Love Is So Sweet

Chapter 5 - Critic

Karla was truly surprised to see Lisa act like this. Usually, when facing strangers she acts extremely wary. Even the first time Karla met Lisa it was hard for her to even talk. Still, if you look at it in another way that means Lisa has improved so much from that time. Even the way she talks has improved greatly, as opposed to her former self that only answered with a nod of her head or shaking it.

Jun, on the other hand, felt a bit differently compared to Karla. Obviously, this was because this was the first time he ever met Lisa and had no knowledge of how hard it was to talk to her before. All he could think of at this moment was how attractive her smile was. Jun was feeling weird as to why he keeps on thinking that this girl was cute. The way she switches from cold to embarrassed was great and all, but it wasn't supposed to have this great of an effect on him.

'Well she is just right in the middle of my strike zone, I'll give her that. Never mind I'll just see where this goes, we are going to be working together for quite some time. I'll use that chance to get to know her better.'

While the two people were thinking of such things, Lisa herself was getting pretty excited. Even though she usually didn't act this way in front of strangers, or people she just came to know, Lisa was too happy to be bothered too much by this detail. Moments ago she was bracing herself to be scolded by the editor in chief, but now she didn't need to worry about that.

She was also excited to hear Jun's opinion about her new work. Although Lisa does have paranoia and anxiety problems, she also loves writing. She likes knowing people's feelings about her work, be it bad or good. Her passion for writing trumps her fears and pushes them into the gutter. Though this state only lasts for a short time.

"So what do you think?" Lisa asked Jun hungry to learn of his opinion. This was an unexpected turn of events, that made Jun unsure what to do. Even though he was still smiling that cool good looking smile of his, in his head he was confused. What happened to that overly shy girl, when was she replaced by this passionate girl?

Karla who already knew of this quirk of Lisa's could only wryly smile as she continued to be an audience for the play happening in front of her eyes.

"Was it that bad, that you're unable to talk about it?" Lisa sounded a bit disappointed as she said this while looking at Jun with upturned eyes, which made her look like a begging puppy. That was what she looked and sounded like on the outside, but on the inside, she was merely contemplating what parts of the novel had she done wrong.

Of course, Karla understood this quirk of hers, but Jun who was just experiencing it right now was misunderstanding the situation. In his head he found even Lisa's sad face to be quite cute, but that wasn't important. What was important was that Lisa misinterpreted his silence, he was simply shocked by the change of her personality.

"That's not it!" Jun suddenly shouted which not only surprised Lisa and Karla but the people around them. Noticing what he has done, Jun apologized to the surrounding people. This was the second time their group caught the attention of the people eating in the cafeteria.

Karla was about to suggest that they should change locations but was unable to say anything since Jun spoke first.

"Ahem, sorry about that. I just want to say that you misunderstood Ms. Lisa." Jun then showed a gentle smile before continuing what he wanted to say. "I think your novel has great potential. The setting was very detailed since the city the characters lived in was this city correct." Lisa simply nodded her head as an answer while urging Jun to go on.

"Aside from the very detailed descriptions of the places and the people surrounding the main characters, the plot itself was what drew me in. It kept me wanting to learn more about what will happen next. Unfortunately, the interactions between characters were too bland, making the truly interesting plot lose some of its wonders. Also, the lack of character development as the story advanced was a minus. I think you were trying to have some character development at some parts of the novel, but because of the robotic way your characters portrayed themselves and interacted with each other and their environment, making it confusing if they really were going through some sort of character development. Overall the story and your detailed type of writing are good but the characters in the story are unbelievable and bland. It makes it truly obvious that this is your first time writing a romance novel."

When Jun was done with his initial assessment, he finally noticed what he had done. 'Crap!' He wasn't really planning to berate her like this and was only going to say some positive feedback and tell her she can improve some more. That's what he planned to do, but he got to into it that he forgot to put some brakes.

Jun slowly peeked at Lisa's expression, hoping that the damage he did wasn't too severe. Yet the moment he looked at her expression, what he saw surprised him.
