Chapter 12 - 12: Edward's Feelings

Morning came and Edward started his morning routine then made his way to the dining room where his mother was having breakfast. "Edward dear don't forget you will be coming with Lisa, her mother and I after school today for some shopping and then having dinner with our family and hers later", said Juliet.

"Do I really have to go shopping", sighed Edward.

"Don't you want to have lunch with Lisa and see her try on dresses".

"Wh-what! W-why would I!"

"Honestly you're terrible at hiding the fact you like her. I can't believe it though. My son who's never fallen in love before has fallen in love after two days. I'm not sure what to think but I'm not complaining".

"Mother-".

"Hou. So my brother has fallen in love. How rare", smiled Daniel as he joined his family for breakfast.

"B-brother?! Didn't you say you were leaving early today?"

"Yes but then I changed my mind. It's not like I have any classes this morning", replied Daniel. "Anyway who is the girl?"

"It's none of your-".

"It's Lisa Tael. Charles's younger sister. Daughter of the Tael family", responded Juliet as she ignored Edward's presence.

"Oh I remember her. It's been a while since I last saw her. She moved out of her family home a few months ago didn't she?"

"Yes, and it's the first week of school, but she has already made a contract and made my stubborn son fall in love with her. I wish I had a daughter like her. Maybe Christine might let me swap Edward with Lisa for a few days".

"I wouldn't bet on that happening", laughed Daniel.

"Wait, you already know her", scowled Edward.

"Yes. I am childhood friends with her brother".

"Childhood friends?"

"Did I forget to mention that her brother has been number one in basically everything since he was 13".

"Wait. Does that mean he is-".

"Yes he defeated me when we went to the same university, and I am now known as second place, but I don't mind losing to him".

"Huh?"

"Anyway I'm going to leave now. Goodbye mother, and good luck with your love life brother".

Juliet chuckled as she watched Edward eat his breakfast with a bright red face.

Edward soon made his way to school and kept his tradition of arriving 1 hour and 5 minutes before school starts. He met Philip who was waiting for him at the entrance and started a conversation with him and told him about what happened last night and what he found in Lisa's apartment.

Soon Lisa arrived at the school gate.

Lisa figured Edward is now a friend of hers so she walked up and said, "good morning. You two are quite early".

"Isn't that the same for you Miss Tael. A girl who wishes to be an author but can't write", smiled Philip.

'Just because you're friends with Edward doesn't mean I'll be friends with you', thought Lisa.

"How has your morning been Lisa", said Edward as he tried to get rid of the murderous aura Lisa was emitting.

"It was alright before all of this. Well anyway I am going to get going now, goodbye". Lisa waved goodbye as she walked away from them while wishing she could throw someone off a cliff.

'Can't write, I'll show you. I will become a published author one day and be number one!'

Philip chuckled as he turned to Edward and said, " so you two have already agreed on the terms for your contract".

"Yes. Steven Shelton said he will bring it to us in two weeks for us to sign. What about you and your contract?" Asked Edward.

"I plan on getting Miss Nelson to sign it at the party this Saturday".

"How nice but don't push her too far. Who knows what that girl might accidentally do".

"Well she's nothing I can't handle. Also how was dinner with Lisa and your feelings for her?"

"What?!"

Edward jumped back as his cheeks tinted red. "I've been friends with you since kindergarten. I can tell when my best friend is in love although... Isn't this your first time liking someone besides the kindergarten teacher", smiled Philip.

"You-".

"Don't worry I'll show you the ropes on how to woo a lady". Philip put his arm around Edward and showed a big smile. "Come on let's go see her now".

"Wait-". And soon Edward found himself in the library with Lisa sitting there reading a new book.

Edward eventually calmed down from the run Philip gave him and said, "wait, let's talk about all of this first with just us too",

"So that run was for nothing", replied Philip innocently.

"It would have never happened if you just let me finish speaking first instead of interrupting m-".

"Edward are you okay. You don't look good", said Lisa while touching his face.

"L-lisa. A-all is fine. Philip took something of mine and I wanted to get it back", replied Edward.

"Oh, is that so", smiled Lisa.

"Yes..."

"Well hope you get it back". Lisa returned back to her seat and continued reading as Philip's shoulders shook.

"I don't think the running is the only thing making you red", laughed Philip while patting Edward on the back.

"Tsk. Let's just go", muttered Edward while a hand covered his face.

Edward and Philip made their way to where they normally discuss things, the abandoned shed at the back of the school.

"So..." Said Philip as he looked at Edward.

"I will be honest. I think I might like her", said Edward shyly.

"What do you mean by "think". Do you feel happy when she is with you?"

"...Yes".

"Do you with you could snatch her away?"

"... Sometimes".

"Does she sometimes make your heart pound and make you think thoughts you normally wouldn't have".

"... Yes".

