Loving With My Mind

Chapter 21 - Make Sure to Charge Them

After preparing the platform for the cake, he connected the dowels for the base tier.

Then, Zhao Mingzhe went over to his wife's workstation.

She just finished baking her cakes. They were set aside to cool.

She mixed some syrup from her blueberry compote into her lemon buttercream filling. She was folding the mixture when he approached.

Sensing his presence, she took a small taster spoon, scooped some of the filling and shoved it into his gaping mouth which was about to say something.

"Try this." she said, without taking objections.

Well, the spoon was already in his mouth. It was futile to refuse.

"Hmmm...it's sour?" Zhao Mingzhe remarked as he pulled out the empty spoon from his mouth. He was a bit confused as he was expecting an icing to be sweet.

Han Yixin frowned. She went over her cakes and trimmed off the top uneven surface from the smallest tier. Then she smeared some of the cream from her spatula and some of the blueberry compote from the still warm pot onto the half of the trimming. She then flipped over the other half of the trimming over the fruit and cream to mimick a sandwich.

She presented him the new dessert crudely. "Now try this."

He dodged by moving a step back. Then he took the sandwich from her hand, careful not to drop the fillings.

Zhao Mingzhe took a huge bite, making sure he can taste all the ingredients she put together.

Han Yixin waited patiently for the verdict as he had his pokerface on.

He frowned.

She had her eyes wide. Was it bad? Did the combination of flavors repel each other?

Seeing her weird expression, he spoke. "Are you trying to fatten me up?"

With that, both her brows shot up in an instant and her face lit up. "It's good?" she confirmed.

Zhao Mingzhe took another bite and smiled with his cheeks puffed with the cake.

Suddenly, he leaned in and kissed her, feeding her with his mouthful bite.

Han Yixin tried to push him away and avoid his shoving tongue, with no success.

However, in the middle of their intimate interaction, she went back to work mode as she tasted the combination of flavors. Her face turned serious as she evaluated her work personally, forgetting another flavor thrown in--his saliva.

To Zhao Mingzhe, on the other hand, he knew he got away with it when he saw her judging the taste of her own work.

He smiled a wide grin as he broke off the kiss.

She was still chewing and tasting everything while he finished off his sandwich cake.

"So, are we done tasting?" Zhao Mingzhe asked when she was left in a daze.

"Huh?" Han Yixin snapped out of it and looked back at him.

"What? You wanna taste me again?" he teased.

"You pervert!" she instinctively wiped her lips with her sleeve and went back to continue working.

She took out the macaron cookies which just finished baking.

She had four trays of them, each had a shade of blue, forming a gradient.

She tasted the filling for her macarons and shook her head.

She added sifted sugar into the mixture and turned on the mixer once again.

Then she took edible gold paint and a small brush.

With one sweep, she painted each cookie with a subtle gold accent.

Zhao Mingzhe's eyes were following her figure all throughout. He even forgot to bring his phone back from airplane mode, so he was practically unreacheable.

He looked at his watch as he yawned. Then he frowned.

At this point, Han Yixin was piping the fillings for her macarons.

"Xiao Xin!" he called out.

She was so engrossed into her work that her body even trembled as she was startled.

"Zhao Mingzhe...I'm gonna kill you..." she muttered, pissed that she almost dropped a cookie.

"What?!" she snapped back at him as she bolted into an upright position. She had been bending over when piping all this time.

"Time for dinner." Zhao Mingzhe reminded, standing from his seat, then walking towards her.

She looked up at him as he came close. "Go into the restaurant. Food is great here. Just put it in my tab."

"No." He swiftly reached out to untie her apron and snatched it off. Then he dragged her to the sink and he washed their hands together, rubbing her palms with his.

"Ah Zhe, I still need to..." she tried to reason out.

"Try working without having dinner and I'll be working ON YOU." he threatened.

She blushed. "You wouldn't!" She shook her head.

"Stop doing that. You might get dizzy." he scolded.

Then he grabbed her wrist and dragged her out of her kitchen. "Where's the restaurant?"

.

They navigated through some corridors before arriving to the dining area. Since it was dinner time, most guests dressed up as if there was an occasion.

They seemed a bit out of place, but Zhao Mingzhe's domineering figure prevent anyone from saying anything.

Plus, the waiter immediately recognized Han Yixin.

"Good evening. Oh, Manager Han...you're back?"

"Hello. Is Chef Vetra in tonight?"

"Yes, Manager."

Han Yixin nodded. "Then we'll have the smoked salmon pizza and meat lasagna...then two glasses of sangria."

The waiter did not even get the chance to hand them the menu. He just poured service water into their glasses.

Han Yixin remembered her thirst as she saw the cold water.

When the waiter went to process their order, she started gulping up the contents of the glass.

Zhao Mingzhe was going to tease her on her orders. It was like she was having dinner with her bestfriend, not her husband, since even the liquor is for the ladies.

However, his mood turned sour when he saw that she was probably dehydrated so she finished off the cold water in an instant.

He raised his hand to signal a waiter.

"Yes, Sir. What can I do for you?" the waiter politely and swiftly attended to their table.

"Do you have a carafe for cold water? Bring one to this table." Zhao Mingzhe commanded, as if there would be no way for the restaurant not to have one.

"Right away, Sir." the waiter became more fl.u.s.tered when he saw that the man was sitting across Manager Han. He immediately went to get cold water.

"Drink more." Zhao Mingzhe pushed his glass of water to her side.

"Hey, I might get full from drinking water." Han Yixin complained. She was looking forward to the Italian dishes she just ordered. It would be a shame if she could only eat a few bites.

"It's your fault for working too much and getting dehydrated. You had not gone into the comfort room since we arrived. That means you're really dehydrated." he pointed out.

She recalled and looked guilty. Even he went out to look for the toilet at one time while she was baking. She took his glass of water and drank more.

He looked mad. "I think that Wen couple deserve to be busy with their business instead of putting pressure on my wife." Zhao Mingzhe had a determined expression.

Han Yixin figured out what he mean instantly. "No, don't be petty. It's their wedding...their cake. Besides, I'll make sure to charge them thoroughly." She had a sly smile.

"Oh...you're not that nice after all, are you, my wife?" Zhao Mingzhe became more interested in this strong side of hers.

"Heh, why would you even think that I'm nice?"
