Mated To A Werecat

Chapter 13 - Iris's Point of View

Screaming. I heard someone screaming. Why was someone screaming? I opened my eyes to see Maxwell in my bed crying and screaming his lungs out. I hurried to him. I hope no one can hear him. I put my hand on his shoulder and sat next to him.

"Shhh. It's just a nightmare Max. You're going to be okay. I'm right here. You're safe," I said soothingly.

I started running my fingers through his hair, continuing to tell him that it was just a nightmare. Maxwell soon calmed down. I was getting up to go back to the couch when he grabbed my wrist.

"Iris, don't leave me," he said.

"I'm not silly. I'm just gonna go back to the couch. I'm still going to be in the same room," I said reassuringly.

"Can you sleep with me?" he asked.

I sighed.

"Sure. Let me just get my pillow and blanket," I told him.

He released my wrist, and I grabbed my pillow and blanket. I walked to the other side of the bed and got myself comfortable. Max turned to his side and pulled me close to his c.h.e.s.t.

"Night again Iris," he said kissing the top of my head.

"Night again to you too Max," I said curling into his c.h.e.s.t.

His steady breathing told me that he was fast asleep. I closed my eyes and entered dreamland.
