Chapter 32 - 32: The Suspicions On The Hobsons'

"Lisa, Lisa, Lisa..."

"Who's there?" Mumbled a half asleep Lisa.

"Lisa, I love you".

"What the?!"

In the cold, dark room Lisa sat up with a fright as she realised she was just dreaming. 'But for me to have such a dream... I need to wash away these thoughts', thought Lisa who soon took a cold morning shower.

Her thoughts were in disarray as she stared at the clock and realised the time was 4am in the morning, but it was too late to go back to sleep now. She couldn't do anything else except stare at the dark sky while trying to organise mind. She should be thinking of her next plans, school, her book, and so much more, but all of it was pushed to the back of brain while other thoughts ran wild.

To clear her head she decided to go through on a morning run while listening to the sound of the wind brushing through the trees which always seemed to cool her down. She would be completely calm if it wasn't for the chill on her neck which was definitely not from the wind. Then while she was jogging she heard a sudden loud rustle in a bush nearby.

Curiosity got the best of her as she slowly stepped towards the bush, but before she could touch it she felt a presence behind her. Lisa quickly turned around, ready to fight, but froze when she saw the familiar face.

"Brian? What are you doing here?" Asked Lisa incredulously.

"I was staying at a friend's place near here last night, since his place is close to a forest which contains a large amount of the plant I am currently researching", said Brian innocently.

"Is that so... Ah well it's a nice morning..."

"Yeah..."

Awkward silence followed. Lisa felt like she should be happy because she was able to talk to a friend at this time, but she felt uncomfortable for some reason. Then she remembered the bush, so she quickly turned to it, and looked through it to find nothing, except for bits of grass strategically scattered on the ground. She moved the bits of grass away to see they were covering up a set of footprints which seemed like they belonged to a young child.

"What the..." Said Lisa in confusion.

"Maybe it's a child playing hide seek", said Brian while looking over Lisa's shoulder.

"At this time of day?"

"... A child pretending to run away?"

"But for them to be so sneaky...."

"A really smart child?" Asked Brian as he got closer to Lisa.

"I'm going to go back to my place. I'll see you at school..." Said Lisa before running off in the opposite direction of the apartment complex.

'Is the Moore family already onto me... Unless... The kiss! But the footprints look like they belong to a small child, and how do reporters already know my whereabouts?' Thought Lisa when a black car parked next to her.

Lisa stopped in her tracks upon seeing the familiar car, and realised that it belonged to the Avington Family. "Zack, what are you doing here?" Asked Lisa.

"Edward is being a terrible boss, I am tired, so please for my sake just get into the car, we're friends right?" Said Zack.

'.... The male lead supporting character' Thought Lisa as she got into the car.

"Edward-".

"Lisa I missed you", said Edward while pulling Lisa into the car and into an embrace.

"E-Edward-".

"Come on there's people following you", whispered Edward as the car door closed.

"Edward, what is going on? Why are you doing this?" Questioned Lisa.

"We discovered that somehow a reporter was able to find out which suburb you lived in".

"Already? Then why did you come at 4:30 in the morning to pick me up? You could have just texted".

"Well, I just felt it was best if I dropped you off at your parents place right now and... I also wanted to see you", said Edward with a bright charismatic, sparkling, magnificent, blah, blah, blah face.

"Did you swallow a special pill or something?"

"No".

"How many hours of sleep did you get?"

"My normal amount".

"Then how are you so charismatic this early in the morning?"

"Do I look like that good in your eyes?" Questioned Edward with a mischievous smile.

-Somewhere unknown-

"You're lucky you have the body of a child otherwise you would've been fired long ago. The only reason no one has suspected you yet is because everyone thinks you're under 15", snarled a deep voice.

"Sorry sir. I will do better next time", said another much more lighter voice.

"Next time? You'll be lucky if we get a next time. We typically don't report on mindless teenage drama, but this time a special person put in a large donation just for one article, which doesn't even have to be on the front cover! Thanks to you we've lost such a big chance for extra cash".

"But sir, doesn't accepting his offer break our company's morals?"

"Morals? This will never affect the company's image as long as no one else finds out about it. Unless you're thinking of betraying us?"

"O-of course not sir!"

"Then think of a way to explain this failure to that kid. That brat is definitely not going to be happy when he finds out about this. His image is the same as this company's, remember that when writing the apology".

-At school-

The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, but for Lisa, she wished she could burn the school down and everyone in it.

The greenhouse at the back of the school was the only place she could seek refugee from the bombardment of questions about her and Edward's relationship, after the clip of them kissing from last night was posted online in an article.

'Why did I do this? Why did I chose some of the most stupid decisions ever? My life is not a soap opera!' Thought Lisa.

