The next few hours went by rather quickly, considering that I didn’t really have much that I needed to do or wanted to do. And before I knew it. It was Saturday morning.

“Ugh. Why does this school have to make the bells ring even on the weekends? It makes no sense.”

I mumbled to myself before begrudgingly getting out of my warm bed, grabbing myself a clean change of clothes and brushing my teeth.

Then I started heading over towards the spot where we met every morning, since Lucia neglected to give me any indication that she wanted to change the meeting spot for today.

And after a couple minutes of waiting, Lucia arrived.

“The hell are you doing here for?”

Lucia asked in an exasperated tone of voice before grabbing ahold of my hand and dragging me outside the library.

“Well, you didn’t specifically tell me to meet with you somewhere else today. So I assumed that you just wanted to meet where we usually met.”

“I thought that you were smart enough to figure it out yourself, but I guess I overestimated your intelligence a little.”

“It doesn’t matter how smart you are, you’re not figuring something out if you’re not given anything to work with.”

“You just can’t ever let me win, can you?”

Lucia remarked before narrowing her ruby eyes at me.

“It’s not my fault that you’re terrible at creating compelling arguments.”

I said after shrugging my shoulders.

“Anyway, what’s got you so ticked off today, Lucia?”

“…Huh? How could you tell?”

She looked at me with a befuddled expression on her face.

“Well your face looks more frustrated than it usually does and your wand is smoking a little.”

I said nonchalantly while pointing at the wand that she was currently clutching in her left hand.

“...Why can’t you be this perceptive all the time?”

“Unlike you, I don’t really like wasting my energy.”

“Of course, you don’t. Anyway, if you must know, I’m a bit ticked off right now because I ran into Marie before I got here.”

“Don’t you see her everyday in class though?”

If you could barely handle bumping into her for a couple of seconds, how could you possibly last sitting next to her for hours at a time?

“No shit, but it’s the weekend right now. How would you like it if you bumped into somebody you disliked on the one day that you were supposed to be free from their presence?”

“Ah I see. Well, at least you don’t have to deal with them anymore right?”

The moment that I finished my sentence, Lucia grabbed my shirt and pulled the both of us behind a nearby bush.

Which caused her to fall on top of me.

“You just had to jinx it, didn’t you?”

“Why are you whispering-”

Before I could finish speaking, Lucia put her right hand over my mouth and tilted her head a bit to the left.

In turn, I instinctively started looking in the direction that she gestured toward.

…It was Marie, Anne, and Ameil.

“Oh you have got to be kidding me.”

I muttered under my breath.

“Now what are we supposed to do? I don’t want to deal with the whole fuckin trifecta of idiots on my day off.”

“Why are you asking me?”

“You’re the one who usually comes up with the plan in situations like this.”

“Fair enough, let me think for a second. I wasn’t really planning on dealing with the entire unholy trinity today.”

I remarked before looking through my mind palace for a good idea or two.

Unfortunately, since my heart was racing so much, it was really hard for me to focus and find any ideas that could help us get out of this mess.

“The hell’s taking you long?”

“I’d have an easier time thinking of a way to get out of this mess, if you weren’t lying on top of me right now.”

I retorted, with a hint of annoyance in my voice.

“If I get off of you right now, those idiots over there would instantly notice that we’re here. So bear with it for a couple more seconds… by the way your heart is racing so fuckin fast right now, Otto.”

“Did you have to bring that up now? Besides, so is yours.”

“It… it is not.”

Lucia stuttered.

“Oh no, it definitely is.”

“Okay, fine, my heart's also racing really fast right now… do you have a problem with it?”

“No, not really.”

“Right then… how about we just stay like this until the trinity of idiots leaves the area? Sure, we’ll probably have to stay here a bit later than everyone else, but at least we’ll be able to have a weekend devoid of any interactions with them.”

“And I thought that I was the one who was supposed to come up with the plans. Yeah, I’m fine with that.”

“Glad to hear it…”

A couple minutes after we finished having that conversation, Marie, Ameil and Anne left the area.

But instead of letting go of me… Lucia for some unknown reason tightened her grip on me.

Which in turn caused my heart rate to spike.

“Oi, what gives?”

“Ah shit… I was afraid that this was gonna happen.”

Lucia said, before loosening her hold on me and sighing a little.

“Hey Otto… could I maybe say something that might strain our friendship a little?”

“You do that everyday, Lucia.”

I remarked with a blank expression on my face.

“...I think that I might have started to like you… romantically.”

“You’re kidding right?”

“I wish that I was.”

“Since when?”

“Honestly, I have no clue.”

“I see…”

“Well, now that you know how I feel about you, tell me how you feel about me… it’s the least that you could do… idiot.”

“…I think that I’ve come to like you as well.”

I said while averting eye contact with Lucia.

As much as I wanted to deny it. What I’ve felt recently really could only be described as one thing… the symptoms of falling in love with somebody troublesome.

“That’s great to hear...”

“…Now that we’ve confirmed our feelings for each other. Where do we go from here?”

I asked, while trying my best to hold my composure.

“Hell if I know, most romance novels usually just end at this point.”
