Life With A System

Chapter 12 - Little Girl

When Xia Shishu asked them, "Do you want to join," the party members greedily nodded their heads.

In Second Reality, why would someone not accept a quest? Hunting monsters for level is already so hard in the beginning stages. A pro is leading them so they should just accept it once offered!

But before they were all happy, Xia Shishu told them that only two people can join him!

They party of five decided to duke it out by playing rock paper scissors. In the end, Mu Litong and another player named Link won.

When Xia Shishu shared the quest with them, they were scared out of their wits! A C-Level quest! So far, the highest grade quest they accepted was only D leveled quests!

An E-Level quest was already considered hard for them. They're both only level 6! They knew that the quest difficulty had increased because they were about to face a high level monster or even a beginner boss monster!

But they were curious to see what a C grade quest will be like. They might encounter it later anyways, might as well have a pro guide them through it!

The Village Elder seemed to be concerned about his daughter so he hurriedly left the village center.

"Ahem, before we leave… Let me go use the bathroom. I have biological needs." Xia Shishu told his remaining partners. He felt like his stomach is killing him!

When he logged off, he rushed towards the bathroom. He was lucky since nobody is in it at the moment.

Sitting in the bathroom is quite the boring task. He used to bring his phone with him in all the time, but when he thought about it carefully, it didn't seem too hygienic so he decided to refrain himself from bringing his phone to the toilet.

Since he was bored sitting on the toilet, he decided to play around with his System's interface. He was awestruck when he found out that the Second Reality inventory works in reality.

When he clicked the equip button on his rag shirt, it appeared in real life! He was wearing his Second Reality equipment!

Time passed by quickly when he played with his Second Reality inventory. In no time at all, he finished with his business in the restroom.

Before he logged back into Second Reality, he placed his modern rectangular camera into his inventory. It's quite old and he mostly only uses his phone for photo taking nowadays. He wanted to confirm if he can bring real-life items into Second Reality.

"Ahem... I'll let you guys contribute to the quest. Let's go to the backwoods. Lead the way." One of the reasons why he wanted the other two players to join his quest was because he didn't know much about Silver Lake Village's geography.

Mu Litong and Link almost tumbled down. Couldn't he just say that he doesn't know the way to the backwoods?

Respectfully, Mu Litong and Link went south of the village. Mu Litong didn't show Xia Shishu disrespect anymore. His motto was fear the strong and mock the weak.

Before they reach the south entrance, they need to pass by the market area.

As they trod along the market road, Xia Shishu spotted a little girl in the market corner hugging her legs and sitting on the ground while she stares at a wall. Beside her was a basket of pink flowers.

There was no one around the little girl that seems to be 6 or 7 years old. Xia Shishu was worried about the little girl since he has a little sister himself. He wanted to help the little girl out if she was lost or in need of something.

"Hey mister, would you like to buy a flower from me? A flower is only ten copper coin." With a nearly inaudible voice, the little girl with amber hair and braided twin tails asked Xia Shishu and co when they got near her.

The flowers she is trying to sell is the same as the pink flowers from outside of Silver Lake's south gate. Any players or NPC will know about it if they went outside the village gate at least once. They can literally go and pluck the flowers for themselves if they wish to.

His big brother personality appeared. He remembers when he and his little sister will play outside when they are little kids. Little kids like that girl shouldn't be worrying about making money, and she should be playing until tired instead.

Players lack money in the early stages, and they don't want to waste it on flowers they can get from outside the gate. The NPCs have to eat, sleep, and earn money like normal people too.

The little girl had never sold a single flower to anyone, but she kept on selling it because the aunty that adopted her wants her to be useful.

Kind-hearted people wanted to buy flowers from the little girl, but they usually don't even have enough money to support themselves in their daily mob grinds. Selling pink flowers for 10 copper each was just too expensive.

Did any rich tycoon from the real world help the girl yet? No! Second Reality is not linked to any of Real World Banks yet because there are not enough players in the Big Cities. A player can only get coins if they do private transactions with other players.

Those rich tycoons are only focused on raising their own troops in Second Reality so they can later build up their company or empire.

"Hey brother, don't buy it. It's just a waste of money. She's just an NPC anyways." Mu Litong's voice sounded out from behind him.

Xia Shishu sighed. Be it the real world or the fake one, there will always be sad things occurring everywhere.

The little girl doesn't have many pink flowers in the basket… She only has around 10 flowers.

He wants to help the little girl. Although he understands that this is just a game, the little girl's life in Second Reality is real. Just the fact that he can bring items from Second Reality to his reality with his System makes the little girl even more realistic.

"I'll buy all your flowers okay?" Xia Shishu reduced the volume of his voice and spoke to the little girl as he got down to her eye level.

The girl didn't even look at him when he spoke to her. She just nodded and pushed the basket of flowers his way.

Xia Shishu gave her the silver coin he just got and was about to leave, but he felt that something wasn't right because the little girl just keeps staring at the wall.

"Tsk. Poor people really don't know how to appreciate kindness." Mu Litong spoke once again.

Xia Shishu ignored Mu Litong. He crouched down towards the little girl a second time and tried to chat with her.

"What's your name?"

"Do you need me to take you home?"

"Where are your parents?"

He asked question after question, but the little girl didn't respond to him.

He checked his inventory and took out the rectangular camera from his inventory. Surprisingly, it appeared in perfect condition. His inventory works both ways between Second Reality and his reality.

The other two players saw what Xia Shishu was holding and couldn't help but admire Xia Shishu even more.

How can this Pro be so amazing? He even managed to get a camera!

Xia Shishu turned the camera on and showed the little girl. She turned her head a little, looking at the camera like a curious kitten.

"This thing can let you see everything the normal eyes can see. It can even save images like memories. It's really cool, right? Do you want brother to teach you how to play with it?" Xia Shishu persuaded the little girl. He wanted her to stop staring at the wall and go play.

Seeing that the little girl nodded again, Xia Shishu began to teach her the about the functions of the camera.

The little girl is really smart. She memorized everything Xia Shishu taught her in just a few minutes.

With one eye closed and one eye on the camera, she turned away from the wall. She gazed at Xia Shishu through the camera lens. Before she ran off with the camera in hand, she thanked Xia Shishu indistinctly and bowed.

The little girl looked funny when she ran with one eye closed and one eye on the camera. Xia Shishu felt happy. Maybe the little girl will go play like a child should now.

"Sorry for the delay. Go and lead the way to the backwoods."

Mu Litong led the party again. He was quite pissed that Xia Shishu stopped for a little girl though.