[AN: Girl your life is definitely a soap opera]

"Well good morning Lisa. It is surprising to see you hear without Brian, but I guess things are quite chaotic for you at the moment", smiled Mr Hobson as he entered the building.

"Good morning Mr Hobson... This doesn't affect the school... Too much right?" Asked Lisa with a guilty face.

"Hmm I wonder. The paparazzi and them invading the school's and students' privacy is quite, annoying".

"I deeply apologise for the trouble I have caused. Especially with the scandal of Katerina too. There must be a lot of work and trouble for the staff at Wellington Rosalyn College right now".

"Indeed there is. However you should not solely take the blame. After all it is also partly Edward's fault, and it's... Not your fault that Katerina was exposed. Not only that, and if Katerina and her parents restrained her from doing such acts, she would have never been in that situation at all".

"Katerina is in England now isn't she".

"Indeed. It seems she is getting reeducation from her grandparents on the maternal side".

"I see. But should you be telling me this Mr Hobson?"

"It should be alright. Oh also this should be the perfect time to ask you a few questions", smiled Mr Hobson with a face that could make a lady swoon.

Lisa held back the urge to make a 'wtf' face as she said, "Sure as long as it's not too personal".

"Then let's start with the question, what do you think of Brittany?" Questioned Brodie.

"Well I think she is a very cute girl who has a lot of potential. Sure she was not able to become class representative, but she would've been able to if it was not for the prejudice against her. She's quite pitiful when you think of the way she is treated".

"Indeed. It is incredibly upsetting when people use her for their entertainment. An example of this is when two of her own classmates wrote a fake love letter to her, pretending it was from Albert Prezlin, causing quite the commotion. It definitely entertained many students though, and gave Brittany more of the image of a pitiful heroine to some certain people", said Brodie with a slightly taunting voice.

"Are you perhaps trying to accuse Philip Lockwood of something?" Asked Lisa with an innocent look on her face.

"No not at all, well actually similar but about someone else".

"Mr Hobson I do not intend to teach or lecture you about anything, but you probably should not gossip about anyone as a teacher. It would create another scandal about one of the people in Wellington Rosalyn College".

"Do not worry. I already have everything planned out", said Brodie with a large smile but dead eyes. "Now for the second question-".

"Mr Hobson! There you are! We need your help with something!" Shouted a student who was outside of the greenhouse.

"It seems our conversation was ended short. You should probably help them out", smiled Lisa with slightly taunting eyes.

"It seems you and I think the same", added Mr Hobson as he headed towards the students waiting outside.

'He is most likely onto me. He definitely is the one and only Brodie Hobson who can discover me so fast. But from seeing his behavior it seems he isn't completely sure with questions which suggest not too much or little', thought Lisa who then felt someone embrace her from behind.

"L-L-Lisa", whimpered a voice which belonged to-.

"Brian! What's wrong?!" Asked a shocked and confused Lisa.

"T-this m-morning. When y-you left I decided to investigate a little and... I f-found a camera... But when I picked it up I... was a-assaulted".

Lisa turned around to see a bruise and cut on Brian's face. His uniform was all roughed up and there was dirt everywhere on his body including his hair. "Do you think you offended the owner of the camera somehow when he came back to get it, for you to be so roughed up like this?" Asked Lisa with a worried look.

"I, I don't think I did anything bad. All I did was just pick it up when a person wearing a mask came up from behind and started to beat me up", whimpered Brian.

"It's alright Brian, I am here for you", said Lisa as she parted from Brian and patted his head.

'Wait, he said he was assaulted after he met me this morning. So why is his uniform dirty? Also isn't he an important member of the Greenwood family? How could his family or driver let him go to school in such condition? If they have seen this they probably would've started investigating right away before the culprit cleaned up the crime scene. But Brian seems so genuine and truly scared right now, but if Sophie's theory is true and that he is cousins with Mr Hobson then he should be capable of hiding his true emotions well, even from me,' thought Lisa.

"We should get you cleaned up and have you go back home to tell your family, so you can file a report to the police", smiled Lisa as she started to try and get the dirt off Brian's uniform.

'It seems the dirt wasn't simply sprinkled on so there's a chance he might have actually been assaulted... But I do not remember seeing him in the uniform this morning and.... Just why is this happening?!' Thought Lisa who thought she was showing a worried look, but when Brian looked at her eyes he could see curiosity and suspicion.

'F**k, I made a rookie mistake', thought Brian.

"Lisa, could please stay with me for the rest of the day? You're the one who makes me feel safe", said Brian who hugged Lisa again with teary eyes.

"I-".

