Chapter 3 – Cough

Gao Yifeng’s “reflection” took Xiaopang by surprise.

When walking out of the examination room, Xiaopang walked slowly. After all, English was a subject she was good at. Her poor science score gap was counting on the scores from the English language to fill the gap between it. As soon as she returned to the classroom, the head teacher rushed over, and when he saw Xiaopang, he asked her: “Xing Xue, do you know where Gao Yifeng is?”

“Um, he and I are not in the same examination room…”

“I know, but he didn’t take the exam.”

Xiaopang felt like she had been hit with a stifling blow, heavy and uncomfortable.

“What’s wrong with him?”

“I don’t know, no one answered the phone. I’m worried about what happened to him and I can’t find him anywhere. I’ll have to contact his parents.”

When she heard that  there was a possibility of calling his parents, Xiaopang couldn’t help but shiver. Gao Yifeng’s dad had a hot temper, and he always had been violent when he taught his son. Xiaopang hurriedly stopped, “Teacher Wang, I will help you find him first. If I can’t find him, you can contact his family.”

   “One hour.”

   “Okay.”

After the teacher left, Xiaopang dialed Gao Yifeng’s cell phone. It was picked up only after it rang twice. A drunken voice sounded from the phone, “Hello?”

    “Gao Yifeng, are you drinking?”

    “Hello? Xiaopang?”

    “It’s me, where are you?”

   “I have no idea.”

    “…”

Gao Yifeng was in a small bar in the middle of nowhere. He was lying on the table, staring at the wine glass in front of him, smiling slightly, his eyes blurred.

Why bother, Xiaopang said to herself, why bother to be too serious. The friendship between her and Gao Yifeng for more than ten years was still there. No matter what, if he didn’t inform her then there naturally had to be a reason for that.

Despising herself deeply, Xiaopang walked over as Gao Yifeng squinted his eyes and smiled at her, whispering “Xiao Pang” over and over again.

Towards Gao Yifeng’s voice, Xiaopang’s resistance was zero. After the low pure voice was deliberately lowered, it possessed some kind of seductive magic. Xiaopang did not drink, but she felt drunk.

Xiaopang walked over and gave him a little push, “Gao Yifeng, let’s go.”

Gao Yifeng did not spill his drink, stood up obediently, and let Xiaopang support him.  When the two were about to leave, the bartender was unhappy, “The bill…”

Xiaopang smiled apologetically, all her attention just now was on Gao Yifeng. She just wanted to ask how much it was, but Gao Yifeng boldly slapped his wallet on the bar, “Take it yourself.”

Xiaopang dumbfoundedly counted the money she took out from the wallet and handed it to the bartender, and then stuffed the wallet into Gao Yifeng’s trouser pocket. Before she could draw her hand out, Gao Yifeng held her down, laughing enchantingly, “Don’t touch!”

Xiaopang: “…” She originally had no intention, but if her hand were to be pressed this way, she would be able to touch it…

It wasn’t funny for Gao Yifeng to get drunk. He had a good alcohol tolerance. It was not easy for him to get drunk so easily. Xiaopang didn’t know how much Gao Yifeng drank this time, or how much sanity he had left. She stretched out a finger to test him, “How many?”

Gao Yifeng smiled but did not answer as he grabbed her hand. Xiaopang jerked, but could pull away as she could not wrestle her hand from his. Probably because he was drunk, his palm felt very hot, so Xiaopang’s face started to burn.

Gao Yifeng stopped suddenly and looked at Xiaopang solemnly, “I’m sorry, Xiaopang.”

   “Eh?”

Gao Yifeng: “I did a lot of bad things to you.”

    “For example?”

    “I wasn’t a good friend.”

Xiaopang was very guilty, “No, I was just joking today, you shouldn’t take it seriously.”

   “Really?”

“It’s me who should be apologizing, I was too cautious.”

    “Xiaopang.”

   “Hmm?”

Gao Yifeng murmured to Xiaopang, and suddenly pulled her into his arms gently embracing her.

This move was sudden and powerful; Xiaopang had no time to react as she fell into Gao Yifeng’s arms. It was just a hug, but she felt as if she was surrounded by him, his chest, his shoulders, his arms, his… breath.

Xiaopang closed her eyes, feeling a little dizzy.

Gao Yifeng leaned against her ear and rubbed his chin gently against her neck. He said softly, “Xiaopang, don’t hate me.”

    “En, won’t hate you.”

    “Don’t hide from me.”

    “En, won’t hide.”

    “Xiaopang…”

    “Hey, I said,” Xiaopang nudged him, “Er… that… that… a man shouldn’t stay alone with a woman…that’s not good.”

Gao Yifeng repeated eagerly: “Women… accept… don’t… kiss?”

Uh, it was barely right? Xiaopang nodded, you shouldn’t ask too much of drunk people.

Gao Yifeng let go of Xiaopang and looked at her seriously. He smiled, “Skinny girl, can’t kiss. Fat girl, can kiss?”

   “What?”

Without waiting for her reaction, Gao Yifeng lowered his head and quickly pressed a kiss on her lips.
