Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me

Chapter 37 Get Out of the Way

“Dongyu… .” Steward Han can’t take his eyes off the road, but everyone can tell he wants to reprimand his son.

Han Qilu, who’s sitting behind the butler, replies for Dongyu. “Liu shu, no need to be upset with him. If he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t have to eat it. Right, Dongyu?”

Liu Dongyu remains silent the whole time. Instead, he retches. An Chuxia thought he was agreeing with Han Qilu, but when he retches again after Qilu talks, she reconsiders.

An Chuxia realizes something isn’t right. Steward Han lowers his head and leans over. “Dongyu, what’s wrong?”

“I think… I’m going to… throw up.” His voice is weak.

“Steward Han, please stop soon. Dongyu has motion sickness!” An Chuxia is aware of Dongyu’s discomfort.

The car isn’t that far from the school, so the butler parks the car on the side of the road. Dongyu immediately exits the car and runs to the lamp post where he vomits.

“I guess he did have to vomit… .” Han Qilu says as he picks up the tea egg and looks at it. He then hands it to Chuxia. “I guess he won’t be eating this. Since you like these a lot, you can have it.”

“No, thank you. Mommy made it for you, so you have to eat it.” An Chuxia says with a heavy heart. Seeing the paper towels in the trunk of the car, she exits the car and snatches the roll to hand over to Liu Dongyu.

Concerned, she asks, “Are you okay? Do you want to get back in the car? Here’s some paper towels.”

She has not known anyone with car sickness, but as she hands him the towels, she strokes his back to calm him down.

“I’m fine, thank you.” He wipes his mouth with the towel. His face is pale from retching.

“Let me get you some water… .” An Chuxia turns only to almost collide with steward Han who’s carrying the water.

“Xiaonainai, please return to the car. I’ll take over from here,” he says, embarrassed. “I’m sorry for inconveniencing you.”

“It’s no trouble. Now that you’re here, I’ll leave it to you.” An Chuxia nods at the butler and returns to the car.

But as she gets in, she feels the tension in the car, and she knows it’s all because of him. The tension radiates from him. He’s not happy, and laughing at his disposition would cause trouble.

“Are you close to Liu Dongyu?” Qilu quietly asks as he raises an eyebrow at her. His eyes slowly move to Liu Dongyu’s figure standing not far from the car.

Is he upset with her because she was being nice to Liu Dongyu?

She sighs before replying. “What’s wrong with being friendly with an acquaintance?”

“It’s going to cause a lot of trouble if he misunderstands your intentions by acting too friendly with him.”

She doesn’t respond to his comment. Qilu’s eyes move from Dongyu to Chuxia, and when his eyes land on her, she’s staring at him so intently, she can bore a hole through him.

Should she assume his response is out of jealousy? But she can’t ask him as frankly as she used to. Instead, she replies, “Me liking him bears no relation to whether he misunderstands my intentions.”

She might as well have slapped him. Han Qilu coughs into his right fist. “You can’t fault me for being protective. I have to watch out for your as your ge.”

Any pleasure Chuxia got from thinking Qilu was jealous is wiped away. She restrains the anger simmering within. She coldly responds, “You’re not acting like a brother. Admit it, you’re bothered!”

“Hey!” He realizes that her affection for Dongyu has lit a fire in his stomach. Her words are like gasoline, and it turned the fire into an inferno. “I’m just looking out for you!”

“Oh-.” She smiles stiffly. “Manage yourself first before bothering with others.”

“You… .” He impulsively says as the urge to kill her on the spot kicks in.

The hell if he didn’t act on impulse. Taking a deep breath, he dials steward Han. “Is he better? How long before we get to school?”

“Are you rushing steward Han? Don’t you see Dongyu is still sick?” She frowns at him. Can’t he think about others?

Qilu ignores Chuxia as he rests his head against the headrest. His mind raises as he closes his eyes. He knows she won’t be able to read his emotions if she isn’t able to look into his eyes.

She can tell from his body language that they’re done talking. She turns away and looks out the window.

Steward Han and Dongyu return to the car, but as soon as Dongyu sees Chuxia, he stops short in front of the vehicle. An Chuxia looks at the butler. “Steward Han, isn’t Dongyu getting in?”

Despite hearing her query, Qilu keeps his eyes closed.

“We’re not far from the school, so he can walk the distance.” The steward turns the key to the engine as he sees Dongyu walk away.

Liu Dongyu watches the car pass him by; his eyes, desolate. He looks at the eggs in his hand, and he gets more depressed. Han Qilu’s mother is quite nice. When his mother was alive, she used to send him to school with two eggs on the first day of class. This meant he’d get a perfect score.

He should be content like Han Qilu instead of complaining like him.

“Doesn’t he know how good he has it?” He silently asks himself.

“Oh!” A familiar voice interrupts his thoughts as a car slows down to his pace. He sees the rear passenger seat window roll down and see Meng Xiaonan’s head pop out. “It’s you! I thought I was mistaken since you’re wearing the Stein uniform. Are you enrolled in our school?”

She instigated the Han family relationship, and he’s unsure whether to thank or curse her for it.

“I transferred to Stein.” He extends his hand and runs his palm against his head. “I hope you can help me out when we get there.”

“How come you’re going there by yourself? Get in. I’ll give you a ride.” Meng Xiaonan isn’t aware of what happened as she waves him in. “Come on. You can’t be that slow.”

Her enthusiasm makes it hard for him to refuse… .

In all honesty, he wants to sit in the same car as Meng Xiaonan. After all, he is attracted to her style. It doesn’t mean he won’t mind seeing some skin, but he thinks Xiaonan is attractive regardless of what she wears.

“Okay,” he says, before climbing into her car.

A clean scent fills the car, exuding a hint of lemon. It wasn’t like the car he rode in earlier which smelled like tea eggs because the air in the car wasn’t circulating. He thinks it’s why he vomited.

In retrospect, he’s glad he didn’t throw up in the car. Otherwise, his father would kill him.

“I almost didn’t recognize you,” she says, acting unladylike by sitting so close to Dongyu and resting her hand against his head. A tingly feeling radiates from the spot her palm rests as she flashes him a toothy smile.

All he sees is her.

While he compares An Chuxia to a doll, he sees Meng Xiaonan as someone who’s more resistant; someone who can brighten up a room by just saying a word. To him, she is the sun.

Can’t her sunshine warm the plants always hidden in the dark?

His thoughts are muddled because of her touch. Dongyu takes a deep breath and reaches out to her hand and brings it down. With a serious expression, he chides, “Never casually touch a boy’s head.”

Meng Xiaonan retracts her hand after seeing his glum expression. “I’m sorry. It’s just different. I guess your father had you cut your hair and dye it black?”

Liu Dongyu frowns deeper as she talks about her father. Meng Xiaonan realizes that this might’ve been a touchy subject and he didn’t want to talk about it. She doesn’t know what topics are okay to talk about!
