If she had a choice, Lu Xinyi wouldn't step in that place again. She would rather stay at home and be lazy while waiting for her husband to come home—than see those people again.

Did she really have to face them?

Lu Xinyi turned her new car to the right and found a vacant spot to park it. While she insisted to her husband that she didn't want a car of her own, he still gave her one of his latest cars in their garage.

If Gong Yijun could see what Shen Yi could provide her, he would surely vomit blood.

She turned off the engine of her car and took off her shades. Surely, she looked better now than before. No, it's not that Shen Yi had started to shower her with gifts and luxurious dresses, but because she felt she wasn't the same person who left on a cruise vacation with her heart in pieces.

She took her black jacket from her passenger seat and stepped outside the car. Making her way out of the parking lot of the mall, her mind remembered the days when she struggled to keep up on her working schedule.

Her phone beeped, making her stop to take it from her pocket. Reading the message, her eyes widened, and she cursed silently.

'Shit. I forgot Xiulan came home last weekend.'

Lu Xinyi scolded herself. It was obvious that she would never hear the end of it from Lu Xiulan. If Shen Yi wasn't distracting her last weekend, she wouldn't have forgotten about meeting her cousin.

Forget about the sea witch and the bitch, she would deal with them later. It was still early, and she really didn't want to ruin her day by looking at their ugly faces. For now, she must pacify Lu Xiulan's anger, or else she might do something stupid again.

Lu Xinyi quickly replied to her cousin, telling her to meet her at the Fluffy Bites Cafe where they usually hang out.

---

Lu Xinyi entered the cafe. She checked the message on her phone and looked for Lu Xiulan. She found her cousin only after she turned around the corner.

"LU XINYI! Where the hell were you last weekend? You made me wait for too long, and you never picked up my calls!" Lu Xiulan complained as Lu Xinyi took the empty seat across her cousin's.

"Sorry, Xiulan. I was really busy I totally forgot that I had to meet you."

Lu Xinyi noticed her cousin's glare and suddenly looked up. Lu Xiulan's dress and serious face made Lu Xinyi wonder why she didn't inherit the same gene that made her cousin pretty. She always felt too simple, too boring, and too tacky to find the right clothes for her body. These were some of the reasons why she preferred shirts and jeans.

"What could be the possible reason why you forgot about me?" Lu Xiulan asked, indifferently.

"I told you, I was busy. I forgot about the time."

"You? Busy? I highly doubt you were busy." Lu Xiulan frowned.

While she and Lu Xinyi didn't grow up together, she knew her cousin like the back of her hand. Lu Xinyi liked to procrastinate, but she wasn't the one who could forget her appointments and meetings. Unless…

"Xinyi, did you really break up with him?"

Lu Xinyi ordered a large cup of her favorite oreo milk tea before her gaze returned to Lu Xiulan.

"I broke up with him," she said nonchalantly, "I walked in on him with Meng Jiao in an intimate act on our own bed." Lu Xinyi explained.

"Ouch," Lu Xiulan winced, Lu Xinyi nodded. "But you don't look like you are heartbroken at all."

Lu Xinyi shrugged, and the waitress came and served her milk tea at their table.

"I realized it wasn't that kind of love that I was waiting for. It was more like a love for convenience. We grew up together, we shared a lot of memories, and we got along well. I thought I loved him, but in reality, I was just used to him being around that I refused to see what was really going on," Lu Xinyi muttered.

"Urgh… that sucks."

"We should have really ended it sooner. It only becomes a problem when you're not really happy, and you actually long for a deeper connection. Sadly, yes, maybe that was the real reason why our relationship failed."
