After their breakfast, Shen Yi started working again in his study while his brother took the time to settle and bring over his luggages in one of the available guest rooms. While Shen Yi didn't need to go to work everyday, there were still issues that needed his attention. Lu Xinyi understood his predicament but had set rules on his working hours.

Since their return from his business trip-slash-honeymoon, they both agreed that he would work nine to five from Mondays to Fridays, which was his normal work day. Then every Saturday, it would be nine to noon, and he should have the afternoons off, with Sundays as his day-off. The only exceptions she let him have were the emergency meetings and conferences that he had to attend.

Shen Yi gave into her rules and understood her reasonings. Now that they only had three months left until she goes to Silver Leaf, she wanted to spend most of the time with him. They might not have a child of their own, but family was more important than work.

His lips curled into a smile when his eyes landed on a picture of him and Lu Xinyi on his desk. He wasn't a very sentimental person, but when Xinyi put this picture frame in his study, Shen Yi found it so endearing.

Shen Yi stood up and stretched his arms to relax his stiff muscles from sitting for so long. He walked around the desk, and an envelope caught his eye. He'd received this report from Qiao He when he asked a background check on Lu Xinyi after they got married.

He knew already what was written on it, but he had been putting it off. Lu Xinyi's connection with the Sun family was quite complicated than he expected, but for some reasons, he didn't give a fuck what his family or the Sun family would say about their union.

He went out of his study, and the scent of the searing meat and baked goods from their kitchen assaulted his senses. His nose twitched at the smell of herbs and vegetables. His mouth started to water from hunger. In truth, he was really hungry and couldn't wait for what Lu Xinyi made for lunch.

If he wasn't physically active, he would think that his wife was trying to make him fat from all those delicious cooking she made everyday.

As he stepped down on the living area, their two dogs came running towards him to whine. Something must have happened for these two traitors to seek his help. He knelt down and scratched both of their chins.

"Mallows! Milktea!" Lu Xinyi yelled from the kitchen. She came to the living area, only to find her fur babies trying to hide from her wrath and sitting down on their haunches beside Shen Yi. She was fuming in rage at their dogs.

"Mallows! Milktea! Both of you come here!" She was angry. Shen Yi had only seen his wife truly angry, and this was the first time he was seeing her mad at her precious fur babies. What had they done?

"Stay," he commanded while his wife came walking on their way.

Mallows and Milktea tucked their tails as their new mistress reprimanded them. Lu Xinyi held her favorite shoes that were already beyond recognition and smacked the dogs on their snouts. Mommy Xinyi was really angry.

"Bad dogs!" Smack! "Didn't I told you—you can't chew on my shoes?!"

Both dogs lowered their heads in shame. Lu Xinyi eyed them before turning to the nearest trash bin to throw her favorite shoes.

"Damn it. Those were the last pair I bought with my own money," she mumbled to herself.

Shen Yi arched a brow when he heard what she'd said.

"Dear, you can buy a shoe store and not bother with those shoes anymore. What brand are those shoes? I'm going to call Qiao He to find the same design," he said.

"Darling, you don't understand," Lu Xinyi sighed. "It was special because I used my hard-earned money and saved up just to buy that pair, but I guess they really need to retire now."

Shen Yi watched as his wife took steps upstairs.

"Can you check the one I left on the oven for awhile? I forgot my phone upstairs. I'll be back soon," she said.
