Chapter 6

“Why was Sibel suddenly mentioned? Like Sibel really?”

Yes. I was flustered not because I heard the word “flirt” but because the name “Sibel” came out.

What does Sibel have to do with me?!

“Isn’t there something going on between you two?” Emily stared at me with her eyes wide open. It seemed like she thought I was backing out.

“Where did that question suddenly come from?!”

“But Sibel has been asking about you…”

Violet was about to answer my question when suddenly…

“Who among you here is Marilyn Launer?”

Someone suddenly interrupted our conversation. Because my name was called out, I jerked my hand up as a reaction.

“Yes?”

The uninvited guests who came to us were five girls, and these students were wearing a peculiar and seemingly familiar badge on their school uniforms.

I found myself frowning by the familiar outlines crested in the weird badge.

That ash blue-haired guy…?

“We are Sisamo, Sibel’s fan club. For your information, I’m the president of Sisamo. You can call me Hailey.”

Oh My God…

Why does this novel use so many cliché scenes?

Alright. It’s good to make a fan club to prove the male lead’s awesomeness. But what does “Sisamo” mean?

Now that I take a closer look at it, what was drawn on the badge was a portrait of Sibel! How long has it been since he entered the academy, and he already has a fan club?

Of course, he looks great in there… “Are you Marilyn Launer?”

“Um, yes?”

Hailey, the president of Sisamo, looked at me from head to toe as if she was judging me, but I just shrugged it off.

Sisamo, Sisamo, Sisamo… It’s been a long time since I have read about the male lead’s fan club…

“I’ll ask you directly. What’s your relationship with our Sibel?”

“What do you mean? There’s nothing going on.”

“Don’t lie. I already know everything!” It was really that kind of a line most villains would commonly say. I just wanted for this conversation to end now.

If I said there’s nothing going on, then there really is nothing!

Also, I was already laying low as much as possible and would continue to do so in the future so that his fan club members won’t mark me on their radar.

“If you’re not in any relationship with Sibel, then why is he asking about you?”

“What? Who did he ask?”

“My Brother Lycan.” “’Your’ Brother Lycan?”

You said you were the president of Sibel’s fan club… When I looked at her with a mysterious look, Hailey embarrassingly explained.

“If Sibel is my number one, then Lycan is my second favorite.”

Wow, you have your first and second favorites?

My mind went out when I was hit with real terms in this world.

“Anyways! He approached Lycan and asked him about you! He said he thought you knew him and wanted to talk to you. What did you do to make our Sibel ask about you? Who are you?”

These Sisamo kids came up to me like a pack of wolves hunting for food and drove me to a corner. I wondered why my friends brought up Sibel’s name earlier, but it seems that rumors have spread that he had asked Lycan about me. Ah, I’m in trouble.…

“Wait! Can’t you guys stop?”

Natalie stood up bravely.

“Marilyn says there’s nothing going on. Why can’t you ask Sibel himself rather than asking Marilyn who’s innocent?” Right, right! Way to go, Natalie!

“Hey, are you trying to mess with us?”

Natalie faltered at those words, but this time Emily stepped up.

“It’s alright. There are also five of us. So we’re not gonna be shoved by numbers! I don’t mind sweeping them all by myself though.”

I think this is getting bigger and bigger…? At that time, Violet, who was watching the situation, stood up and cracked her knuckles. Wait, Violet! Are you going to fight too?

But contrary to my expectations, she raised Lariensa up and put her in front of Sisamo like a shield!

“No, but what about this face?!” “You recognize who she is, right?” “She’s Lycan’s sister…!”

“Marilyn Launer, whom you are tormenting right now, is the soul companion of Lariensa, which is your second favorite’s sister!”

“That’s…!” “Listen, Hailey. Do you want to be hated by your second favorite just because of some rumors about your favorite?” “……”

Hailey was still hesitating. But soon, she was flustered when tears started to form on Lariensa’s eyes.

“I didn’t even hit you. Why are you crying already?”

Violet whispered something to Lariensa’s ear.

“If you go now…”

Violet whispered to her again. “I won’t tell my brother about this.”

And again! Whatever Violet whispered, Lariensa would say it too.

“So don’t bother my friend……”

And again…

“And go away right now!”

What kind of avatar is that?

Still, the effect was immediate. Hailey became more flustered and finally led her group away.

“By the way, what those kids said earlier, was it true?”

“Marin, you knew Sibel?” “Where did you meet such a handsome boy?”

I was baptized with a lot of questions from my friends. “It’s not like that. I just happened to bump into him while in the capital. I was also surprised to see him here at the academy. Lara was also there with me, right?”

I asked Lara for help, but…

“That’s right. I saw it, too. Marin slapped that guy named Sibel.”

“Why do you have a distorted memory? I didn’t slap him. I threw my coat at him!”

…it wasn’t helpful at all. “You hit him with your coat?”

“I didn’t hit him. I…”

“Why would you do that? What’s your relationship in the past?”

“Guys…”

To my distress, I had to suffer from constant questioning of my friends about Sibel. And that went on for quite a while.

