Loving With My Mind

Chapter 30 - Good to be Back

Zhao Mingzhe called for his chauffer in City B right after landing. As he did, he held Oxford using one arm. He held the dog so elegantly, that it looked like his fur coat being held with an arm.

Han Yixin tried to take her dog from him so he could move better. Their luggage are ready to be transferred to the cart.

Zhao Mingzhe figured out what she was trying to do so he handed the dog over and dealt with the luggage.

She held onto her dog, and cuddled it. At this point, the diapers were off and Oxford looked much happier.

"Good morning, CEO!" Every employee in the airport who knew Zhao Mingzhe would stop by to greet him.

He just nodded with a hint of a smile. He is not feeling privileged, but he is just not such a jolly person to begin with.

Han Yixin blinked as she looked over towards his direction. It seemed that her husband has a deeper personality than he was trying to let on.

"Good morning, CEO Zhao." A woman's clear voice rang in greeting.

Han Yixin thought it was just another subordinate and continued petting Oxford, but then she noticed that her husband had stopped on his tracks. She looked towards the source of voice and her eyes widened.

The woman looked like she is from the entertainment circle with her looks, but she had the temperament of a rich heiress.

Zhao Mingzhe was initially shocked to see her, but he pulled himself together, just in time to conceal his reaction from his wife.

He put on his pokerface as he greeted back in his stoic voice, "Good morning, Ms. Mu."

Zhao Mingzhe continued to walk away, as if the person whom he just greeted was like any other subordinate.

Cynthia Mu casually handed her bag over to Han Yixin who was steps behind them. Since Han Yixin took the dog from Zhao Mingzhe, Cynthia Mu thought that she was his new assistant. She even wondered since when did he have a dog which he would even take with him abroad.

Han Yixin took the bag, unable to say anything, as she watched the beautiful woman catch up to her husband.

She again looked at herself and felt inferior in every way.

Cynthia Mu strode to keep up with his pace. She tried to strike a conversation with him.

"Hey, I didn't know you went abroad..."

"Yeah, yeah...it's good to be back..." he was brushing her off. Then he stopped as he noticed something. "You had a bag..." he murmured.

Cynthia Mu smiled as he finally stopped to look at her. "What?" her smile became awkward.

"You had a bag awhile back...where..." Zhao Mingzhe looked behind him and his eyes widened to see his wife carrying someone else's bag.

He was mortified. He dashed towards her, took the bag off her hands and toss it backwards, not caring if the woman who owns it could successfully catch it or not.

Cynthia Mu yelped as she dashed to catch her bag. 'What's he doing?! I can't even give my bag to his assistant now?' She was pissed off but she tried not to show it on her face. She flashed an innocent look and asked, "Is there a problem?" She was then clutching her bag.

"Problem? How dare you make her carry your bag?" Zhao Mingzhe was furious. It was as if there was no trace of his feelings towards this woman lingers in his mind.

Cynthia Mu shifted to an aggressive tone and confronted, "Zhao Mingzhe, just because we broke up doesn't mean you can treat me like this in front of your assistant!"

Han Yixin's eyes widened, but she lowered her gaze. She currently did not know where she stands. She might have looked really ordinary to be mistaken as a mere assistant.

Zhao Mingzhe's focus was on his wife. When she lowered her head, he felt as if he was hit in the guts. No one can insult her!

He manuevered himself to wrap his arm around his wife, then faced to glare at his ex.

"Get out of our sight. You're making my wife uncomfortable." his voice sounded angry.

The statement made Han Yixin looked up at him. There were mixed emotions in her eyes, but one of them is joy.

Cynthia Mu's eyes shook when his words rang. She clutched her bag tighter and looked at the woman holding the dog. 'This is the woman he chose to replace her? They must've done magic on her on the wedding day! What did this bitch feed him for him to defend her like this?! Zhao Mingzhe never once told off anyone like this for her sake before!'

"I...I'm sorry for the mistake..." she pretended to be sorry and had an awkward smile.

"How many times do I have to tell you to get out of our sight before you do?" Zhao Mingzhe was not shouting, but his deep voice was threatening.

As if frozen by the icy words, Cynthia Mu stood there, not moving an inch.

Zhao Mingzhe sighed and led his wife to move forward and away.

As they walk past her, Cynthia Mu opened her mouth. "Were you just playing around when you're with me?" She turned her head slightly to follow his figure as tears stream down her cheeks.

Her words stopped Zhao Mingzhe in his tracks.

Han Yixin furrowed her brows as she looked up at him, waiting for his answer too.

He paused, but did not say a word. He took Oxford from his wife and continued to walk away.

He knew he was not playing around when he was in his first relationship. However, he chose not to hurt his wife and feed the ego of his ex. He might not have married for love, but his wife deserves the best of him.

.

He let Oxford roam around the courtyard when they arrived back at their Victorian home.

He then stretched his arms as he remarked, "Ah, it's good to be back!"

Han Yixin immediately went into the kitchen. She did not understand all the feelings she had and their silence during the car ride did not help. She needed to go back into her sanctuary.

She pulled out ingredients from the pantry and fridge and began pan-searing slices of salmon.

She was absent-mindedly adding spices when she felt her husband making his way into the kitchen.

Zhao Mingzhe cleared his throat. "Do you have something to ask me?"

She frowned without looking back at him, her hands continued cooking.

He walked towards her and stopped just behind her. Then he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his head in a crook of her neck.

She shuddered with the sudden intimacy. "Ah Zhe..."

"Hmmn?" he peered at the pan she was holding.

"That's your ex, right?"