"You're in love my friend. You're in love". 'And after only two days too. I'm impressed Miss Tael', Thought Philip.

"So this is what the feeling is like... It's painful".

"What?"

"I really want to... Be with her right now".

"How in the world do you write love stories with out knowing what love is like".

"I don't know".

Philip sighed and said, "Brittany should be arriving here soon. Although remember. Not only is Lisa smart she is also beautiful and kind. With her ranking and friends and with us talking to her she is also powerful. She has many admirers. One of them is even a close friend of hers. You better make your move soon". With that Philip exited the shed as Edward sat there contemplating.

'Well I guess it is time for me to do what the men in my stories do', thought Edward as he walked towards the library.

It was 9:30 am and Lisa continued to read as she heard the whispers around her.

"Look, it's Lisa Tael".

"So the rumors are true. She is a beauty".

"Aren't all of her close friends in the top ten?"

"Yes and they're also quite powerful outside of school too".

"Isn't that the same with her too".

"Sophie's and Lisa's careers are only known to very few. I wonder what they do?"

"Sophie's is obviously art. Lisa... She's a tough case although her family is very successful. Her mother was 1st place on the intellect leader board for two years running when she came here. Her brother has been 1st at everything since he was 13 and her father has a high position in that giant stationary company which is owned by McMillan Enterprise".

"So she isn't a normal scholarship student".

"I guess no".

"Well anyway should we go talk to her".

"Maybe not since Edward is currently the one talking to her".

"What-".

"Hey Lisa", waved Edward as he sat next to her.

"Are you feeling better?" Asked Lisa with her mask showing a concerned expression.

'Ah. Right there is more people around so she's pretending to be concerned... Wait she's pretending!' Thought Edward.

Edward collected himself together and replied with, "yes I am feeling better now. Thank you for your concern".

"It seems you haven't been feeling well since the first day of school. If you're not feeling well you should really head home".

"I will be fine. Anyway-".

"Hey Lisa", smiled Brian as he stole Lisa's attention from Edward.

This time she showed a genuine smile and said, "Hi Brian. Where are the others?"

"They're helping Mr Hobson out".

"I see", smiled Lisa wryly. "I guess you were able to escape in time".

"Yes".

"Ah. Well I guess I will let you go for not telling me about Mr Hobson's tradition. The others, we've been friends for longer so for them to not tell me is just. I don't know, bad? Anyway it seems karma got them".

Brian chuckled and soon noticed Edward's presence. "Well good morning Edward. How is your morning so far?" Asked Brian who learned how to fake smile from Lisa. [AN: Has Lisa been caught?!]

"It has been quite nice. I have been feeling a little bit ill but I am alright", replied Edward.

While he may not be able to hide his feelings for Lisa well when around close friends and family, he is very good at acting when it comes to different things.

"How about you Mr Greenwood. How has your day been?"

"It has been very nice. The flowers seem to be blooming beautifully today as well".

"That's great. Anyway Lisa we are going shopping together after school with our mothers right".

Lisa showed a bitter smile but quickly hid it, "indeed we are".

"Wait what", said Brian with shock.

Edward showed a wicked smile and said, "our families are quite close so our mothers invited us to go shopping and have lunch with them after school".

"How nice. I hope you two enjoy the trip", smiled Brian, but his eyes weren't.

Lisa cleared her throat and said, "anyway Brian let's go see how the others are going from a far distance. Goodbye Edward".

"Goodbye", replied Edward with a hint of sadness in his voice.

Since on Wednesdays they finished after period 3; the school day went by quickly. Eventually school finished and Lisa made her way to the entrance to get picked up by her mother, but her mother wasn't the only one picking her up.

"Hi mum!" Smiled Lisa as she ran up to Christine and hugged her.

"Hello Lisa. I am Juliet Avington. Edward's mother", smiled Juliet.

"It is a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you", responded Lisa.

"Oh come on dear. There is no need to be so formal with me. After all your mother and I are childhood friends".

"What?!" Lisa looked at her mother with a 'why did you lie to me' face.

"Thought it might give you too much of a shock", replied Christine while looking at Juliet with a 'why did you tell her face'.

"Good afternoon mother and Mrs Tael", said Edward.

"Perfect! Everyone is here so let's head somewhere to eat first then start our shopping!" Smiled Juliet.

Everyone got into the car where Juliet asked, "so where should we have lunch".

"How about that 1800s European styled restaurant", suggested Edward who was sitting at the front.

"Perfect. Lisa and Christie likes vintage restaurants right?" Asked Juliet.

"I don't mind what restaurant we go to, but Lisa loves vintage places", answered Christine.

"Perfect! My son knows the perfect place to dine for every lady", smiled Juliet as she tried to show some good points for Edward who researched the night before.

"Right..." Said Lisa at Edward's and Juliet's suspicious behavior.

'Julie that was way too obvious', sighed Christine in her mind.
