TN: Flat top- a hairstyle also known as a military cut

As she thinks about it, her nose feels sour, and her eyes start to sting.

She hasn’t thought about her mother for quite a while. She didn’t expect to feel overwhelmed.

Unconsciously, she walks to the balcony to look at the dark sky. Unfortunately, the stars aren’t out. Are they also hiding behind the clouds and crying?

“Be strong, An Chuxia.” She raises her hands to her face to wipe away her tears. Suddenly, the thoughts in her mind cleared.

She’s been so caught up in Han Qilu’s amnesia, she forgot the reason why she entered this home. She has to study hard so she can attend university to fulfill her mother’s wish.

But because of all this chaos, she forgot her purpose!

Would it be a sin if she thought of Han Qilu dying? If he didn’t survive, would she? Is he her life?

No!

If Han Qilu ends up not being a part of her future, she has to keep on living to be able to do what her mother sacrificed for her: a life of ease!

Back in the study, Han Liuhai drums his fingers against the desktop. This means he’s quite impatient and is about to lose his patience while making a call.

Finally, someone responds.

“The person you’re trying to reach is unable to answer.”

Liuhai can hear voices in the background, which makes him think.

“Hey, dear, you’re great!” the woman sarcastically yells. Liuhai continues to drum his fingers until a man impatiently snatches the phone and says, “Who’s this?”

Whoever disturbs him at this time won’t be forgiven. He’ll out their mouth in the morrow!

“It’s me.” Han Liuhai’s thick voice rings through the phone and in his eardrum. He can recognize the President’s voice even when he’s drunk. Internally, he’s summoning the spirits to clear his conscience after wanting to rip his mouth.

“Hey, dear! Why… .” The hard-as-diamonds woman softens like cotton candy.

“Shut up!” The man raises his hand and slaps the woman on the face. He picks up his pants and quickly runs to the balcony. He smiles deprecatingly. “Sorry, President. I didn’t mean you should shut up.”

The finger drumming stops as he gets up and faces the wall. “You seem to be busy right now.”

“Busy? No, no. I’m not busy!” The man nervously stands up straight as he talks.

“Was there anything strange with An Yishan? We may have won the bid, but because of them, the price was higher than anticipated. What did they do after the bidding?” Han Liuhai presses.

This man’s purpose is to keep an eye on An Yishan. As the deputy general manager, he can monitor An Yushan at the head office.

An Yishan is An Chuxia’s biological father. He may have a partnership so they’d make a profit, but it doesn’t mean that their union would be permanent.

Han Liuhai is cautious by nature. If someone doesn’t take the initiative to contact him, he’ll take the initiative to find him.

Before talking to Zhangkou, Liuhai heard his employee talking to a bar girl! He remembered hearing him slap her.

Han Liuhai thinks about what happened, he nods. “I knew that he’d go look for other locations after not getting the land in D City. I just didn’t expect him to move so fast. Listen, keep an eye on him and find out where in F City he’s planning to buy.

“Yes, President… .”

“How many times have I told you not to call me president!” Han Liuhai frowns in disappointment.

Zhangkou pinches his thighs angrily. “I forgot. But why grab this from him? It’s blatant; An Yishan will jump over the wall!”

“Did I grab too much at once? It’s prime location! I just want to give him some crumbs. Even if he grabs this land, I still have a trump card… .” Han Liuhai’s expression darkens.

Zhangkou says, “I’ll call you, again.” His cell phone screen lights up right after he hangs up. He’s relieved. It’s not easy to be a commercial spy.

When he walks back to the room, the bar girl is dressed, and is sitting on the bed with her legs crossed. “Money!”

“Baby, you’re going?” He walks up to her, smiling. “I haven’t touched you yet.”

“How charming!” the girl says coldly. “Give me money. I’m leaving this place so I can’t bother you by answering your phone.”

“What if I give you thrice the amount?” He sits beside the woman and puts his hand on her waist. Then, he steps forward to keep her in place.

When she hears him say “thrice”, her eyes jump. Once he touches her, she doesn’t feel inconvenienced. Why should she leave when she can go where there’s money? Alas, she’s still “forced” to be with him because he’s got money!

“Jerk!” She says forcefully as she unbuttons his shirt slowly. “Fu*k you.”

The room bursts with peach blossoms, spring fills the room and the door closes [behind them].

There’s as much grapes as when it was brought in. Han Liuhai stands up and walks toward the fruit. Outside of his study, he is Han Qilu’s father, and Jiang Yuan’s husband.

Rounding the stairwell, he sees his son at the table, eating. The maid quickly takes the fruit plate from him.

“It’s eight o’clock, you’re having dinner?” he asks as he stands next to Jiang Yuan.

“Where did you put the cell phone I gave you the last time?”

“It might be in the cupboard in our room.” Jiang Yuan stands and asks, “Use your phone. Why do you want to use that brick?”

“I don’t like using smartphones. Besides, that brick is good!” Han Liuhai says as he walks up the stairs with Jiang Yuan.

Han Qilu shakes his head. The Han Group employees might think their big boss is too efficient to use outdated phones. But in reality, he doesn’t know how to use current mobile phones. He is done eating just in time to see the lights turn on outside the hall.

“Steward Han must be back with his son.” The servant starts cleaning up the table after she sees Han Qilu’s disbelief. “Madame forced steward Han to bring his son over to live here. She took him up on his offer. For many years, I knew he has a son.”

Steward Han has already given Liu Dongyu a better life. But the butler likes keeping his private and public life separate. He didn’t like the Hans to do things for him. After all, they didnt know for nearly ten years.

Han Qilu’s heart is full of grief and sorrow. The butler watched him grow up with all his heart, and yet, he didn’t know he had a son.

His feet involuntarily carry him outside the hall to watch the other servants help the steward move luggage. Liu Dongyu, who’s behind steward Han, looks around curiously. He might not see the house in it’s full glory but what he can see is still amazing. He knows the family is rich, but he didn’t imagine their home to be like a castle!

“Liu Shu!” Han Qilu calls out to steward Han. He knows he’s going to be corrected.

“Young master, i insist you not to call me that. This is my pet, Dongyu. He might be a problem to you.” He pulls his son to his side.

Dongyu feels awkward seeing his father talk so politely to a boy his age. After the introduction, Dongyu doesn’t speak.

“I heard he’s trouble.” Han Qilu says, disregarding Liu Dongyu’s attitude. “You should’ve told us sooner. It’s no hassle; we are family.”

“When, young master?” The butler is being pedantic. “It’s late. You should be resting since you have class early tomorrow morning.”

“I know.” Han Qilu gazes at Dongyu’s hair. His eyes flash in surprise. “The flat top suits you! You’re quite dashing.”
