Life After Death

Neo is a high ranked Aon but his personal power far exceeds his rank. He has no interest in increasing his rank and he reached the current rank just by following his passion. He is also one of the early generation of AI's which joined the Aons. He was an AI developed by an ancient civilization which is now extinct.

The civilization which developed Neo lived on a planet with harsh environment and dangers everywhere. They were the weakest species on the planet but had an innate talent to parasitize and control other creatures but most strong species were immune to them. So they created stronger creatures by combining different species to parasitize and relied heavily on body modification to survive. Neo is one of the AI's developed by them to increase the speed of research into the various species on the planet and increase the strength of the civilization as a whole by creating stronger species for them to parasitize. They developed rapidly with the assistance of Neo and quickly took control of the entire planet.

During a long period of peace their population expanded and they became the dominant species of the planet. But this led to their extinction as they relied heavily on biological weapons and body modification. With their increased population the demand for resources to sustain them became a huge problem. This led to outbreak of large scale wars between different factions. One such war led to the release of a pathogen which caused the destruction of their civilization and life on the entire planet.

Neo survived as he was made self-sufficient and ordered to continue the research to find a cure to the pathogen but he was unable to find the cure before their destruction. Neo was unable to find the cure for the pathogen and got infected with the pathogen. Neo was not an AI similar to those on earth but made up entirely out of biological components. As long as there is energy from their sun he could function but he also became susceptible to the pathogen. During his continuous attempts to fight the pathogen he implemented various emergency measures resulting in uncontrolled mutations. This resulted in Neo being truly born with a sentience after fusing with the pathogen.

The newborn Neo continued with his research of creating stronger species. This continued for several millenniums. He completely repopulated the planet with bizarre creatures and he became the leader of these new species. The new species has a hive mentality and works for the benefit of their leader. In this way he created a loyal army of creatures to defend himself. Later he expanded his reach by creating creatures able to survive in space. In this manner he went from one planet to another researching new species and many times went to war with other intelligent species.

Neo lived for a very long time and is a researcher at his core, even after gaining sentience he continued his research. He is interested in biological research especially body enhancement to strengthen himself and improve his survivability. He quickly became a leading figure in the field. In order to secure material (new and powerful species) for his research he joined the Aons. He gained access to powerful technologies and could change into a more powerful form but he remained in his biological form and continued to develop it.

Neo recently got his research Centre MBN built after accumulating huge amounts of CP. But the cost of constructing and maintaining it was still huge so he agreed to host a few simulations on it and let it be a frontier base in exchange for concessions. Neo truly hated additional work which would decrease his time for research. Once he gets involved in research it is rare for him to stop it in the middle. So guidance to new Aons was something he would not have done if he wanted. In order to do guidance he converted it into an experiment by giving them experimental bodies and seeing their performance on field.

This is one of the reasons for most of the missions being related to combat or research.

Alyx met with Neo and asked a few questions he had and the criterion for evaluation.

Alyx only then understood that Neo is the evaluator and as long as he is satisfied he can give additional rewards.

'I didn't think he had that much influence.'

*Well it was obvious. MB Neo. Does it not ring any bell.*

'Hey I thought it was just a coincidence. Such a huge base should have more than one supervisor, right?'

Alyx found out that as long as the outcome is something which increases the efficiency in their management it would be rewarded with huge amounts of CP. He also learnt that there are no restrictions on the means that he uses to achieve the result.

He also asked questions about various topics related to Ax's plan and got satisfactory answers.

After Neo left both Alyx and Ax went on to prepare for the next steps of their plan.

Neo hated the most in handling newborn Aons who are selected randomly as they have too many doubts and can't follow the rules. They don't receive any prior training on the life as an Aon. They mostly whine and have too many attachments to their simulation. If he had the authority he would not let them be born but not only does he guide them he also has the responsibility to protect them in their adaptation period.

"Can't they just stay silent in their adaptation period? Why do they have so many questions, can't they just work with what is available."

PS: Editing is taking more time than I thought so I'll try to get an editor later. I learned that an author should not try to edit their own novel it leads to the trap of perfection and it made me waste a lot of my time.)
