Life After Death: Reincarnation

Chapter 4 - Three: Life is a bitch

~Death~

I glared at her behind that desk, smirking and bobbing her head stupidly as if taunting me to drive my scythe into her well endowed c.h.e.s.t.

My blood boiled at the very sight of her blonde wavy hair, her sky blue chinky eyes, at milky white skin. Her lips were smothered blood red with lipstick and her cheeks so puffy with make up.

That smirk. I wanna rip it off her f.u.c.k.i.n.g face.

"So, sister. How's Death fairin' these days?" She inched her face closer to mines.

"Better to see dead people than your perfect, bitchy a.s.s." I wanna pull her head and slam it to the desk so hard. Keep calm and deep breath. "What the hell are you even doing here?"

"I'm Life, of course. I need to watch over the lives of my subjects. You don't want them to die now, do you?"

"Is it why you willed those people to make way for Aeris?" I slightly raised my voice, trying to control the deadly aura locked within me.

"Well, I only wanted him to run straight into your arms is all. Besides, aren't you always watching over him?"

"Why you-" I grabbed the colar of her laboratory coat and pulled it towards me.

"Now, now Death. You don't want to anger Him now, do you?" She smirked even wider.

"You lil'shit." I let her go. Everyone was staring at us, scared of what might happen. Behind me, two angels fainted from my aura. I knelt by their side and touched their foreheads.

"Wake." their eyes immediately fluttered open, fear instilled in their eyes. "Sorry about that. You should be ok now."

They nodded, still shaking from what happened and went on their way.

Life moved out of the desk and stood right next to me. She was wearing a flowery sunday dress underneath her lab coat. Her stilettos were higher the her ego, which I complimented her short, voluptuous stature.

"Clumpsy Death." Her evil smile is so annoying I just want to bust one of my reapers out and have them cut it off her face. "if you keep it up like that a lot of people will die." She laughed like a witch and slowly disappeared in a flash of light. Good ridance.

Everyone who was watching the events unfold resumed their daily duties as if nothing happened. I did too.

I walked to the meeting room.

Not all the souls are like Aeris. Some die on the spot. Some die temporarily. Some never die but fall under a state of coma.

We file them and look at them as we decide whether they live or die. After that, we would weigh their souls and decide on where they will go; Heaven, Hell, Purgatory.

"You're late." Raphael's Glare was eternal. He hated people being late, specially when he's on a tight schedule.

Everyone was already seated and in position. There were about 9 people in total; the four archangels which were Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel; The council of Grimm Reapers which consist of Anubis, Thanatos, Mars, Hela, and Hades

Death is a role, not an entity. Well, to be more accurate Grimm reaper is a role. There are other Grimm reapers like Anubis and Thanatos. We all the same but different in a few ways. Anubis was from the egyptian Era, he preferred mummification. Thanatos was from the greek era and wanted sacrifices. I just wanted to guide souls.

"Sorry." I pulled my chair and sat down. "I ran into a problem. Had to deal with it first."

"Nevermind. You're up, anyway. Are you ready?"

I straightened my back and put on my game face, which means putting my resting bitch face on. "Yes, Sir."

Presentation took about an hour of slides and explanations, Aeris's file included. Some of them died in honorable ways, like Jack Nelson. He died while saving kids from a burning building. He managed to save all but one. Before he can save the kid, the entrance collapsed and it was getting more and more unstable each passing second. He jumped off the third building with the kid, his back faced to the ground and the kid above him. He died while hitting the ground but his body acted as a cusion softening the kid's landing.

Some of them were gruesome and mischievous, like Dilan Spry. He was a murderer, convicted for more than a hundred murders. He was never caught until he died of cancer in a hospital bed. Only then did he admit to killing his victims.

Other's were just clumsy like Aeris's, dying while clumsily running into oncoming traffic.

Aeris.... Damn it, Life. It's not his time yet.

I've been watching over him ever since his near-death experience. He was just 11 when he got shot by a stray bullet. Poor kid didn't even know what happened 'til I told him.

"Is that me?" He was staring at his body lying on the floor infront of him, his mother, in shock holding his head in her hands telling him to hold on.

"Yes." I stood behind him, and patted his head. "Everything will be alright. Just hold on."

I saw his father standing by the side, on his phone, obviously in panic, calling an ambulance.

"You're gonna take me, aren't you?" He stared right into my eyes. Those eyes, they were the eyes of someone who's gone through deep pain. "It's fine. I understand."

"I can. But I won't." I smiled at him, put my hand on his shoulders. He smiled back.

"Thank you."

"My name's Death. What's yours?" I wiped the tears falling from his cheeks.

"Aeris." He started weeping a bit. "Thank you, Death." he used my black reaper robes to whip his tears.

From that day on, I've watched over him. I don't know what he was or what he had that made me tick, but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something about him.

"Death? Are you ok?" Gabriel asked.

"Huh?" My mind drifted off again. I was still staring at Aeris's slide.

"You spaced out for a bit there." Michael raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, I'm Ok. Sorry."

I finished after an hour and we all came to a decision on what to do with each soul, passing judgement upon them. Thank God Aeris is still in a coma or else he would've been judged.

It's quite tiring considering you had to report on hundreds of souls in New York alone. It's a good thing time flows differently inside the meeting room. It could've taken ages for me to finish.

We gave the list of judgement to Uriel to be recorded in the book of life. We all left after the meeting.

I bumped into Life on the way out.

"Meeting is done. Go home."

"I'm not here for that boring meeting." She snorted. "Raphael?" She tackled him and kissed his cheeks.

"Oh." I said. "I'd stay away from her, if I were you Raph." I gave him a grin with a sly evilness in my look, "She probably kissed more demons than angels."

I laughed and walked away as Life glared at me from behind.

Life is a bitch, or so they say. So what do you do to bitches? F.u.c.k'em. F.u.c.k'em up hard.
