Mo Family Home…

Getting married is supposed to be the best day of any woman's life. Not for her though, as Mo Lihua felt devastated. Yu Qiao was so drunk that the registration office almost refused to accommodate them.

Thankfully, Mo Lihua and Yu Qiao were able to convince them to let them sign the necessary papers to legalise the marriage. The sad part even if she wants to cry and be mad, Mo Lihua does not have the right to blame Yu Qiao for being drunk.

She insisted on marriage as the only way to help him. As well as atonement for getting the Yu family involved in the Mo family affairs.

Also, Yu Qiao being the investment consultant, is a chance for him to stay in the Mo Corp that she does not know anything about.

Mo Lihua only has the money to help the Mo Company, but the ins and outs are not something she is aware of. Thus she will keep Yu Qiao there to watch over things.

If he was blessed enough to be given a better position, then congratulations. He is also her insurance in case something terrible happened with the Selection. Just in case, she failed to go back.

No one knows what the future would bring. For now, she needs to rest.

Mo Lihua began getting ready for bed. She got dressed in her silk robe and a black lace bra and pantie set. She felt more relaxed in her element and away from the chaos of her past, and soon, the future. She washed her face free of the make-up that made her appear blemished, and her porcelain skin peered back at her from her mirror. Without her glasses, she can still see her face, not clear, but even enough.

Before going back home with Yu Qiao, Mo Lihua needs to place the makeup again to avoid being questioned.

Angelo was already advice that Yu Qiao will be going home with her as the head of security requested before. Thus, Yu Qiao's old room, where he will stay again, was prepared.

No one knows about the marriage except her, Yu Qiao and the man who facilitated the marriage registration and Mo Lihua would like to keep it that way.

She turned off her room light and opened the lamp beside her bed and climbed into it. It was almost ten o'clock, and Mo Lihua is already physically and mentally exhausted. She is still widely awake and somewhat nervous.

"What are you waiting for? Sleep." She murmured to herself. Although the first night of being officially a married woman, it will still be impossible for a honeymoon, despite her husband just a room away from her.

Yu Qiao is probably snoring by now due to his drunkenness, and when he wakes up, he will not remember what happened the day before, like how he got married.

Just as she shut her eyes, there was a rapping at her balcony door. It was faint and sounded almost like a memory from her mind seeping into reality than an actual sound. She closed her eyes again and did her best to tune out any noises and distractions.

The sound came again, but this time, it was louder. Mo Lihua's hair stood on end. What if someone had decided to go and try and kill her in the night? The selection hadn't even been made, but that wouldn't stop some bloodthirsty candidate from breaking the rules.

Mo Lihua stood from her bed quietly and slowly to not cast any shadows or provide any indication she was home. She crept to the left side of her balcony door and placed her hand on the door handle. The handle began to move from the outside. Someone was trying to get into her room.

She took a deep breath and swung the door open to the outside balcony slamming the door into whoever was on the other side. The shadow figure hit the ground like a sack of bricks. A groan emerged from the body as he twisted and turned on the ground.

Mo Lihua wasted no time and jumped on the body preparing to choke out whomever the attacker would be. She put her hands around his neck and took a deep breath in preparation to take the last breath of the shadow beneath her.

"What are you doing?" came a quiet cry of fear from the man beneath her. He smelled of alcohol and smoke. It was Yu Qiao.

"What are you doing?" Mo Lihua barked back. "You are lucky I didn't murder you."

"You? A little thing like you murder me? Ha!" Yu Qiao's laugh was sincere, but his words sounded a little slurred.

"Stand up." Mo Lihua commanded. Yu Qiao pushed himself to his feet and wavered slightly as he attempted to gain his full height. Dizzy with intoxication, he leaned himself against the frame of the balcony door.

"Considering how drunk you are, you would be an easy target," she said matter of factly.

"Hehe. I used to visit you like this when we were kids. Remember?" he asked. "Are you going to invite me in now?"
