Chapter 58 - Final Battle Part I

[Host. We will reach the wormhole's surrounding space in 2 minutes.]

"So, we're finally here, huh?"

I scanned through my surrounding ground filled with dead carcasses of creatures from a holo-screen. Strangely enough, the creatures vanished into thin air without leaving anything behind.

Hmm… This Ever-Changeable MRS sure is hard to use. It took me three days to be familiar with using it, despite the enhanced reflex after practicing the knight breathing technique.

"ATHENA, take me out."

[Yes!]

Suddenly, the simulated MRS and even the surrounding space vanished, it was replaced with a glass cover above me. Misty air spread out as the pod cracked open. Indeed, this was all simulated from the simulation pod.

Not wasting any time, I got out of the pod and went to the control room. There, I could see that the spaceship had finally exited the hyperspace. The wormhole was even visible from the ship's holo-screen.

"Heh, is that you, Victor?" Landon glanced at me and said, "It took you long enough to come out from your cave. Hahaha!" Is he trying to be sarcastic?

"Oh, shut it! I don't think that I spent a very long time inside the Virtual Chamber." Now that I think about it, after coming out from the Star Relay, it still took three days to get into Sector 837 even with the new Space Warp engine.

"Anyway, lad, is that a real wormhole? To think that one exists… No, it shouldn't be a surprise for me. But a wormhole is a thing to connect two distant places. Is this what you called 'other universe'?"

As expected, he still hasn't believed my story yet. Although I can prove it by traversing the wormhole, I still have something to do at the pirate space station.

"Yes, it is. You don't need to believe me for now. After settling some matters, I'll prove to you that I wasn't lying." With that said, I controlled the ship to the pirate space station.

Since I had left ATA's copy in the station, nothing urgent happened there. The submissive engineers had finished with the station's construction and were waiting for me. I ordered them to continue maintaining the station and gathering more Golden Stardust and also to make the station self-sufficient.

Since they worked for me, I decided to pay and promise to release them later. Well, I can only promise that to them right now. I could… if I wanted to, use the self-replicating robots to minimize the risk of this being leak. Still, I didn't want to take a risk; but why am I feeling like something amiss?

[Host. Half a month after host had left the station, the remaining Graham's pirates that were out to sell and buy stuff came back to the station. I had moved fast and apprehended them.] ATA suddenly reported. Ah… That's what I forgot.

"Good. For now, get the bad pirates into the ship! As for the morally better one, have the self-replicating robots do some brainwash on them and make them work to maintain the station."

Hmm… Without the Mind Hall, I won't be able to control them; though, brainwashing is enough anyway. As for the possible leak of Golden Stardust… there's not much I can do about it.

Later, I went back to the spaceship after handling all the matters. With a copy of ATA on the station, I was confident that the place would be safe for months or even years without needing me to check.

"This… I get it. I finally get it! Normally, wormhole doesn't have enough negative energy to make a tunnel between two spaces. This wormhole worked kind of the same as Star Relay that used negative energy. However, not only there's an almost unlimited source of negative energy from the Golden Stardust (exotic material), it was overflowing with it. Victor, lad… Do you know what this wormhole actually is?"

"Er… no?" I mean, I understand what he said but…

"Stupid! It means that something like this is simply an impossible possibility. Unless… no, it cannot be…" Landon kept muttering in a low voice, but I decided to ignore him and sat on the captain's chair.

"It doesn't matter whether it was just a mere coincidence or artificially created by someone, I'll show you the 'universe' that I have been talking about." With a smile, I moved the ship to the wormhole.

"NO, WAIT!! I still haven't checked the place's safety. This will be hundreds no, thousands of times more dangerous than traversing the Star Relay like befo—!"

"Just sit and relax! I have traversed this thing twice and still be in one piece."

Out of the blue, something crossed my mind and I activated the speaker on the whole ship. "Dear passenger, we will be going into a wormhole. Please activate your auto chair gravity and holo-seat belt. Oh, and be sure to maintain your consciousness throughout the flight."

"Hey, wait! What do you mean by maintaining your consciousness!? I said wa—"

Just then, the ship got into the inside of the wormhole; thereby, no sounds could be heard.

