When Lu Xinyi stepped out of the Waxing Salon, she pondered if she should run away from Xiao Lan. This woman was driving her nuts. Xiao Lan told her earlier that after a full body wax, they would have a makeover later. Lu Xinyi couldn't stop the shiver that ran up her spine.

If anyone dared to tell her that having a waxing session, especially a full-body wax, was like a walk in the park, she would kill them.

True, she felt so much better once they stepped out of the salon, knowing that she had gotten rid of all the unwanted hair all over her body. She felt sexier and more confident since they told her she could wear anything she wanted: backless dresses, spaghetti straps—everything felt better with silky-smooth skin. Not that she liked to wear those kinds of clothes, but hey, it was nice to feel one's skin so smooth like a baby.

However, this feeling came with a price. Damn, that waxing session hurt like hell. At least she didn't look like a plucked chicken afterward.

"What's next? Are we done yet?" Lu Xinyi followed Xiao Lan to the other side of the shopping mall. Goodness, how huge could this place be? She was sure she would get lost if she dared take her sight off of Xiao Lan even just for a second.

"We'll go visit a dermatologist to see if we can get proper skincare products for you. Then, we'll go to another salon to give you a makeover," Xiao Lan responded before unlocking her car once they arrived at the parking lot.

Lu Xinyi took a deep breath and shook her head. She couldn't really complain when Xiao Lan was kind enough to help her prepare before the big day. She didn't like to embarrass Shen Yi once she meets Madam Shen.

"Bear with it, Xinyi. I have done the same thing for years. It's hard at first, but you'll get used to it." Xiao Lan gave her a half smile. Poor Xinyi, it must be hard for her to adjust.

"I just don't want to tarnish Shen Yi's name because I did something ridiculous so I agreed." Lu Xinyi looked out of the window and stared at the passing sceneries as they drove along the busy streets of the Capital City.

"Shen Yi said he will introduce you in five days. I assume that he was referring to the annual charity gala that their company will host this week. Xinyi, if you want to be taken seriously, you should know there are things that can ruin your image, whether you like it or not."

"But it's not the right time to tell the world that we're married," Lu Xinyi told her friend, but it sounded like she was reminding herself.

Lu Xinyi's phone rang, and when she picked it up, her mood improved as she saw Shen Yi's name on the screen.

"Wow, you're really calling me. This is new," she said as soon as the connection was established between them.

"It's good, but I'm a little tired," she whined to her husband. Lu Xinyi really wanted to go home, but she couldn't just leave Xiao Lan like that after all the efforts she made for her.

Shen Yi let out a silent laugh on the other side of the line.

"I know you're busy today, but can you add me to your to-do list?"

"Shen Yi! Do you want to be sent to the doghouse again?"

"Of course not! Anything but that!"

Of course, Lu Xinyi knew that he was just teasing her so she would forget her nervousness about her situation. Oh, the things she did for love. She would endure anything just to be with him.

"Only an idiot would dare infuriate his wife like that."

"Well, this idiot loves you so deal with it."

The silence that greeted Shen Yi was so sudden that he had to check his phone if his wife didn't cut the line. Pressing the phone closer to his ear, he heard her faint breathing on the other line.

"Xinyi?" He heard his wife whispered some words that didn't register clearly to him. "What was that? I didn't hear you."

"I said I love you, too, so stop grinning like an idiot and go back to work!"
