Magical Cosmic

Chapter 46 - The Magus’ Memory and New Hall

Lillie and I went back to the base with the spaceship after having lunch. Some matters still needed Brown to be taken care of, so he didn't follow us back. Regardless, He would be back to the base with the refugees tomorrow.

When we reached the base, I immediately went straight to the Mind Hall. I couldn't hold my curiosity about Magus' memory on magic and the knowledge thereof. The five Magus had since long finished having their minds extracted, so their bodies were being frozen just in case it was useful later.

The moment I entered the Mind Hall, I accessed their memory through the simulation pod. It wasn't that I couldn't access their memory from other places, just that using a simulation pod proved to be more effective and better in transmitting the information.

White space appeared the moment I closed my eyes inside the simulation pod. I was floating away in it before gravity appeared and pulled me to the white ground below. Later, The Magus' memory began emerging from around me in the form of screens.

Not wasting much time to check each one of them, I ordered ATHENA to compile the memory and present me the only important part. It only took a moment before she finished with the compiling. [Compiling completed… Here are the secrets of the Magus that have been compiled, Master~]

Not a second after that was uttered, a transmission of memory got into my brain. Luckily it wasn't a lot and only took me a few seconds to process. Compiled within the memory was only the most important knowledge of magic.

Ah… so this is how magic works? Magic was created from mana in the air and manipulated by the spiritual power in a Magus's body. But differs from qi path where almost everyone can tread upon, only a select few able to master magic.

Nice! There's even a Magus's meditation technique. What they were practicing was called 'Razel Dukedom Basic Meditation Technique'. What a shame, it could only go as far as a 5th Rank Acolyte. Hmm…? What's this? Jeviour Houston is actually the apprentice of the Razel Dukedom's Head Court Magician? Wait, wait, wait! Isn't that bad? He'll take revenge, no?

Moreover, the knowledge inside the book's correct. He's able to destroy a town and even level an army with his spell. On top of that, he has a connection to the Magic Institute of Ralonia. Said to be the real force that controlled the Raivia Union of Nations.

But because of that, Houston has a meditation technique that able to achieve a Magus Rank. It was called 'Black Force Elemental Meditation Technique', a Dark-Elementalist meditation technique. Wait, what's an Elementalist? Are they a branch of a Magus? I don't know.

Hmm… I don't have enough data on magic. Since it was said that different people have different element affinity, it'd be bad if I practice a wrong meditation technique. I must gather more data before practicing magic.

"Shit! I shouldn't have destroyed their bodies earlier… Brainwashing them may bring me more benefits and data." When I was drowned in regret, ATHENA's cheerful emoticon appeared on the HUD of my helmet and gave a solution.

[Master~, there's a hall in the Technology Cube that's able to reconstruct a destroyed body. It was called Biological Hall]

"Eh!? Seriously!? I may need to rummage the Technology Cube later… For now, though, have the robots construct the Biological Hall! Oh, and what about the Interspatial Ring, does the scanner able to access what's inside?"

[No… the way that the Interspatial Ring works differs too much from dimensional storage. But reconstructing the Magus' bodies and made them into conscious-less cyborgs should solve the problem.]

Making them into a brainless cyborg may sound a bit too much… but they didn't seem to have a good record in life. Furthermore, I couldn't just waste this… When this thought came to mind, I just shook my head and kept a calm face.

"One thing for sure, I'll only do this if it's someone that was completely evil… No… evil can't be perceived as it's only something that depends on someone's perspective. Guess, I'll do it to someone that I deem evil." Not minding this anymore, I got out of the simulation pod.

"ATA, prepare some drones to scout the invisible beetle's nest! Find their weakness and make a weapon to counter them! Be sure to keep their carcasses in the best possible condition!" Well, I'll need their carcasses so I cannot use an invasive weapon.

[As you command.]

Afterward, I waited for the completion of the Biological Hall. It was now constructed outside the base — a hidden place not far away. I was trying to move out all the hall from inside the base since it was too crowded. Also, having this place to be the sole place for production was a bad idea either way.

Before long, I could see the newly finished Biological Hall. It was constructed with a factory design, whereas the inside looked like a biological lab with a lot of strange tubes. For example, there was a giant mixer at the side and another device that seemed used to create something out of it — biomass — just like a 3D printer.

Without further ado, I got into the pedestal in the middle of the hall. A holo-list full of all kinds of strange things emerged. I noticed that I could reanimate a lump of meat and even make something called synthetic beast.

"ATHENA, what's a synthetic beast?"

[From the database, it was something constructed from a dead beast and reanimated to other kinds of beast purposely used for battle. As for why it was called synthetic beast, it could also mount a lot of advanced weaponry, Master~]

"Is that so? With the magical beast in this world, won't I be able to make a beast never seen in the world?"

[Yes, Master~! Not only that, there are two options on the synthetic beast, reanimate or hybrid. In a reanimate option, it can resurrect a dead beast and they may grow stronger depending on their potential. But with the current data on magical beast right now, I cannot say for sure.]

Hmm… there's just too many things unknown with magical beast even until now… Wait, if it can reanimate beast, then… No wonder dinosaurs and other extinct animals are living on Earth right now.

"Anyway, just reanimate the five Magus for the time being… Oh, and what will happen to their state of mind? I mean, if I can reanimate or even resurrect a living being, won't I have a machine able to bring back someone alive?

[Something reanimated with Biological Hall wouldn't be someone the same as before. Their minds should be blank and won't be able to think like normal. In the best-case scenario, they may be able to utter a word or two. So, in a sense, it can reanimate someone but not able to resurrect a living being.] ATHENA explained without losing her cheerfulness.

"Ah… so it means that what I'll get at most is just a brain-dead person? Welp, there's no such heaven-defying device without paying a price, after all." I sighed; a bit disappointed.

Just then, five robots came and brought five big tubes filled by the corpses of the five Magus. They had been kept in the freezer all this time, so their condition was good. All the corpses were placed on separate glass-encased large tubes to be reanimated. The process took about an hour since their bodies were badly shaped. Not wasting that time, I waited while practicing the breathing technique.

One hour later, five n.a.k.e.d figures came out from the big tubes. I almost puked the moment I saw them. Swiftly, I had the robots gave them some simple robes to cover their n.a.k.e.d bodies. That's quite bad for my mentality… I'll be sure to wash my eyes later.

After having themselves covered, I approached them and observed them thoroughly. What surprised me was that they were indeed looked like a brain-dead person. Their eyes blank, they were also unable to speak and could only grunt and nod to respond. Luckily, Houston — the gloomy man with a skull staff prior — able to speak some simple language. However, he wasn't acting like himself from the past and didn't have any concrete awareness. It took him a very simple question for it to be answered.

Suddenly, a curious thought flashed upon my mind. I brought out the Universal Measurement Device and used it to Houston. Although I had expected it to be slightly below Warrior on the same rank, the result still shocked, nevertheless. 103? A 5th Rank Acolyte only has 103 points? Just as I expected, magic power couldn't be calculated even with the Universal Measurement Device.

Unexpectedly, ATHENA's comment woke me from my experiment thought, [Master~, by planting subordinate A.I. on their head, they can be controlled and made to act normally.]

"Is that so?" I raised my brow and said, "Then plant the ch.i.p.s into their heads. They'd be useful as an experimental subject as well as a trump card in times of need."

[Of course, it will be done.]

"Now then, I should probably make a stronger type of robot to guard the base. And I still haven't prepared the place for the new refugees yet." With those projects in mind, I came out of the Biological Hall and done the did.
