Mahou Project!!

Chapter 19 - 19: Dream

In a scene somewhere where fire and sorrow bathe around a small village, villagers screamed in utter agony, their cries of help and desperation where all but in vain as they were slaughtered mercilessly in every way imaginable.

One young boy, together with his parents witnessed such horrific sight as men clad in black robes and their faces covered with a terrifying skull mask ruthlessly razed the village into the ground without any shred of humanity and hesitation.

"Daren, don't!!" a middle-aged woman spoke, her voice filled with worry as her husband bravely step in front of his wife and son as three dark magi blocked their path.

"Well, well it looks like some lost lambs decided to take their leave in a hurry." One of the dark magi said with a mock amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Damn it, why are you doing this!?" the man named Daren asks with an angry voice wondering why these people are out for their blood.

"Because it's fun. Don't you appreciate the beauty of fire as it devours every pitiful soul that dare to trample on it?" the dark magus answered with a sick and happy tone.

"No stop this!! Kill us if you must but leave our child alone!!" the mother pleaded the magi.

"Hmm, how about..." Then the dark magus who spoke uttered a powerful dark spell that instantly decapitated the father of the child.

The woman watched in horror as her husband's head separated from her body and fell to the ground.

"No." The dark magus said with a sadistic and evil smirk.

"Daren!!!" the woman screamed in utter agony as she saw her husband dead.

"Dad!!!" the child cried, witnessing such gory scene.

"And you are next woman. You two despite being worthless will serve your purpose for the betterment of our group, the Order of Daelus!!"

It was so sudden as the dark magus in an instant slit the mother's throat and her body also fell into the ground.

"N-no..." the child only muttered, his eyes devoid of anything but sadness and sorrow.

"Yes, understand this child. We do this for the glory of Lord Daelus and that one day, we will join him in paradise and together, invoke our wrath throughout Kalas on the day of Reckoning!!"

The boy just kept weeping at the bodies of his parents.

"Ah such agony, such sorrow!! Yes, such qualities are what feeds Lord Daelus' powers!!"

"Shut up." The boy just said to his parent's murderers.

"What was that child." The magus said with his voice dripping of danger.

"I said.... SHUT UP!!!"

Words couldn't describe the boy's feeling of sadness as he was suddenly engulfed in a bright white aura and his eyes turn white with no pupils.

Without warning, the boy chanted a powerful dark spell, the same spell that killed his father and in an instant, decapitated the two dark magi behind the killer of his parents.

The killer's eyes widen and for the first time ever since he joined the group he is into, he felt fear.

"No, that is impossible!! How can a mere child like you use dark magic like us?!!"

Unfortunately, before the killer could take his next course of action in dealing the boy, he was immediately slit in the throat by a dagger as the boy charge with speed beyond measure.

After killing off the ones responsible for the death of his parents, the boy fainted and fell down beside his parent's bodies.

'I-I did it father, mother. The bad magi are dead.' The boy let loose a drop of tear in his eyes before truly succ.u.mbing himself into darkness.

And it was that time when Ura's forces came to his rescue.

When one dreams, the individual enters a world that is but a figment of their imagination, a series of thoughts, images and sensations occurring during one's slumber.

Philosophers of this era came to a conclusion that what we think of as the "real world" could be a cruel illusion that we are all living into, a reality far outstretched into the planes of existence, meaning all of this, the moments when we were born, our first steps, our first childhood experiences, the people that we came to love, all of that may all just be a dream.

Of course, you would be mad if you believe in such things, but in this world that the people are living on, in the world filled with magic, in which the possibilities are endless, it might be a valid conclusion after all.

Dreams may also be connected to the Divines. It is one of their ways of showing an event that may very well shape the dreamer's destiny, a foretelling that something grand is about to occur.

Or perhaps a message from the demons, pranks of ill intent visions that toy the very hearts of men as they succ.u.mb into sin, and transgression.

In short, many believe that dreams are merely visions, delusions that fulfill some hidden d.e.s.i.r.es, or simply random happenings that make no utter sense at all.

And lastly, it could also be a retelling of a past trauma that no human beings would ever want to recall at some point of their lives no matter how far they move on since it is an experience that bitterly grip the many hearts of mortals and even the divines themselves.

In Ken Mercer's case however, as he woke up from a rather deep slumber, he felt rather disoriented as he clutches his hands into his forehead, panting a bit and at the same time sweating profusely from his dream and not just any dream though.

His tragic dream of how his village was turned into ashes and his parents dying right in front of his eyes as they were killed indiscriminately by Warlocks.

'That dream again, never would have thought that I would relive it' Ken thought, feeling a sense of forebode as his face expressed itself with a deep frown.

"Oh, good you are finally awake." Ken heard Sora as she entered the room with a glass filled with water and gave it to him.

Nodding as he gave the Berserker Queen a look of gratitude, Ken gratefully accepted the glass of water and rinse it in his dry throat.
