Marriage Rights: Billionaire's Forgotten Wife

Chapter 107 - Refused To Believe

Yu Qiao thought for a second. Chen Jing wasn't wrong, but Yu Qiao knew in his heart, he owed it to his family, and more importantly, to himself, to step up in his role and prove his abilities.

"No, cousin. I can do both. I have already spoken to my dean, and he understands my situation. I will do my school work after my work here is done. I am at no risk of not graduating. That I can assure you, it is my duty, as the only son of Yu Han, to take over the business. If you please, do your duty and fill me in on the situation at hand." Yu Qiao already addresses Chen Jing as a family that made the other's face look uncomfortable.

Yu Qiao moved to the seat his cousin had occupied and sat at the head of the table. His cousin stood defiantly at the door and glared. "Fine. This company has just been found guilty of fraud. Enjoy your position. I will enjoy watching you burn." and without another word, he exited the board room with a slam of the door after dropping a bomb.

The news shocked Yu Qiao, and it took a while to process it. Chen Jing already left him in charge, but the news that he left for him to handle is just unbelievable.

Yu Qiao does not fully understand the situation, but the people that stayed with him after Chen Jing left are patient enough to provide all the data that he needs to finally see the general picture of the problem.

He drummed his fingers on the tabletop while the board sat waiting for his response, their eyes watching carefully to his every action making Yu Qiao uncomfortable.

The reports stated that this had all been his father's doing, but because everything was found out as soon as he stepped up to his father's position, everything would be looked at as his fault. He would take the fall for the failure of his father's company.

His father is in coma and does not have a way to explain what happened or prove that he is not a criminal. What if he is innocent and there is an explanation to all this? What about the accomplices?

For Yu Qiao, it really does not make sense. There is no need for his father to commit fraud.

He saw his father's work ethics just like Mo Che. On the other hand, any fraud this big, his godfather will immediately hear about it.

"So... you are saying that my father had all of his sales double recorded to make it appear as though his sales were more than they were? This then had investors give more money to the company, but that money was spent on... personal items and not the company." Yu Qiao couldn't believe any of that.

Who knows what things his father had purchased with the money.

'Personal items? We live a fugal life!' Yu Qiao thoughts. His father is an alcoholic, not a materialistic!

"Yes. The worst part about it is that the money that was meant to be invested in the company was invested under the pretense that the company was worth more, and doing better, that it was. This also means the stocks and bonds in the company are now...essentially worthless." said a small man with glasses seated next to Yu Qiao.

Yu Qiao let the words sink in. The company was worthless. The company still existed, but it would require him to rebuild from square one. He ran the words through his brain over and over wondering what he could do to fix his father's problems. His throat filled with fire and his hands began to shake. He needed a drink.

He took a pitcher of water from the table and poured himself a glass. The water spilled as his hands shook. The table was now a swimming pool of ice and water, leaving only a small amount in his glass. He threw the water back into his mouth, chugging it as he wiped the sweat from his brow. He wished it was alcohol instead.

Yu Qiao sat back down, feeling a little calmer but not much. "We will have to let the majority of the company go to stay afloat." another board member spoke up.

"How much money is required to pay the salaries of the workers and set everything straight?" Yu Qiao questioned. The men stared at him, blankly.

"There is no possibility of gaining that much funding from anyone. With Mo Che missing there is no one to bail you out this time... sir." piped up another meek voice.

"I am not suggesting a loan. I am suggesting selling off all personal assets. Since these reports state that my father bought much of his material items with money meant for the company. Before it is taken, can we not simply sell off everything and give the money back?" Yu Qiao suggested.

The board room burst into laughter. Yu Qiao laughed along with them to save face, but he had no idea what was so funny. To him, this made logical sense. No harm, no foul if everything was set back to proper balance.

"You are hilarious, Yu Qiao. I like your humor. It is too bad this company is a sinking ship. I would have enjoyed working with you." the man gave Yu Qiao a hearty slap on the back. "The state will take everything and use the money to pay the lawsuits. There will be nothing left."

Yu Qiao was on a sinking ship and had just named himself captain. Maybe he should have let his cousin take the wheel, although he would still lose everything. There was only one thing left to do.

However, he refused to believe that nothing could be done! Something is not right he will find it out before their company will declare bankruptcy!

How though? He does not know, but Yu Qiao wants someone else to talk to aside from the people that are currently around him in the company that already gave up.