Razel Army's Perspective

Explosion after explosions were echoed loudly in every part of the battlefield. Dozens of golems were destroyed each time Head Court Magician Arnold cast a spell. Their weapons' projectiles were deflected, they couldn't last even a few seconds in front of him. Wherever he went, destruction followed.

Over time, the shield that protected the wall dimmed by the continuous projectiles from the Magic Cannons. There were cracks all over the wall — caused by the remnant force — and signs of breaking down was beginning to show. It would just be a matter of time for it to be destroyed if nothing were to be done with it.

Is this all of what they are capable of? Sure, the golems have strange weapons, durable, and quite smart. The shield on the wall was very sturdy too, comparable to the one used in a renowned Magic City such as the Dukedom's capital. There's also the wall that despite being made by simple material, could last this long and equip with strange turrets. But did they think that this was enough to stop me?

Head Court Magician Arnold glanced through his army. There were thousands of casualties despite he had acted himself to control the battlefield. Previously, the enemy launched a sneaky strange flying golems and even golem artilleries. If it wasn't for his {Wide Darkness Shield} and Knight Roderic's Aura power that blocked most of them, the army would be as good as dead by now. Some of the knights and the court magicians on the back had even received casualties.

"Still, the Magic Cannons alone won't be enough to destroy the shield. I need to destroy it myself, and by that means that I need time." Head Court Magician Arnold's gaze grew dim as he thought of something.

Without minding that further, he went to the other 100 court magicians on the Magic Cannons site and commanded, "Protect me as I will cast a Great Rank Spell to destroy that wall!"

All of them flinched, swiftly agreeing with a nod. A Great Rank Spell was a spell that only a Great Magus and above could wield. Its power capable to destroy a town and burned down a small army without difficulties. Nevertheless, a quite long casting time was needed for someone at the same rank as the spell.

""Yes!!""

All the court magicians instantly cast a myriad of spells such as {Earth Wall}, {Mana Shield}, {Darkness Shield}, and many other weaker spells. All of them there were at least a 5th Rank Acolyte with ten of them being an official Magus. One could see how powerful these spells combined. Yet, a bad feeling couldn't leave Head Court Magician Arnold's mind.

Boom! Bang!

The enemy's golem artillery launched explosive projectiles to the head court magician as if they knew what he was going to do. The myriad of defensive spells that had been established started to be eroded away.

"Humph… My suspicion is right. Despite those projectiles are equal to a full-blown might of an official Magus, it takes them more than that to penetrate all of this." Head Court Magician Arnold smiled, beginning to chant a spell. Still, I should be careful and set up some spells in precaution.

Shortly later, the Great Rank Spell was ready to be cast. He just needed to chant it in his heart when suddenly something went for his head.

Bang!

The projectiles went through the head court magician's head and still flew fast to don't know where. However, his body dissipated into a shadow of darkness, it was like he was never been there from the start.

"Hah! Did you think I didn't think about this possibility? Taste my Great Rank Spell, {Darkness Vortex}!" Pointing his monster staff into the wall's direction, a wide spell diagram appeared on top of the wall and his staff.

From there, a big darkness cyclone began to form and started to damage the shield. If a mortal was to approach it by accident, they would be instantly devoured without leaving anything behind. Nonetheless, the shield still stood strong and held the pressure despite the constant dimming of it.

"Hmm!? Is it not enough? As expected of something from the past legacy. Court magicians! Cast your most powerful spell on the Magic Cannons! Aim it on the pressure point of my spell!"

""As you command!""

They swiftly started chanting up spells on the Magic Cannons and filled it with magic projectiles. Shortly, magic projectiles were bombarded out and exploded near the spell's pressure point. Despite it missed a little, it was enough to cause a big crack on the shield.

Boom!

Unable to hold the pressure, something exploded inside and the shield vanished. Even the wall on that side was destroyed, leaving a big hole behind. No more turrets that were holding them back were functioning in that part of the wall, giving a chance for the army to march.

"Charge!!" Knight Roderic roared and led the charge with vigor.
