After taking a deep breath, I calmed my urge to devour her soul. I knew my soul was too weak right now to forcefully devour her soul.

And I knew if I tried to devour her soul, I would receive some backlash because she was favored of this world.

Anyway forcefully consuming a soul will decrease its quality. I'll only get the full benefit of it if only she willingly gives it to me. So, I'll have to do this hard way.

It was so f.u.c.k.i.n.g frustrating when there was a delicious soul in front of you but you can't have it.

There was this Xiao Lingxi's soul as well. I was a bit cautious of her soul though. It was carefully hiding its true self. I knew Xia Qingyu's soul was extraordinary because she was favored by the world.

But I didn't know Lingxi's origin. Why she was extraordinary? It was hiding and my soul was too weak to find it out.

So, let's stop with my rant and focus on my marriage.

In accordance to the Blue Wind Empire's wedding tradition,

'Did I tell you we were in a place called Blue Wind Empire's Floating cloud city which was so small you could call it a town instead of city? OK...Now, you know it.'

The groom would bring the bride onto the bridal chair. I stepped forward and stretched out a helping hand at Xia Qingyue. Xia Qingyue elegantly lifted her hand… However, as I took Xia Qingyue's hands in my palm, a piercing cold energy unraveled onto my hand and my entire right arm stiffened in pain, half-immobilized.

'F.u.c.k...This bitch attacks her husband right before marriage..'

Even though I was cursing her with my vast arsenal of profanities in my head, I didn't make any other expression aside from my calm and collected face.

I knew she was surprised to not see me screaming in pain.

'This Bitch...'

After the small episode, I sat on the horse and the wedding procession went on with great strength and vigor. The Xia Clan's wedding team followed in the direction of the Xiao Clan shortly after.

After another hour and a half, the procession returned to the Xiao Clan's main entrance. This long journey was smooth and calm.

Xiao Lie was already at the doorway and stood to welcome their guests. Sadly, the number of people who came for Xiao Che can be counted with one hand. Most of the guests came for Xiao Lie and the Xia Clan. With Xiao Lie's fame and Xia Clan's connection, many guests were seen. Xia Qingyue's bridal carriage slowly stopped in the middle of the noise. A corner of the curtain was opened as her maid Xia Dongling gently spoke: "Miss, we have arrived."

Afterward, a hand reached out and Xia Dongling gently lowered her arms. As soon as she got out of the carriage, the deafening atmosphere suddenly quieted to replaced by deep breaths that followed one after another. The sound of irrepressible breathing overlapped against one another as many people stared straight ahead, unable to snap back into reality.

I also want this wedding to end fast so let's keep this short.

The person in charge of the wedding was logistics manager Xiao De. The wedding ceremony began at the cry of his voice.

The master of ceremonies first introduced the bride and groom and then read names from a list of distinguished guests that had came to visit.

The voice of the master of ceremonies stopped. After a brief pause, his voice became eight octaves higher:

"First bow to heaven and earth!"

We bowed in the direction of the doorway, to the heavens and earth.

"Second bow to the elders!"

We made a 180 degree turn towards the seated Xia Hongyi and Xiao Lie and bowed. Xiao Lie firmly nodded and smiled lovingly at Xiao Che and his new granddaughter-in-law. Xia Hongyi also smiled and beamed in content.

"Husband and wife, exchange bows!"

I turned my body towards Xia Qingyue and at the same time, Xia Qingyue also turned to face me.

I turned to face her and we both bent towards one another, I saw cold eyes peeking through the gaps of the bead curtain…. cool icy eyes that revealed no traces of emotion.

Usually, at moments like this, the crowd would burst into enthusiastic applause, loud laughter, and cheers. But only a few people authentically clapped for the married couple, it was quite awkward.

'It was the most unusual wedding I had'

After a slight pause, Xia Qingyue raised her hands and silently took off the phoenix coronet. At that moment, a beautiful face appeared in my line of sight. As she raised her charming eyes and meet mine in contact. I again had the urge to devour her soul.

As the saying 'Your eyes are the window to your soul' her soul was magnificent. I wanted it.

Those eyes were mesmerizing but it was probably due to her extraordinary soul. It even took a slight effect on me.

"Your reputation precedes you." I murmured.

"And you are not what the rumors say nor what I had imagined as well." She replied

"Rumors say that your vein was disabled so you can only stay at the 1st level of the Elementary Profound Realm. Your only friends are your little aunt Xiao Lingxi and my younger brother Yuanba. The only thing on your body that can be regarded as an advantage would be your appearance."

"But there are still other emotions you are desperately trying to hide. There is pain, sorrow, despair, anger, hatred, fear. But I know this is not because of your disabled profound vein. There is something else that is making you despair. and you're bottling up these negative emotions."

"Do you feel like breaking and going insane?" Xia Qingyue asked after a pause.

I froze after hearing her answer. You know what?.... I was breaking...I was going insane.

All these times I was denying it. Falling in despair and escaping from the fear of that monster. I had fallen so low that a 16-year-old girl was able to read me like an open book.

But I also knew she could do that because she had the favor of the world. Wait...the world....the world....the world.

After my train of thoughts reached that thought I burst into maniacal laughter.

I had fallen so low that it even clouded my judgment. There was an obvious pattern here. How could I not see it?
