Legacy Of Forgotten Times

Chapter 5 - The Powers Part 1

Once he was done hugging his mother. Linri went back to his seat. His mother was looking at Linri with eyes demanding an explanation. As long as you weren't blind anyone could see that Linri was shaken up by something so as his mother Lyra was obviously worried.

"I saw a nightmare... I don't remember what I saw but I remember it being scary. It felt like I lost my family forever and there was nothing I could do about it"

The best liars knew that the correct way to lie was to add truth into to lie and being as vague as possible, letting the other person filling in the blanks on his own. Nobody would admit to it but in order to be a successful member of the current society, you have to learn how to tell a good lie. Linri was no exception. Maybe he was a little better than the most because of his upbringing.

Linri's father in real life was a special forces police unit so he grew up being constantly interrogated by his father. Because of that, he found easy to lie to others. In his eyes, if he could deceive his father who was trained to see through lies there were not many people who could see through Linri.

Even in this case, Linri didn't exactly lie. Everything he said was truth aside from the part where he didn't remember anything about the nightmare but no one would focus on the first sentence in conversations so it was always better to start with a lie and end with the truth if you want to deceive someone.

When he was thinking all this Lyra mistook it with him still feeling down so this time it was her who came and hugged Linri.

"Don't worry sweetie. We are not going anywhere. No matter what happens we will always be together."

Hearing those words for some reason Linri started to feel better. Her voice had a calming effect on him and for a minute there he actually believed that they would never break apart.

After an awkward breakfast on Linri's part, he quickly went back to his room. He started to evaluate his situation and what he knows.

Secondly, there was someone that instigated this event. He wasn't sure who it was but Max remembered Linri saying 'him' in the conversations as if this 'him' was some kind of important person.

Thirdly This was a complete world. In other words, anything he didn't specify in his backstory was something he didn't know about in this world. For example Linri's mother. He didn't write anything about her except for some simple stuff but she was here. So he couldn't completely trust his knowledge about Linri's background as anything vaguely mentioned might be completely different from what he intended.

Lastly 'Linri' told him that they were going to be the ones to toy with them. They as in RP characters and them being the players. What he could infer from this was he was not the only one that came here which was a relief and there is a high possibility that this time it was gonna be the characters that were gonna wrote the story. So if they were to control them their lives would be 10 times harder and his knowledge about future might be obsolete since 'Linri' might change how things go.

Now that he had sorted out his thoughts and gained some more understanding about his situation Linri wanted to try using his powers. After all, this world was based on Autumnfall RP club and the setting of the club was a high school for teenagers with superpowers like that comic book.

The catch was in order to have diversity in the club no two people could have the same power but there could be similar powers. For example, there might be Wind based power one of which was focused on manipulating the wind while the other one was a classic wind mage. The important was the concept and the abilities.

The concept of Linri's power was Stones of Day&Night. In the day he had the power to bend any and all kind of fire to his will but at night his power would turn him into a cryomage. In other words, Linri had seized two elemental power seats. This was one of the perks of being some of the first ones to create a character. After all elemental powers allowed them to have more creativity and had more room for development.

Still, his powers weren't without any weaknesses. For example, in the day he could manipulate fire but he couldn't create it so he needed an external fire source. That doesn't mean his power wasn't broken though. When he first created power there was one line the admins had failed to notice. He could manipulate 'any and all fire'. If you haven't caught on to it yet he could also control other people's flames. So when the admins noticed, it was too late. Because it was in the middle of a boss fight who was a fire elemental so in the middle of the fight admins had forcefully shut him out of the area and had banned him from rejoining the fight. Though it was too late as the boss was in its last HP by then.

Following that event, they didn't force Max to edit his power though because they didn't need to. There was a power progression system called evolution. It was kinda self-explanatory. So if Max wanted to evolve Linri's power he had to readjust his fire manipulation to only affect non-magic created fire or he would have to stay weak with a power broken only on certain occasions.

In order to try his powers Linri needed a fire source and since this house had the same layout with his old one Linri checked his desk for a lighter. He usually had one on his desk because he started to smoke cigarettes when he was 18. Still, he couldn't find any lighter on his desk so he went downstairs and got one from the kitchen. Then he lit it and tried to manipulate that fire. He concentrated on the fire but it didn't seem to do anything.

This also helped Linri realize when he was. He was currently younger than 15 years old since that was when Linri the RP character had met the Togk deities. So he had to quickly find a way to recreate that event where Linri met the deities. Still, he was not in a hurry yet as he was sure things would still go the same way they did in the background he wrote. Right now he was in urgent need of some kind of self-protection but if he was too hasty that could spell some deviation from what he wrote so he had to patient.