* * *

I went straight to visit Lycan.

“Brother, did Sibel really ask you about me?”

Lycan, who was training, made time for my visit even though I came unexpectedly. He wiped the sweat off his neck with a towel.

“Yes. He asked me a question.” “What did he ask?” “Nothing much. You acted like you knew him, so he asked if you really do so. Of course, what you’ve done was so absurd that he came to ask me about it.”

“No more nagging. So what did you say to him?”

“Apparently, he’s been living in the capital all along, while you have never left our village, so I said it couldn’t be. I tried to get your coat from him, but he asked me if I could let him see you personally…”

Lycan looked at me silently for a moment. Then he breathed out slowly and continued his words.

“Of course, I refused.”

“Why?” “Then, should I have let him meet you?”

“Ah, absolutely not!”

“See? So I tried to take your coat, but he insisted on returning it himself, so I couldn’t get it.” “I didn’t want it back anyway.”

What would he do with my clothes? Even if I get it back, I’ll just immediately throw it away.

The Sisamo kids I saw last time were really novelesque characters. Reading that novel was a waste of time anyway.

That guy was like, ‘No? You’re the first woman to treat me like this!’ I’d be glad if he showed interest in me with that kind of thinking. But I don’t think that was it. He was just playing with me. Anyhow, it seems that before approaching Lariensa, he decided to play some tricks on me, her best friend, to get some information about her.

“Brother Lycan. Did that bastard, no, Sibel, ask you about Lara?”

“No. He only asked about you. It’s annoying, to be honest.”

“What?”

“No, no. It’s nothing.”

Somehow Lycan seemed to have added his own thoughts. It didn’t seem to be important, so I just let it pass.

The important thing is to protect Lara from Sibel. Sibel was really smart. If he immediately asked me about Lariensa, his real target, openly, it would only make me vigilant around him, so he deliberately interacted with me first…

I don’t think Sibel fell in love with Lariensa’s appearance in the original story, but he’s already approaching her. It was fast, too fast.

“Thank you for answering my question. You must be busy. Well then, I’ll be going…”

I was about to turn around because my business here was already over, but I stopped when I saw something. There was a wound on Lycan’s hand, and traces of blood could be seen.

“……”

“…What’s wrong?”

Lycan might be mean, but it would be cool to move forward for our aspirations and set aside our petty squabbles. I took out my handkerchief and compressed the wound in Lycan’s hand to stop the bleeding.

When I held his hand, it seemed like it flinched for a while, but I didn’t care much because it was just a trivial gesture.

“Working hard is good, but do take care of yourself. Lara’s worried.”

“……”

“Then, I’ll really go now.” I was really about to go now, but I had to stop again. This time, it was because of Lycan.

He grabbed my wrist and took the handkerchief I had used on his wound earlier.

“I’ll… wash it for you.”

“You don’t have to. I was going to discard it anyway.”

“……”

I was about to throw away my old handkerchief. But Lycan stubbornly held onto it and averted my gaze.

Well, he doesn’t have to wash it for me, but there was no reason to refuse him. Also, it doesn’t matter if he would actually throw it away, so I just decided to leave it to him as he wanted.

“Do as you please.”

Then, I finally left him in the training ground.

* * *The dormitory and the training ground were quite far apart, so I had to hurry. Especially because Lariensa, who follows me like a duckling, really hated to be left alone for a long time.

It was now nearing dusk. When I looked up at the clock tower to check the time, I found out that it was already seven o’clock, so I hasten my pace.

As I walked towards the dormitory from the training ground, I saw a figure of a man holding a bag-like object at the end of the dark hallway.

I thought it might be some student or teacher, so I continued walking forward without minding that guy.

But that figure, who was in the dark, stood in front of me.

I was only looking down so I could only see his shoes and pants. I stepped sideways to let him pass, but then he moved to where I was going, and when I stepped again in the other direction, he also moved in the same direction. I had no choice but to raise my head.

“May I pass…”

“……”

“…first?”

The academy was too wide. The area of the campus and other various buildings combined could be compared to a fairly large village.

In such a wide academy, what are the chances of encountering Sibel in the evening, not in class, and also far away from the male dormitory?

“Hi.”

“……“

“Marilyn Launer.”

It was unlikely to happen. “Can you spare some time for me?”

“Uh, uh… Sorry, I was taken aback.” When I first met him, I threw my coat at him, but that doesn’t mean I have to be aggressive to him all the time because it might look more suspicious.

“Finally, I can now have a conversation with you.”

I looked down and saw what he was holding in his hand. What I mistook for a bag was actually a coat. The coat that I threw at him.

“I-I’m sorry about that time.”

“About what?”

“I…”

I replaced my answer by looking down at the coat he’s holding on his hand.

“Ah. Don’t worry. It didn’t hurt that much. Here.”

On the surface, he acted like a kind person. But that’s not gonna work for me!

“Thank you.” With a forced smile, I accepted the coat that he gave to me. This coat was intended to be thrown away in a quiet place.
