Majimonsters: Rosewood Journey

Chapter -2 - Moonlit Rage

"Silllviiiiaaaaa, baba".

"Silllviiiiaaaaa, BAba".

"Sillllvviiiiaaaa, baaaabaaaaa".

In a hidden cave, deep in the depths of the Equinox Forest, a strange majimonster the size of a whale was tossing and turning. The beast in question bore the resemblance of a massive predatory cat and an owl mixed together into one being.

The monster had a rather distinct shape, with the head of a strange bug-eyed owl placed upon a distinctly feline body. Unusually, the front part of the monster was feathered, with a large tuft of black, grey and white feathers mimicking a lion's mane, but the back side was more like a cat, covered in fur. It had four powerful legs that ended with razor sharp claws, each big enough to encompass an entire human under massive paw. The front mimicked owl legs while the back legs had the distinct muscular shape of a wild hunting cat, complete with tail. The most curious thing about this monster was its cry.

One would expect that the cry of such a beast would be more like a fierce lion, a roar that would strike fear into the hearts of many and cement its place as the king of its hunting ground. One would expect the fierce call of a raptor, an apex predator of the sky and the last thing anyone would see or hear before disappearing into thin air. But no, the cry that this creature emitted was distinctly...human...ish.

Its pain filled scream sounded much like the voice of a young girl, but it sounded wrong and distorted. Everytime it screamed, the voice sounded as if several dozen others was mixed into it and it always made the sound, "Silvvviaaaass, BaaaaBaaa".

It never knew why it made this sound, all it could recall was that it began to make this sound after it had swallowed something delicious that made it stronger than ever and never starve again... but leave it in constant pain.

Ever since that one faithful night, the monster had evolved into a much higher grade and never needed to hunt again, but it would be wracked with pain, pain, pain every single moment of every single day. The pain it was experiencing would be enough to kill an ordinary creature, but it wouldn't kill a monster. It's only relief was that once a year, under the light of an orange moon, it would have enough strength to ignore the pain and go out once more.

Otherwise, it(she/he/they) could only toss and turn in their den with pain, wondering(knowing) why it was in constant pain, and praying for the light of the organe moon.