"You don't have to worry about attendance. Just please stay with me, I don't want to annoy my parents".

"How would your parents be annoyed at you with this? They probably would want to stay with you all day if they knew about this".

"But my parents had to rush overseas for an emergency though, and my brother is very busy right now. I don't want them to have to come back home just for me".

"Brian..."

Lisa felt a sense of foreboding with Brian's request. However at the same time she had an urge to find out more about this boy who could perhaps be someone different from the image he shows her. Lisa's curiosity got the best of her as she said, "Okay".

As long as she was wary and careful she should be fine. Lisa reassured herself as she got into a car with Brian. She was surprised to see that the driver was not shocked by Brian's appearance, but he was the one who drove Brian to school after all, yet did nothing to stop him from entering the school in that condition.

Perhaps Brian persuaded the driver, but if so... 'He was aware of the fact that he looked terrible, and earlier he did say he was staying at friend's place so maybe he didn't go back to his house afterwards. He did say he didn't want to worry his family, but if we are to go to his house now then surely the people there would notice his appearance'. Lisa's thoughts and suspicions occupied her mind, making her forget about Edward and what happened earlier.

Soon the car arrived at Brian's home.

"Wow that was fast", said Lisa.

"My home is close to WRC", smiled Brian.

They got out of the car, and made their way to the entrance of the large home when the doors suddenly opened, and out came an old woman with a worried look.

"Brian are you alright? What happened?" Asked the woman as she took a closer look at Brian's appearance.

"I-it's a long story... B-but, could you please not t-tell my family about this", whimpered Brian.

"What do you mean? We must tell you family immediately, and your brother is home too".

"He is?"

"Yes. Your elder brother finished his project early and is now resting at home. Did someone bully you? If so we must report to the school this instant".

"B-but I don't want to worry anyone".

"You are not worrying anyone. Come on let's go inside, and who is she?" Asked the woman while looking at Lisa.

"My name is Lisa Tael. I am Brian's classmate", answered Lisa.

"Oh I see. My name is Matilda Newman, and I am the housekeeper", smiled Matilda.

"I asked Lisa is she could stay with me for today since I feel better with her", said Brian.

"I see. Come inside you two and let's get Brian cleaned up", smiled Matilda.

Lisa waited in a large living room while Brian went upstairs and got changed. His house looked quite modern and new with very stylish furniture and the latest technology. The home has three floors apparently; the underground level, ground level and first level. While the house is incredibly large, and probably worth millions of dollars, it looks modest when compared to the homes of the Lockwood and Avington Family.

'The couch I'm sitting on is probably worth more than my apartment, but it's so nice and soft. I feel like I could sleep on here', thought Lisa while she looked around more from where she was sitting.

"So it seems my younger brother has brought a girl home".

Lisa turned to the direction where the voice came from, and saw a person who looked like the larger version of Brian without the silver hair. "Are you Brian's elder brother William?" Asked Lisa even though she already knew the answer.

"Yes. And you are?" Replied William.

"I am Lisa Tael, Brian's classmate", answered Lisa.

"Indeed you are. My younger brother has said a lot about you".

"Really?" Said Lisa with shock.

"Well he does not have that many friends. When he does he talks a lot about them. A lot".

"Is that so..."

"Anyway could you please explain the situation to me", said William.

"Well, Brian said he didn't want to trouble you".

"I am his brother. I must be troubled if something happens to him".

And so Lisa started to tell William about her encounter with Brian this morning, and what Brian told Lisa at school.

"It seems he is up to no good again", sighed William.

"Who?" Asked Lisa.

"A troublesome person", answered William who then got up and left Lisa alone.

-William's POV-

I can not believe that boy is going this far for that girl again. It seems her entering Wellington Rosalyn College has made the boy even more reckless.

I barged into Brian's room to see him sitting on his bed with a smile.

"Well good morning elder brother. Congrats for finishing your project early", smiled Brian with his normal and natural expression.

"Brian Greenwood. I thought you said you would leave the past alone and not continue to pursue such troublesome affairs", I said with a stern voice.

"And who are you to control what I do? If it weren't for me younger sis would've had a much more slow and painful-".

"Do not push your limits. I will let go of it for today, but if I see or hear of any trouble like this coming from you again, there will be severe consequences".

"We'll see about that".

I clenched my fists and tried my best to calm my nerves while I exited the room. I have no idea how someone like him was created in my family, but the DNA tests show that he is definitely mother's and father's child.

While I walk past the living room I see the girl Lisa again. She looks innocent but I can tell she suspects Brian. After what I saw of her last year she is not the type to be easily fooled, but even then the Hobson family blood still runs strong through me, so I too will not be so easily fooled either.
