LFTMPH Chapter 37-A Beauty In The Tomb Part 2

Translated by Snowfall77

“Hey, little puppet, do you recognize these arrays?”

System: [I Do Not.]

Xia Ge: “Useless and a waste.  I don’t know you.”

System: [……]  Do you think I acknowledge you?!!

Xia Ge stroked her chin: “I have to say though, these arrays in this Lingxi ancestor tomb do seem pretty valuable……oh!”

Eyes brightening, Xia Ge clapped her hands: “Or maybe this could get me the enormous amount of money the ancestor wants to give me?!!”

System: [No……]  You’re clearly delusional!

Examining the walls closer, Xia Ge found that although it looked like there were many of arrays, it was actually a set of 3 arrays, just repeated over and over again.

“When we get back, I gotta check the books,” Xia Ge stroked her chin, “Any kind of array found in the Lingxi ancestor’s tomb has to be powerful and worth a fortune.”

System: [Aren’t Arrays In Tombs Usually Used To Ensure The Departed Soul Peace?]

Xia Ge wasn’t about to let reality intrude on her fantasies: “No, and shut the fuck up!  I’m going to consider these as some unknown divine array.”

System: [……]  Whatever makes you happy.

“In the novel, that’s how things like this were talked about.”  Xia Ge started walking again, grip firm on her sickle, and trying to convince the system that she’d happened upon an array goldmine, “Just because Ye Ze is the protagonist, that doesn’t mean I can’t get lucky too……”

Wah, waaah, waaaa…….

Xia Ge’s words ceased.

The thin, choked sound of someone sobbing was coming from the far end of the stone passage

“……what.”

System: [……]

Lucky Xia Ge’s tone was stiff: “……did you hear that just now?”

The system decided to remain calm: [No, I Don’t Think So.]

Xia Ge mimicked the system’s composure: “I also…”

Wah, wah, waaaaaaaaa……

Xia Ge’s ‘I also didn’t hear anything’ was left unsaid and goosebumps covered her whole body.  Trembling, she went to hold onto Guilongyu for security, but the dragon jade was not where it should have been—–

She belatedly recalled how, after her fight with the demon puppet, she’d never actually retrieved Guilongyu.  The lost deer had come……

Cold sweat trickled down Xia Ge’s back.

“……little puppet……little puppet, I think we should return the way we came……”

Now the system was riled: [Did You Really Expect To Go Running Around In A Tomb And Not Encounter Any Ghosts?  Where’s Your Head At?!]

Xia Ge: “It should be different with this tomb, cause this isn’t the tomb of a stranger, it’s the tomb of my Lingxi ancestor!!”

System: [Your Ancestor?!  Who’s Your Ancestor?!  Just Admit That You’re Scared Shitless!!!]

Xia stayed frozen for a minute.

She wasn’t afraid of her Lingxi ancestors, but she was deeply frightened of ghosts!  And that included ancestor ghosts, ok?!!

When the trees are deep, I see deer……when tombs are deep, I see a ghost……

System: [Returning The Way You Came Is Impossible.  The Puppet Beasts Are Currently Blocking The Way, Do You Think You Can Defeat Them?  And Even If You Did Defeat Them, There Is Still No Way Out.]

Another faint sob sounded from the far end of the passage.

Xia Ge screwed up her courage, and full of sacrificial spirit, declared: “If I don’t go to hell, who goes to hell?  Little puppet, forward we go!

System: [……Why Are Your Legs Trembling? ]

Xia Ge: “……”

Her feet heavy, Xia Ge continued walking, feeling that the stone passage was interminably long.

After rounding a curve, Xia Ge arrived at a second chamber.  There she spotted the source of the sobbing at a glance.

The female crier looked like something out of a fantasy, her dreaminess leaving Xia Ge momentarily dumbstruck.

Bright night pearls illuminated the chamber, in which there was a woman dressed in ornate, fiery red robes, wide sleeves partially obscuring her face.  Long, thick black hair was pulled back with a red ribbon, a few strands cascading down over her shoulders.  A golden dian gleamed on her forehead, over exquisite eyebrows, and the corners of her eyes were wet with tears.  She covered her mouth with a red sleeve while she sobbed, her body lying in front of the next stone passage on the other side of the chamber.  Wearing what appeared to be a wedding dress, she was beautiful like a demon.

Yet apparently she sensed someone’s presence.  She raised her long, narrow eyes, full of tears and a combination of charm and panic: “Who?  ———Where has this young man come from?”

You are a beauty, lady, but this is a tomb.  Do you really think it’s an appropriate place to wear wedding clothes?

Wait, no……that was beside the point.

Hands shaking, Xia Ge pointed her sickle at the lady, saying in a rush: “You, you, you……are you living or a ghost?”

Seemingly terrified of the sickle, the lady slightly shuddered, a teardrop dropping from one long beautiful eye: “Honored sir, why have you brought a blade to meet with this lowly servant?”

“……”

Well, if one doesn’t know whether you’re one of the living or a ghost, what’s more likely?  Greeting you with a blade or greeting you as a sister?

“Young man, young man, please don’t misunderstand, I am not a ghost.”  The beauty sniffled, “This servant was a bride-to-be in the town of Mojia.  But then I dreamt of a deer wearing blue plum blossoms, and when I woke up, I was here.”

……Mojia?  Blue deer?  Deer?  Lost deer?

“Young man, am I still dreaming?  What is this place, where are we?”

The beauty stood up, her fiery red wedding dress slowly shifting with her movements, and her eyes widened, pitch-black inkiness reflecting the glow of the night pearls, innocent and demonic at the same time.  She tried taking a step towards Xia Ge, however Xia Ge jumped back like she’d just been hit with an electrical shock: “You, you, don’t come any closer!!  You……stay there, stand right there!!  I’m telling you, don’t try to get any closer, or I will strike you!”

The beauty appeared saddened.  She stayed motionless, her black eyes full of tears: “Don’t be afraid, young man, I am not a ghost or evil spirit.”

Right, cause if you say you’re not a spirit, it must mean you’re not?  You say you’re from the village of Mojia, but are you really?  You were brought here by a deer, what deer?  If you also said you were the Lingxi ancestor in a previous life, would that consequently make it true?!

“I don’t go to hell” is a Buddhist term, the whole sentence is “I don’t go to hell, who goes to hell?” This sentence means “to sacrifice oneself for others”. It expresses a spirit of daring to sacrifice for others, a spirit of benefiting the people, and a spirit of bravery and diligence, saving people’s hearts, and transforming the social atmosphere.

This sentence comes from a Buddhist story, which is the words of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, which means “if I can save more people by sacrificing myself, I would rather sacrifice myself”,

poem by Li Bai, the original text is “When the tree is deep, I see a deer“.

“A Visit to Dai Tianshan, a Taoist Priest,” is as follows:

In the sound of dogs barking and water, the peach blossoms are thick with dew.

When the tree is deep, I see deer, but the stream does not hear the bell at noon.

Wild bamboos are divided into green haze, and Feiquan hangs Bifeng.

No one knows where to go, worry leaning on two or three loose.
