlined in the packet right now, if you didn’t hog the packet all the way here.”

“Whatever. Look, all we have to do today is collect signatures from people who would be interested in going to the school picnic.”

“Why would someone advertise an event just a few days before the event is happening?”

“You know, I’ve been wondering the exact same thing.”

Lucia remarked, before looking over to Anne.

“We’ve been so busy preparing for the picnic lately that we haven’t really had the time to advertise it…”

Anne said, with a bit of embarrassment in her voice.

“Anyhow, now that I know that you guys know what you’re doing. I’ve got to go make sure that the school has enough food in its storage for the picnic, don’t get into any trouble while I’m gone!”

After she finished her sentence, Anne brushed past the both of us and left the student council room.

“We should probably get going as well Otto.”

Lucia said, after stretching her arms a little.

“What for?”

I quipped before sitting down in one of the many comfortable chairs that were in the student council room.

“To go get signatures, idiot.”

“What if I told you that there was another way to get the signatures we need that doesn't involve us having to go outside and talking to people?”

I asked, after leaning back in my chair.

“I’m listening…”

“I can simply just make up an entire list of students who are interested in going to the school picnic.”

“Wouldn’t Anne notice that every signature was written in the same handwriting though?”

“I can easily forge the signatures of nobles and aristocrats, Lucia. I think that I can make it look like a bunch of highschoolers signed a sheet of paper.”

“Still, Anne would probably catch on pretty quickly that none of the names on the list were of real students.”

“Not if the list were to be tragically ruined by a bottle of coffee or milk being spilled all over it.”

I said, while shrugging my arms dismissively.

“Okay but then what if no one shows up to the picnic because they weren’t notified about the event?”

“Do you seriously think that the school’s not gonna put out an announcement or two about an event that costs them money to run? It’s not like you can get boxes of food for free Lucia.”

“...You’ve accounted for everything haven’t you?”

“What can I say, I’m good at cutting corners.”

I remarked, before putting my hands on the back of my neck and sinking deeper into my chair.

There's no way that I could've survived being in honors classes for 2 years in my previous life if I didn’t know how to find shortcuts quickly.

“I don’t know whether I should praise you or get you put on some government watchlist. The only people who think that far ahead are detectives and the serial killers they go after.”

“I’d prefer it if you went with the first option. Anyway, if we’re gonna go with this plan, could you go grab a bottle of dark coffee?”

“Why do I have to be the one that has to pick up the coffee? Don’t you also have legs?”

“Because I’m the one who came up with the idea and the one who has to fabricate the signatures.”

I said indignantly.

“Fair enough I guess.”

“Glad to see that we agree on something for once.”

“Alright, then I’ll be back in a couple of minutes, don’t die of brain rot while you’re waiting for me to return.”

Lucia said after walking out of the student council room at a brisk pace.

“Don’t burn the school down on your way to get the coffee.”

I quipped before grabbing some writing utensils from a nearby desk to forge signatures with.
