Legendary Sword God Sect

Chapter 9 - Shrouds of mystery

(Nightin's POV)

Lying on the hard and low quality mattress, I cross my arms and rest my head on it, wandering about the bleak future that remains unknown. Laughing, I mock myself for being the poorest sect master that ever existed, one too poor to even afford a pillow that most mortals can afford without feeling a pinch.

Pushing open the window made of bamboo, I smile towards the ray of sunlight shining on my face. The sunlight was telling me to be hopeful of the future, but I can still sense those worries traversing the mountains and waters just to seek me out. It was a miraculous feeling, but I just know that by the time I finish building up the sect, fate would be prepared to play its second ace card.

From there, I wonder. If that's only the second ace card, then what about the third and fourth? Will they still spell disaster or will they finally be in my hands to put up a last stand against the pathetic future of mine.

"System, I have a selfish request that I must state right now. Do make me forget about it after I leave behind this set of instructions, but always do as I'm going to say. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes host, the job of the system is to assist you to the best of your abilities and fulfill your requests in accordance with the contribution and merit points you've made."

"No, I want you to provide as minimal assistance as possible to me until I reach the Martial Emperor realm. Even if I lose myself then, mark my words and never go against my orders or it might really mark the end of my future."

"But host, my job is to…"

"Shut up! Didn't you say that you'll do as told? I'll repeat this again. Do as I said and erase my memories after I fall asleep in the last peaceful night of my life."

I didn't know why, but I felt a burning d.e.s.i.r.e to settle all the problems I'm having once and for all by today. Making up my mind, I left the room and suddenly, something dropped out of my robe. I didn't know what it was, but I felt my heart skip a beat of worry as I slowly bent down to pick it up.

It was a simple necklace and in the middle of it was a glass piece, on it was the beautiful image of a young woman. She had white hair which flowed down her shoulder and her skin was fair as snow, her looks enchanted me and I felt the urge to find her and ask her why she left. But then, I can't even recall who she is no matter how hard I racked my brains, all I know is that she had left me in order to protect me.

No one had to tell me, I just know that our final goodbye was one of extreme grief as we pushed the mysterious sword placed above our heart deeper in, the pain was one of emotions and probably the worst one could experience.

Compared to physical pain and mental pain, the pain that the problems of the heart can bring outscales them.

"Just, who is she?"

Those were the only words that I managed to say before tears gushed out of my eyes, probably for the last time of my life.

It's fine, I'll see her again one day and that day won't be far.

To be able to see into the past and future was an ability that only one person since the beginning of time would possess, the child of reincarnation who will possess the ability of seeing through everything. The buried history and the fogged future, the ability of samsara. The ability to control the cycles of life as he deem fit.

Don't worry, I'll find you no matter what and even if you have tears to spare, don't lose them and keep them with you. Convert those tears of sadness into tears of joy which you can let out when we reunite that day and I'll make sure to bring you back no matter where you are.

Sitting down on the rock by the waterfall, the cold breeze scratches my face as I paid no heed to it. I looked down and seeing the depth of the fall, I smiled as I stood up and returned to the room, pretending as though nothing happened upon realising that serenity is a sovereign trait that shouldn't exist in this world.

Why?

People strive for it all their lives, each wanting to be above one another in terms of position so that they can enjoy peace. But even if one manages to leave the mundane world and gain cultivation prowess, trouble will still come knocking on the door for them because those who are stronger definitely wouldn't settle for others weaker than them to enjoy peace, not when they have their fair load of problems.

One may say that it's unfair, but how many among the millions will question themselves about this. What would happen if this world is fair? Try asking yourself now before you continue on with life.

Before I realised it, the moon had already began to do its daily task as I returned to the room, my mind heavily light as I told myself to brace myself for the unknown future.
